  • Join me as I take a trip to the Triton Labs in Cairns Australia to gain a better understanding of how ICP machines work in a reef aquarium use case.
We're fortunate enough to have Ehsan, the owner of Triton and the innovator who brought this technology to reef keeping take us through the process so that we can all get a better understanding.
Feel free to place your questions in the comments section below and of course, support Triton Labs via their website:

Fantastic video, this is why I have been using triton icp since I started my reef tank. Transparency is the key to success. I always follow the help dosages to adjust my traces and have been working for me . I will be interested in more in the depth videos.

@@ParkersReef legend! Excited to hear more. Especially what Ehsan feels are “must haves” and “nice to haves” in the method. For example, water changes. Personally, i am running a hybrid of Triton with water changes. Be good to know whether that is having an impact on the overall effectiveness. This content excites me.

Yeah it’s super exciting stuff. We’ll cover it in some more detail in another video soon when we look at their new display and talk about the triton method then.
However, they do believe water changes introduce an unnecessary variable in our content search for stability :)

Hey sam, what a great explanation of ICP testing to clear up some of the confusion around this area, I'm guessing that a lot of people wouldn't really understand the process therefor not dive into getting one done ,Also who they should even go with to have one done. These guys have put some serious time into what they do and have catered it to our hobby, Definitely something I'll be getting done in the near future for piece of mind at least, Great vid mate.

We do test RO water for many customers worldwide but the cost is exactly the same as it involves the same processes and quality control as for testing marine water. If you do send in RO or RODI water in for testing please write FRESHWATER on all of the vials as it is noted in the system and does help Ehsan when running his quality control. Thanks for watching and your comment.

Great video and thanks for showing us a bit of the process. Even though I have been in the hobby for about 20 years, I've never seen anything on the process before.
With work I have had to send off a few samples of potentially combustible building cladding to labs to be tested and we were required to send them to a NATA accredited test facility.
I hope this doesn't come across negatively, but is there a reason why none of the ICP testers out there are accredited? Is it something to do with the IP set-up that Ehsan was referring to or perhaps a cost factor?
I remember when you did a sample of a few different ICPs when Quantum was testing and results varied quite a bit.
I did the same about the same time and found that the results of the major elements were pretty consistent but the trace elements varied.
It would be nice to know which test was the most accurate test and seeing I have no knowledge of the correct process to ensure accurate test results, accreditation seems like something that would give us an extra layer of comfort.

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  Месяц назад +3

Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave such a detailed comment!
The reason I believe for the lack of accreditation is that the process itself is the key component for accuracy and reliability more so than the hardware itself. You could potentially have the process accredited, however, there would be nothing stopping the operator from not adhering to this process each time making the accreditation of no value.
The knowledge that the Triton team have developed over many years of innovating salt water ICP has taught them which elements impact other elements, which correctional factors are required (and when) to ensure an accurate result. The have their method down pat and I have full faith in their results

Great video Sam, very interesting and great content. I really know which brand to use for ICP, these guys are serious. I agree, it would be awesome with an in depth video about the Triton method and their philosophy and everything.
Just another thing I’m curious about. They used to be in German, now they moved the Australia. (Sounds amazing be the way.😃) Do they still have labs in Germany? Do they have labs in the States? If we do an ICP test here in Europe, will it be shipped to Australia?
