Glad it helped!
This was really helpful. Thank you :)

Glad it helped :)

Glad it helped!
Good morning sir . 🙏 .. thanx for information .. sir
Superob all video sir ..
Thank you!
thanks for the vid. You mentioned a different tax code of 1250BR for people with a second job. For people with two jobs, do they have different tax codes for each job? or would it say 1250BR on both pay slips?
You'd normally see different codes. For example if it HMRC thought you'd earn £7500 in one, £5000 in the other, you might have 750L on one, 500L on the other. Or you might see 1250L on one, just 'BR' on another.
I used to be on the 1250L code, then they changed it to BR, then they changed it back to 1250L again. I then got a second job as a delivery driver and my tax code got changed to SD0. Some months later I quit my first job, only now doing the driver one, and my tax code is till SD0. Is this right? I'm being deducted about 30% of my total income. What does SD0 mean?
Sounds like a quick call to HMRC to update them on your situation might help this. You are basically being given no allowance currently on the 'Scottish rate'. Give them a call and explain about your job situation and they will likely move your code around, presuming they agree from their data.
still learning tax code
Usually on your payslip
thank u for ur explanation. but what does mean by 1256l tax code and 78t x
So it’s means you can earn 12,560 and 780 in each job, per year, tax free. If you have those codes there is a lot going on inside your affairs! You can phone HMRC and ask why this is the case.
Usually cars, benefits, unpaid tax etc.
@@HeelanAssociates thank u for ur reply.
@@HeelanAssociates so they gave me 1256l now, what does mean
@@tamannauddin3905 That you can now earn 12,560 only
Why my BR tax code is not changing even if I started my job 3 months back and is my first job. Please help
Call HMRC and explain they can fix that for you. Or your employer isn’t applying the right tax code. Check with HMRC first
Can I change which job is considered my second job? My first job is a zero hours contract and I don't get many shifts and I've recently started a new full time job alongside it. The problem is my full-time job is considered my second job and I'm getting over taxed. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
Hi, in short yes, give HMRC a ring. Tell them your estimated income from both and it's possible they can move the allocation of your code around.
@@HeelanAssociates thanks very much.
@@Albert1872. did it work? I’m in the same boat as you, just started a new full time job alongside zero hour contract job and got a BR tax code on my first payslip….
If I earned say £8000 in the tax year, with my tax code being 1256L, should I have paid any income tax on this?
Also if I got paid 4 months with the MT1 code, should I be worried?
Thanks really appreciate it.
Over the year, no tax on those numbers, but on a M1 you *could* of. It you get to end of tax year on those numbers its likely you'd get a refund. Best to speak to HMRC before though as still time for them to alter tax code in the year (Just, as we type this).
Hi so I’m a new starter and my annual is showing to be £26350. My new tax code is 1257L does that mean I can keep 12570 without being taxed at all? Because I am currently on 0T for my first payslip which is the incorrect tax code. I got paid £2967 and had £775 deducted will I get that money back? Thanks
Speak to HMRC on this. 0T is giving you no allowance. They can asses and correct if there is a prob. If they change the code mid year, any wrongly deducted tax is normally sorted in your next payslip.
Hi, My first job here in UK and my tax code is 0T. Don't know what does it mean, how can I change this.
That’s odd. Give HMRC a ring and ask them why, just in case it’s actually your employer that has it wrong.
Hi Nimisha, Is your tax code correct now? I am facing same problem right now
Hi I get paid weekly and on the 1257L and if I earn more than the £242 weekly allowance does it all get taxed?
Usually on that code the amount of that yes. You will pay national insurance before that however.
is it possible to have a tax code as 1257L on a permanent job and then a tax code of 1257L on an extra job…, ?
I have a colleague who doesnt pay any tax for her extra job???? and me always get taxed because my taxcode is either OTW or BR???
That sounds like the tax code is wrong on one job :- ) Tax Pain is in their future.
Hi what is tax code 1271 L..I got really confused since I am new here in UK. My friends got 1257 L
That’s higher than the usual code so sounds like you are being allowed an extra allowance. Best to check with HMRC to see what they’ve ‘coded in’
i have 2 part time jobs and been given ot tax code?? how do i change it
Speak to HMRC and give them your estimated earnings from the jobs. They may adjust.
Hi I want to know how to calculate k tax code
Not sure we understand your question, can you expand?
Do they still change your tax code if your situation hasn't changed for the past 5 years? The past year they've changed mine 3 times!!! Occasionally I am paid a small bonus by my employer but only occasionally; maybe twice or three times a year. The total is less that a £1000 a year. Beyond that, I haven't received ANY allowance.
This has been my situation for the past 5 years, so why on earth does it keep changing this year? It went from 1250L to 381L M1 to 188L to 903L
Why this year??? It makes no sense.
Sounds very odd! Give them a ring, they can explain and or send you a ‘coding notice’ to show what they’ve done.
My tax code has changed from 1250L to S989L and I am unable to reach to HMRC :( Any idea about the reason of this change? I was a sole trader from 04 jan 2020 to 10 aug 2020 and opened my Ltd company on 11 aug 2020. My accountant didn’t close sole trader one till he make a self-assessment on apr 2021 ( net profit 5233 pound).
