- Logosol M8 -- The Swedish Portable Sawmill
With the Logosol Sawmill M8 you can quickly produce high-class planks and boards from your logs, in the length and dimensions of your choice. The sawmill is simple to use -- and easy to own.
If you have not cut timber before, the M8 is the perfect choice. You will quickly get started and the sawmill is very easy to use. The first day you will already have produced a good-sized stack of planks and boards. Visible scales and the possibility of sawing in fixed steps make setting quick and accurate. Everything is clearly described in the book that comes with every sawmill.
The accuracy is impressive, no matter if you are sawing boards for panelling or squared logs for building log houses. The M8 can cut all sorts of wood both from the forest and the garden: oak, aspen, juniper, apple tree, cherry tree, larch. The list goes on.
The sawmill is built of strong, anodized aluminium, a material that gives it fantastic qualities. Besides being forever rustproof and storable outdoors, it is so strong and rigid that it can easily take large-diameter logs. At the same time it is so lightweight that you can lift and move it by hand. The coating of the sawmill gives a fine and dirt-repellent surface, which also prevents snow and ice from sticking to the sawmill. The sawmill is almost maintenance free, and it will work when you need it, for decades.
The log ramps and the log beds with integrated winches enable you to cut timber without much effort. The log comes up to a level that makes it comfortable for you to secure it on the sawmill. The compact design makes it even easier when the log is to be turned over, since you then can come close to the sawmill and have a good working posture. But another feature that is just as important for your convenience is that the boards come at an easily accessible waist level, making them easy to lift from the sawmill.
In other words, the Logosol Sawmill not only saves your time, but also spares your back.
Fixed log supports are fitted at an exact angle to the log beds. The fixed supports save time, as they never require resetting between the saw cuts, and you do not have to adjust the log clamps. This gives you even better accuracy, as the log that is sawn into boards is supported from the log bed and up to the topside.
In addition, the design of the sawmill makes it suitable for sawing in the winter. All important functions of the sawmill are raised from the snow cover and the sawdust is thrown out away from the sawing spot. This is an important quality in the winter, since sawdust acts as a reinforcement and makes the snow hard as stone. When you have finished you can easily move the sawmill from the spot.
Many of our customers have their sawmill for stationary use. You can also take your sawmill with you and put it up on the spot where the logs are, in the forest, on your backyard, or anywhere else.
The Logosol Sawmill is easiest powered by an ordinary chainsaw. The typical saw unit is a Stihl MS660, which with its seven horsepower and thin guide bar cuts the timber quickly and gives a fine and smooth sawn surface. With such equipment you can saw five metres a minute from a 15 cm (6") thick squared log. The big electric saw unit, Logosol E8000, with automatic feeding, doubles the speed, and with the bandsaw you can even saw 15 m/min (50 ft/min).
But technical data is one thing, working in practise is another. The timber is not only to be sawn up; it should also be stacked. In addition, new logs need to be rolled to the sawmill and, above all, you need a coffee break now and then. We who use the sawmill can from experience say that we produce between two and four cubic metres (850-1700 board feet) sawn timber in one working day, and if you get help from a friend you will produce even more.
You will appreciate the feeling you get by working with quality timber that you have sawn yourself. With the Logosol Sawmill M8, it becomes a pleasure to cut it from your own trees.
The best thing we can give to you who have recently become a sawmill owner, is probably the job satisfaction and pride you will feel when you have finished your first project. This is an investment that you will not regret, and that is part of the warranty!

