That hasn't happened, so I have chosen to believe Akizuki truly has great comedic timing.

That’s an idea for a mass-community April Fools prank: everyone plays every battle either not shooting at all, or shooting directly into the water 100m away throughout the entire match.
      Same for WoT.
Nobody would have to expend any precious gold, coal, flags, charges, unicorn fingernails, or whatever imaginary thing players currently pay WG real money for the privilege of expending in these battles.
Instead just choose a player to lead, and everyone follow them on a tour of the map, perhaps stopping to marvel at the architecture or do a bit of shopping on an island.

I mean, a war game made by a russian company isn't that big of a distance between dots... But, I agree with him that I don't see any point in getting angry about it. It is a bit silly for people to come to a YT channel and get mad about something like that. However I don't think it is entirely right to say "reality doesn't matter". At the end of the day, it is his source of income and I don't think he should stop doing videos. But i do think it is up to every player to decide if they want to support a russian company or not.
Again I am far from mad about the issue and I don't see why anyone would be, I unfollowed them on twitch and YT and uninstalled the game because I have an ethical issue with it now (ok, um, MORE of one lol) but...getting mad? I have real questions about peoples principles or morals when they are somehow tied to anger and not rational logic...and screaming at other people to share your views is a great way to ensure they never will.

Had the misfortune of playing the Gneis in ranked after resetting the line in wait for the Preussen. To be fair it actually performed better than expected. However, it is so inferior to its counterpart in the battle cruiser line it's not even funny. I think in ranked it could hold it's own if it didn't have to fight against them in every match. The hydro, better torps, better secondaries and better guns simply renders the Gneis obsolete, even in a mode where it's guaranteed to be top tier every game.

Wargaming doesn't create Russian foreign policy. Besides which, they've now cut Lesta Studio loose and shut down all of their business in Russia and Belarus. Wargaming have made it very clear they do not approve of the invasion of Ukraine, not least because they (understandably) seem to take the shelling of Kyiv "personally" - their 3rd largest office was there, employing 500+ people caught in the middle of the bombardment in the first days.

The Gneisenau is a good ship for its purpose. It's not intended to be a range sniper, it's intended to be a brawler - turtleback armor, good at close range; inaccurate guns, good at close range; torpedoes, good at close range; good armor, good for soaking damage at any range but particularly when you're up so close you need to survive as the central target; and good speed for getting out of trouble and, as it's intended to, for getting into trouble.
Use it as a long-range ship, and you'll get expected results.

Oh oh Jingles, sorry to be blatant, but the bow armour of Gneisenau is 26 mm - plus a massive ice breaker covering about two thirds of the bow above the waterline. Heinrich also has an ice breaker below its 25mm nose, but a smaller one than Gneisenau.
Also, my secondary GneisenYES carrowd me through the Bronze stage of Ranked with a 68 WR - way above my overall average.

OK, I will jump to the defense of my favorite battleship (!) again.
The Gneisenau's top speed is 32 knots, which a speed flag and a "Brisk" skilled captain can extend to the point where cruisers may have a hard time keeping up. Which is very useful for pushing for island cover aggressively early on in the battle, which is -- in my mind -- how you *should* play *any* battleship if you want to actually help your team instead of sniping from the back and watching your teammates die.
The Gneisenau might have a turret less than the Heinrich, but if you're bow tanking, that difference does not matter. And you may have bad accuracy, but you are *supposed* to be closing with the enemy. At typical combat ranges for an *aggressive* player (the opposite of which is not "defensive", but "bad"), you'll be hitting your target allright. *And*, no disrespect intended oh Mighty Overlord, but you have missed another difference with the Heinrich: The Gneisenau's guns reload a whole 4 seconds faster than the Heinrich's, so you're looking at a much higher potential DPM here.
And then there's the *other* Elephant in the room. Tactics. Your job in a 15-inch armed fast BB *cannot* be duking it out with other battleships at mid-to-long range. That's something that tends to happen from time to time, but your *primary* target -- rock, paper, scissors -- are the enemy cruisers. With its speed, fast reload, short-range punch, and adequate toughness, the Gneisenau can *easily* wipe whatever cruiser tries to get cocky. Leave the 16-inch armed enemy battleships to your teammates in the destroyers, who usually really appreciate the all-cruisers-sunk corridor you can punch into enemy lines to expose the snipers at the back to torpedo runs.
Too many players are looking for their ship's strength in its own. Who hasn't seen the sniping Nagatos who think that it's ok to stay at the very back because "my ship isn't a brawler" (disregarding the fact that their team's cruisers aren't either, and can ill afford staying in the open like that)? The Gneisenau can be played, indeed *needs* to be played, as a fleet ship, as part of a combined effort. In that role, it has everything required to shine.
And if you make it into the late game, your speed and versatility again comes into its own. Hunting down a destroyer? Making that run against the clock for the cap? Playing ring-around-the-island with an enemy BB (and punching their ticket with your torps)? The Gneisenau is *good* at all these.
I feel the Gneisenau is actually the best T7 battleship around. You just have to understand it, and play to its strengths, which it undoubtedly has. It's not all about number of shells and accuracy.

I have both T7 German BBs. They are both some of my favorite ships. That said, my Gneisenau is a secondary build with an 18 point captain. On a good outing I will get balanced damage from the main guns, secondaries and torpedos. The key for me is to play it like a cruiser in the first half of the battle hiding behind islands and taking pot shots at targets of opportunity, then use the speed to close the distance and brawl once the enemy over-commits themselves. It doesn't always work, sometimes the enemy team is smart enough to not over-commit, but as we all know, most WOWS players are not that smart so it works a good share of the time:) Despite the terrible accuracy, I still manage 32% hit rate with the main guns and above average damage.

It's sort of the TOG of the WoW community. I've taken to using Gneisenau as a sort of "Designated Piñata". That is, it's useful when equipped as a brawler with full secondary build. Send such a Gneisenau into a Domination map to follow a lonely destroyer. It's fast enough to arrive at the cap shortly afterwards, then heads directly at the closest threat.
Designated Piñata won't live long, but several things happen before Gneisenau is sunk. In particular, nobody bothers the DD. First, you are in the way. This is good for the DD hiding in smoke, capping, torping, and setting things on fire; and it can be good for you, having a target-rich environment. Clever enemies will still get you, but so many enemies are not. Those who would otherwise be hiding come out and are visible, desperate for a piece of you. This is good for the team which now has a better picture of enemy dispositions. Such a Gneisenau pilot might mutter:
'Yes please, come closer, for if you don't I'm head-on and will largely dodge your torps. My turtleback armour will survive your pitiful shells for long enough that I will torp you, or fry you in in secondary fire, before I sink. To be sure, main battery might miss at 4km. So I won't fire then. Expect a full AP 15" broadside when you are only 0.4km away; and finally, Designated Piñata has one last torpedo. I will ram you.'

Honestly I've found that in general ships with two-gun turrets tend to have trouble hitting targets, especially German ones. Mainly because when those shells divert from each other, they leave a nice gap to dodge through. When it comes to ships like Gneis and FDG, I spec the equipment for the main battery, but the captain for the secondaries.