Turnover for the period from 11 August 2020 to 31 March 2021 on Ltd company was 18845gbp, profit before tax 7836gbp, profit after tax is 6347gbp.
Sadly only way to know this is to get hold of HMRC and ask them to send you a tax coding notice / ask on phone for breakdown.
You could always write and ask; they do reply just takes weeks.
@@HeelanAssociates cheers mate, I talked to them and learned the reason. I have taken dividend. They assumed that I would want dividend tax amount should get deducted from salary:) I told them I’ll do a self assessment and pay my tax separately for dividend. Then they corrected the tax code .
W1 tax code still using for me accully l left my fixed job .how to stop that code
Call HMRC, easiest way to get resolved quickly. They will (presuming they agree!) ask your employer to change tax code.
I’m doing my website but it’s asking to enter in a tax code! Please help!
What sort of tax code? Is it a 'tax identifier'?
Heelan Associates l
Not sure
Clear
Csn someone be eligible to pay tax after only working for 2 months on your 1st job as a uk migrant
If you are earning money in the UK it could be 😃 It’s very hard to say without a lot more knowledge of your situation I’m afraid
So what is the meaning of 0T code and 98T code?
98T = 980£ a year tax free. 0T means you have no tax free allowance at all.
What is 1257L?can you explain me
Means you can earn 12,570£ tax free in that job in the tax year.
what does 541L X replaces 718L mean please
It means HMRC have decided in that job you can now only have 5140 a year tax free.
The bank will ask for the tax code if me make an online transfer. tax code you need sending money first. Bank ask. Tell me sir
This type of tax code is not related to bank transfer, its purely personal tax.
Can you please let me know what is 757T tax code refer to
7570 a year tax free on that job.
@@HeelanAssociates thank you for the response
My tax code is 0T and I only work 8 hours a week and I’m under 18? Who is the person to change the tax code ? I’ve contacted hmrc
HMRC are the people. If they agree it’s wrong they send a code to your employer and ask them to change it when they next do your payroll.
hello what does tax code 978L means?
It means you can earn 9780£ a year before you pay tax. That’s less than ‘normal’ so HMRC believe there is a reason to only give that source of income that amount. If you ask HMRC they can tell you why so low. Could be taxable benefit like car, could be you have income from multiple places, could be old tax owed - lots of possibles.
How to get Tax cod, IMF cod, CoT cod??
Unsure what you mean on this one?
Hi,what does tax code 111l mean?
Means you can earn 1110£ a year in that job before being taxed.
What's the difference between tax code and insurance number thank you
Tax code tells the payroll system how/what tax to deduct from you. NI number is almost an identification number of you as an individual.
Hi , what does 90t tax code mean ??
You can earn £900 a year tax free
Hello sir. I came to the UK as a 6 month seasonal worker and my tax code is 1257L. With this I can earn 12,570 pounds a year without taxes. but they started taxing me after £ 5500. This is true or not?
Sadly it’s too hard to say on that information. Sometimes if you get paid a lot in one go can trigger a tax bill that can even out later, or you get charged National Insurance.
Azamat, you can get that tax back after you leave UK.
@@mykola_kanyuk how can I do it ? I earn more 13000£ it's no problem?
@@azamatusanov7835 earn as much as you can. Apply for national insurance number if you have not done so. After you leave UK you'll have to claim your tax back.
What does tac code 971 code mean?
Means you can earn 9710 a year tax free in that job
What does tax code 1155LX Mean?
£11,550 tax free in that job per year
@@HeelanAssociates my tax code on my first payslip was 1257L but in the recent payslip tax code is 1155LX.. What is the reason for this change? And the payment (after tax) is also reduced,
What does 196L mean please
It means you can earn 1960£ in that job per tax year, tax free.
What is tax code 2?
Just '2'? Would expect more
Hi sir, what does 1257L mean? Do you also know why my tax code keeps changing depending on the hours I worked. For 12 hours it was 1250L now for 26 hours it's 1257l? Please help, thank you.
1257 means 12,570 a year tax free.
It’s the new allowance as of 6th April.
It’s not linked to hours, sounds like it’s just been a coincidence you did different hours before 5th April and after.
@@HeelanAssociates right, thanks
What does tax code 408T mean????
It means you can earn 4080 a year tax free in that job.
Why is it so small I’m only 21, what would I be getting taxed so much
1257L W1/M1? Meaning
This is really the standard tax code, but the M1 ('month 1') HMRC are basically not entirely convinced they know your whole picture.
It's like they are giving you 1/12 of the yearly allowance each month, which is pretty normal, but if some circumstances could lead to not being taxed enough, or paying too much.
Best to call and find out why.
Why my tax code 455 l1
Speak to HMRC for details, but it's likely they think you have other income or a second job.
What does 685L means ? 6850 pounds tax free ? Why such amount ?
That's correct. It could be for lots of reasons - if you call HMRC or create a 'personal tax account' online you should be able to find out why.
It could be various things like:
They've split your allowance between a few jobs
You have other income, so they've split between 'sources'
You have a company car that's taxable
You owe tax from a previous year
etc
@@HeelanAssociates thank you very much for your response
What does it mean 500T CUMUL?
Means 5000 a year tax free.
What code is D 20?
That's an odd code we've not seen. Just checking it's not D0?
UK tax code???
Can you expand? But yes uk
My tax code is Brw1
That means they are basically taxing you 20%, common with a second job.
Hi. What if my code is 716T C?

486L tax code
£4860 a year.