This mill is absolute genius, the way every detail has been handled. All DIY machines I have seen have no thought to getting the log elevated or feeding the saw. You're lucky to get a "log house cut" out of them, because they lack accuracy . I am humbled ! Worth every dollar !
I have seen a lot of portable saw mills on UTUBE, but in my opinion this is the best and easiest sawmills I have seen yet makes cutting timber so easy and the whole structure is so light to move around, well done Logosol
Looks like a VERY nice rig. The self-praise is a little over the top.
Amazing! I am so inspired! I really love sawing my own logs, and then working with hand tools, near what the early wood workers experienced. I may just buy one of these very soon!
If you cut a lot of logs, you need to sharpen the chain for about every 5th log. Both Husky and Stihl lasts for over 10 years, if you take care of them in the right way.
Maravilhoso adorei.
Muito prático
Sem complicações.
Parabéns fabricante.
You need to turn the handle somewhere between 15-20 rounds per meter. A normal hand pushed band saw is a lot heavier, which make is a lot easier to push it with a smooth and constant speed.
The crank and rope makes it possible to build up a tension that you use to get a smooth feeding.
I don't own any forest.
I don't own a chainsaw.
Heck, I live in a one-room apartment!
And I still want one of these.. and a chainsaw, just to romp around in the forest, sawing planks. =)
SpamOfCan this could maybe give me a job and possibly even change my reality...
+Martial Morin This equipment will NOT give you a job. Nobody gives you so much many for the planks and boards.
Jiří Housa come to us ill teach you and give you a job.
Please mention its price

That's very good for small logs . You would not move a 20 ft 3 ft round log on that mill . That's why I engineered a set of separate rail and hydraulic lifts that can be used in other jobs ,not just milling . On top of that engineered a separate attachment for any saw to make beveled material for siding ,shims in building ,trim and so on.
I'd like to get one for my farm near "Mayberry" North Carolina. Heard of this from Girl in the Woods and her husband Bushradical. Great vid. Thanks.
The best so far. as simple and practical as it can get.
That's a great piece of equipment for someone that needs to work out in the woods. Well designed and built. I'm glad to see a west Germany built saw instead of one built by a vacuam cleaner co. I have run Stilhs for over 30 yrs and would not buy any other brand.
this is the best I've seen so far
Looks great as long as your logs are small and straight

NOW I CAN FINALLY LIVE OUT 'ALONE IN THE WILDERNESS.' awesome.
I would love to see this beast come and pick up one end of the logs at my place🤣
Awww...he looks soo happy....

Wow keren kawan 👍👍
Nice looking critter, my concern would be dealing with heavier logs, it would seem that you just couldn't saw anything large... Really been researching cheaper sawmills for use on the farm here and I like everything else about this one except for how high you have to manually lift the logs... Some wood is heavier than others and where I live, it would take a very stout fellow to lift a log the size that this guy was lifting.
that's a very important question. I would think you would have to cut the log to size to fit this contraption.
Great invention fallen in Love with it already
Did he haul all the wood back on top of his Volvo grocery getter too?
Best one I’ve seen yet.
Great job! Many people love it. I love it to but i don't have whan. Have fun people with this nice tool.
Nice tool
Hugs from Brazil
das beautiful meng!!!!
say hello to my little friend!!!!
Great design 👌.
I like the fact of cutting smaller trees so that one can take on the chore .but it's true some logs are heavy so you need a small tractor of sorts and I like the fact of using smaller chainsaws but we shall see
Man that machine the the best thing i have seen for a long time Haven't seen one in Ireland yet get them over here soon.
Hello! We already sold several machines to Ireland. Please visit logosol.co.uk for price and shipping information.
won't work on big logs. everybody wants the width atleast 50cm.
marco hanse That's no problem, Maximum diameter of logs: 0,6 m (25") and it is possible to cut even wider logs.
You want at least sixty centimetres. i been working as a treelopper for twenty years and i know what people want. as i sell it.
marco hanse And that is exactly what you get.
looks like a really nice piece of machine!
Fantastic product.
Wow, excellent job, A+ to the video production team and narration. They sure made it look easy. I'm so excited! What does Logosol have that can handle some beautiful 36" diameter Georgia pines that weigh a ton every 3 meters? I need some 4"x6" beams mostly. I'm building some things. That's a nice rig there anyway. I would opt for a motorized system to pull the saw through. I wish I could find more electric powered mills because the noise the gas engines make is rather obnoxious (not to mention the fumes) and drowns out me classic rock I listen to with my headphones.
Cool product!
"Forever alone" sawmill.
This is nice. Wish I could afford it. Looks like my home made project will have to do. Mostly in the planning stage now but I have most of the stuff to build it. My problem is hard wood. It eats chains fast. In any case, I will post my progress and hope to get input on it, good or bad.
Dear Sir, I like this proteble saw mill. Why? A man handiling and easy operating. Thanks
Very interesting tool!
Good hebat terbaik saya suka kerja ni buat rumah
Köpte en äldre M8 i bra skick. Tyvärr sågade jag för lågt och träffade en låssprint (clamp) som hoppade upp. Hur man undviker detta vore väldigt bra att förklara. Borde egentligen inte vara möjligt. Tack.
Good machine
Good video friend, thanks like
Love the camera work
Vafan?! Är det Åsa-Nisse filmat?! Kul att NisseHult lallar med veven och löven fladdrar som lärkvingar.
Pretty cool but you guys need to check what the definition of portable is.
Agreed, this would not work for me as my site is 30 miles from the nearest road in Alaska :)
I was about to point that out ^^
@syiunshi that would make any other more portable system useless because you'd still need to get your lumber out of there, unless you plan to build a cabin there
It's an awesome set up if you have lots of money, but I don't. So I spent maybe ten bucks on scrap aluminum and made my own adjustable what I call versatile timbermill. Can be used with both ends fixed, or open end, while being able to change chain or adjust tension while bar is fixed and cover is off. Check it out if your curious, I try to do something new always, I'm by no means a pro. Thanks and God bless!
Bob Adilla what's the youtube title if its on here thanks ?
I can clearly see how the top and bottom cuts will be perfectly parallel with very little setup, but is there a feature to cut the sides to be square easily to make larger timber as opposed to the small boards in the video?
Cool, I want one.
The sawmill looks well designed. Is there dealers in Canada

