    I have been waiting several 5 years now to come out of BR. I have been retired those five years so I do not have an employer.

    Hi, in my case, I just transferred to UK last year 2021 and only had my 1st job now and I am on the BR tax code. My previous job was from the Philippines so I dont have a p45 to show my employer here in the UK. How do I get to change my tax code?

      Thank you for your question Andro Marco Zantua. There are multiple reasons why you may have been placed on an Emergency Tax Code. I would suggest you to reach out to HMRC directly on their helpline number to get help on clarifying details about your Tax Code. Make sure that you have your National Insurance Number with you when you call them.

    I was working in Amazon through PMP and my tax code was 1257L but after that I converted my job directly to Amazon and left PMP but now my tax code has changed to BR and tax is being deducted very much. Yesterday, I signed a form for P45. Do I get a refund of overpaid tax?

    • @DigitalAccountant
      @DigitalAccountant  Год назад

      Hey S@gar, that you for your questions.
      In most cases you will get a refund for an overpaid tax unless Amazon will receive a notice of different tax code to use before the end of the current Tax Year. This may happen after you will provide your P45 to Amazon. If refund will be due then you need to do nothing as HMRC would issue a refund after the end of the Tax Year.
      Also, in some cases your following year's tax code might be adjusted for an overpaid tax amount instead of receiving a direct refund (e.g. less income tax to be paid in the following Tax Year).
      I hope this helps.

    Is it possible to receive my overpaid tax from hmrc during the same financial year and if so how do i go about it

      Hey Daniel,
      Thank you for your question.
      In the standard circumstances during the tax year the overpaid tax can't be physically paid back to you.
      The reason is that you may be working multiple jobs as well as maybe becoming a self employed by the end of the tax year. So HMRC may refund the taxes that may turn out liable by you by the end of the tax year.
      At the end of the Tax Year (after 5th April) the process is as follow:
      1) all income is added up,
      2) the taxes calculated after personal allowances taken into consideration,
      3) the collected tax amounts during the tax year deducted
      4) the difference paid back to you or you need to pay the gap to HMRC if you have underpaid tax.
      I advise you to call HMRC helpline and seek the advice if you think that you still have an incorrect Tax code or you have circumstances that are outside the standard situation (e.g. you are moving the country, you are tax resident in another country etc.).
      I hope this helps.

    Hi, i am working part time in one place 22 hours and part time in second place 22 hours. And they have applied BR tax code for my second job. Do i ask HMRC to change this Emergency code ?

      Hey 👋
      Thank you for your question.
      You are entitled to total amount of £12,570 personal allowance per year on all income received (except some circumstances).
      If in 1st workplace your income is (or will be) above £12,570 per tax year then that is correct - you should be on BR tax code on the 2nd job.
      I hope this helps.

    if i don't claim 2.job ,what will be happened?

    • @DigitalAccountant
      @DigitalAccountant  Год назад

      If you have 1 job but still have BR code then you will need to make sure that you have received P45 and passed over to your new employer.
      If you have 2 jobs then one should have BR code applied as you can't have two Personal Allowances per year.
      I hope this helps.🙏🙌

      @@DigitalAccountant this system is supported slavery life style..i have very low salary from my job,and i applied for weekend job..but according to this explaination,my second job salary will go to tax ..this is robbery!!

    • @DigitalAccountant

      @@HELIZHELIZ if your earn less than Personal Allowance threshold from your first job, then HMRC may issue a different tax code to use for your second job.
      For example, if you earn in total £8k in first job then you will be not taxed from this amount. If in your second job you will earn in total £4.5k then this amount should not be taxed as well. So, HMRC may issue different Tax Code (rather than BR) to allow you to use your total entitled Personal Allowance per year for Income Tax purposes, e.g. £12,570.
      Remember - it does not matter if you have one job where you earn £30,000 per year or if you earn in total £30,000 from the three different jobs, you will end up paying the same tax amount.
      I hope this helps.