"just strap er' on the roof of my volvo bud.. no biggie"
Is there two thumbs up?
This seems like a sawmill worth fabricating at home.
Love making
These guys are Swedish- the Swedish people invented Husqvarna yet these Swedish fellas are using Stihl. What more proof do you need? Stihl is the BEST!
Stihl is German...what's your point? They are both the leaders of chainsaws, power products...I own a Husqvarna chainsaw and a Stihl multi-tool including a chainsaw... they are all top notch quality tools????
Why did my great grandmother ever leave Sweden?

Brilliant, but why are these rigs sooooo expensive? Can't find any secondhand ones either
You are only showing light weight and straight logs. Wonder if it would handle Oak, Cherry, White Ash logs? Also, logs with a curve in them?
When we are shooting the films in Sweden we only have access to nice looking logs, but our sawmill handles all types of logs, our customers can vouch for that. Have a look at our dealer in Australia and his Facebook page to find some more exotic wood being milled.
What do you do with 16' or 20' logs.. and the logs need to be small enough for a guy to buck up
so you have to go and turn that handle round and round and round hundreds of times per meter? a normal handpushed bandsaw seems much easier to use...
Hola buenas noches aki en Estados Unidos dónde lo puedo encontrar , de preferencia en el esto de tennessee o en que estado si pueden hacer envíos
The supports are too far apart to deal with short logs. Is there a good way to mill short logs on the M8?
Do you supply 4 stroke engine? What is the fuel consumption rate of cutting a 3mx50cmx50cm log by logosol m8 chain saw?
I want one!
Great sawmill I must say, Do you have any dealers in Ontario Canada ? Where can I get a list of these trade shows that I may personally see how one of these saws work .? Gotta look at one before spending the money. Like to see what extra options are available as well .
and the saw, just making 1 plank is like cutting 20 trees, you need to sharpen the tooths of the saw every 2nd plank? and it will break down from overheating after 3...
I agree. And I assume the chainsaw and the chainsaw blade must be impeccable, without any pulling to one side. A band saw is much better.
Swingblade, cut forward, cuts coming back
I have a logosol M8 with a Stihl MS660 and ripping chain, and it won't cut even 10% as fast as what I see in the videos, even after I sharpen the chain.
They’re cutting pine.
@@billdavies6130 Thanks for the comment. So far I have cut pine, spruce, aspen, silver poplar, and honey locust. Of those woods, only honey locust is very hard, and two of those five species are officially classed as "softwood."
Não serviria para os tipos de madeiras aqui do Brasil que são bem duras de cortar. Mas é uma excelente e prática máquina.
Cool !, but i dont think a guy is gonna drive a new station wagon to the site with that thing on top... especially a new one ha!
What will be the price in Indian Currency? Is it available in India?
Hill in the city of Goianésia / GO, Brazil and I can not contact the representative here.
How does one buy for M8?
Looks like he chopped the retaining bracket off at 6:24???
Logosol M8 is not listed on the logosol website.
How much for this complete setup shown in the majority of the video? I went to your site but it’s rather time consuming finding all of the components especially when you don’t even know what they are called. Feel free to private message me if need be. Thanks and best.
Does anyone know if the straight edge can be extended for longer timbers?
Can I repeat my question posted a few months ago? Is there a good way to mill short logs with the M8? I bought an M8, and now I kind of regret it because it is not adapted for milling short logs. Where I live it is mostly short logs that are available. I really can't afford to by another mill, such as a Farmers mill, so I think I am stuck with a mill that is less than optimal for my purpose.
What about the new F2? I can't afford to buy that either, but I would like to learn about it.
Look at Saw short logs with Logosol Farmers here on RUclips.
yes, whats it like with hardwoods such as ash and oak?
It works fine, but you need to sharpen the chain more often
What's the thinnest thickness you can cut? Seems like once you get down to around 4 inches there's not enough space to clear the clamps to make your final cut.
+Tyler Ellis With the log holders in place, the thinnest is 2 inches for the last board.
+Logosol Global Thanks for the response! I've probably watched this video 50 times over the past 3 years. I'm just waiting for the day when I can own one myself.
me interesa conocer como puedo hacer para obtener mas informacion estoy onteresado en adquirir un equipo portatil.

How did the 400 lb log get onto the mill?
Bagaimana cara untuk bisa membeli perangkat logosol b 751 ini..?
I think I'd prefer the bandsaw version better. Still, very nice.
fajn.....
I see a problem with the claim that this is from Sweden. It appears that the board thickness is scaled in inches and not metric as I would expect for something from Sweded. The spacing between 4 and 5 for example, appears to be about an inch, not a centimeter. In anycase, it it i divided into eighths, something never done for metric units.
Dear Mr Kielbauch,
When cutting wood into boards we talk inches also in Europe. All wood for house building is named in inches.
Best Regards
Malte Frisk
Logosol
Malte Frisk Greetings, Malte Frisk!
I stand corrected, but am intrigued that Europe uses inches for lumber, knowing the elegance of the metric system. It would mean that the English/Customary System of units has to be taught to some extent in school, which seems like a waste of time in metric countries. Do you have any ideas while inches and feet are used for lumber?
Thanks for your informative reply.
Ken Kiehlbauch
Ken Kiehlbauch It does seem dumb and that's because it is not entirely true. I don't know about Sweden, but neither Denmark, Germany or France uses the imperial system for wood. That's just the countries I know of, but I have never seen construction wood, board or timber, classed by inches, except when watching videos from the US.
As Malte say´s, we did use the imperial system for a long time. Even for plumbing the imperial system was used.
However, we have started to use the metric scale more and more now. I think that the imperial system is on it´s last breath now.
Mathias Nielsen South Europe and I mean on old Yugoslavia countries use Metric system. We see inches and feets on movies and you tube ofcourse.
Does anyone have a review of the Logosol Spinning Cant hook?
This video gave me wood.
What is the value of the M8 here in Brazil?
i want to se the surface of the planks pleace.and how mutch in eur for one of those
dont boy this if u have a modern chainsaw with fixed bults that cannot fall off.
u use a special blade, a special chain. not that much waste.
cut is the same as from the plain sawmill.
Can you please show us the mobile sawmill?
I dont get it!! "Jonsered" did a outstanding sawmill and its gone!!! i have one and its outstanding!! soo good ,,totaly outstanding ,,logosol have not a chanse ,,,
Y en Argentina donde los compro?
Here me running around now, being a wood poacher
i want to buy this one
