This was one of the coldest fishing days of my life. I never thought of breaking ice to launch a boat before this day. Our camera completely shut down while filming this show due to the cold weather.
The topwater action with cobia and shark was thrilling, but the drone footage of the mullet run was educational. And that was obviously a major league brown trout...and matching the NFL against goliath grouper was inspired. Very exciting footage with fun had by all! Have a brilliant 2017.
I haven't been able to get out the last few years in my neck of the woods in Southern Ontario, but we used to do inshore fishing at the river mouths for browns and bows all winter long. It never freezes up because there's too much current. My best brown is 11lbs and best rainbow is 14lbs. Awesome that you guys got out and really took advantage of the fishing opportunities at the river/harbor mouth. Awesome!!!
That was an awesome fishing expedition! Great video, thanks for posting. I'm from Milwaukee also, I've only had to break ice one time in my life and that was for duck hunting out in Mukwonago. But I can definitely relate! LOL I'm hoping the steelhead will start running in the tributaries and streams real soon. But a laker is really what's on my bucket list.
Blacktip I've been fishing for a long time and the one thing I like to fish the most is trout and I've discovered that all the trout species are not picky eaters.
Eric seems like an awesome guy great personality cant wait to see him come down to Florida with BlacktipH hopefully he can put him on some goliath grouper
Lol that was a good show. The man knew he was onto something. The only species Ive ever really been able to fish for is rainbow trout (and a bit of striper)
I live in Milwaukee, about 5 minutes from where you launched, the best spots are right by the power plant as soon as you leave the launch head east or head west towards downtown and there are usually fish around where the outlets are for the rivers down there, not sure how long you're in Milwaukee for but feel free to message me if you're looking for any more spots, also I suggest ice fishing some of smaller lakes
Hey BlacktipH welcome to Wisconsin first of all but, we have some nice lakes here you should try: Pewaukee Lake (Waukesha County), Brule River State Forest. Just some to think about. Could try Winnebago for Smaller fish.
As soon as I saw the video on my feed I thought it looked familiar. Damn can't believe u were actually in my neck of the woods. I love fishing the power plant. I live about 10 minutes south in Racine county. In the summer there's boats everywhere by the pipes. I wish the King Salmon supply was up they used to be so plentiful up here and such a fight. It's so crazy because I watch your videos and envy your spots and yet u froze ur ass off to fish one of mine.
Bender park oak creek power. Love it. I only live 10 minutes away but only fish browns a few days a year. Not too many people take advantage of this fishery
First time I caught one of those 'winter browns' I thought I had a salmon. It wasn't until I got home and looked at the pictures and compared specifics that I realized I had a trout! Still a great catch, though ... such pretty fish, those silvery winter browns.
Hey BlacktipH have you consider bringing dude perfect Goliath grouper fishing cause that would be cool also what type of reel do you use when Goliath and shark fishing? AND I REALLY ENJOY YOU CHANNEL XD
Love your videos man, great to see you branching out into the freshwater realm. I've fished in Wisconsin all my life but I'll be moving to Fort Lauderdale this summer for Grad school. You and others have me hooked on this land-based shark fishing idea. I recently invested in a couple Saragosa 25000's which I plan to put on the heaviest St. Croix Avid surf rod (6-16 oz rating). My question for you in what to go with in terms of line? Thinking 80 or 100 lb braid, they claim that you can get 400 yds of 100 on there so that's what I'm leaning towards. Any input?
I live in Washington on Puget Sound and have a steel icebreaker bow on my boat. I have it moored at a marina though. I am the only person with an icebreaker so I get to help other people out.
Josh, um breaking ice with a propeller DURING DAYLIGHT is not as nuts as kayaking a hunk of bloody shark bait off the Florida beach AT NIGHT in the summer. :P
These fish guide dudes have the best personalities haha

Always cool to be the one paving the way to be the first one out for the day
I have only seen Eric in 2 videos, but I already love him!

More videos with Eric! Ice fishing looks ace :D
Congrats on your first trout! It's cool to see how people fish up north during winter.

Love your content, really wish Florida has ice
Speck run is fantastic here in South Carolina.
I arrived from Florida to about 35 miles from Milwaukee the day after this was shot. 85 degrees colder than north Flordia what a shock. Stay warm.
+Jack Maris It was very cold, but the constant bite kept me going.
Love ur videos big fan keep up the great work can't wait for grouper and shark videos again

Welcome to Milwaukee. You have to try ice fishing from a heated shanty catching walleyes and crappies here in Wisconsin!

Hey @blacktipH What lure were you guys using to catch those trout? Mind if I ask for the rod as well? Great video as always!
Man it looks so cold out there but the fish out there look worth it.
Going fishing in St. Petersburg, Florida in February, any tips on where to go and what to use to catch some monsters?
Patrick Murray Yes there are some fish called redfish there good to eat. I have caught them there in shallow waters where there is grass.
First time I caught one of those 'winter browns' I thought I had a salmon. It wasn't until I got home and looked at the pictures and compared specifics that I realized I had a trout! Still a great catch, though ... such pretty fish, those silvery winter browns.
I love trout fishing and they taste good

What lures were you guys using?
Hey Josh what kind of baits did you use
Nice vid can you do more bonito top water fishing
I will take 100 degree fishing days over this any time!!!
hey Josh, could I use a daiwa 900h for beach/pier/bridge shark fishing and if so, how should I spool it?
Yes, but I recommend the Shimano TLD 50 instead. Spool it with 2/3 130lb braid backing and fill the remaining 1/3 of the spool with 150lb mono.
Cool
those are some nice fish.
Was that the powerplant in Oak Creek at the end?
where do you fish in florida, city wise?
Wasn't John B there with you? Camera man?
I love ice fishing
This is so fun to watch as a wisconsinite
Incredible salmonids...Do any of them spawn successfully or are all of them stockers?..
Here in Colorado the ice was 20 inches at blue Mesa reservoir
Good way to pop rivets out of that nice Alumacraft
A True Wisconsinite kkkkk
damn look at the boat traffic out there
Ice fishing is something I'd like to try ONCE! lol
Blacktiph what would be the best bait for some small trout
Padraig Navarro depends where you go.
nice fish! all we have are stocker trout here in AZ. haha.
Patrick Baca Those brown trout are stocked too. At one point in time...
Patrick Baca All the trout except lake trout are not native to the great lakes. All the salmon are non native as well..
Paul Hagstrom ya but they are still wild...
eric1998420 Half true, some do reproduce naturally and some are stocked still.
Paul Hagstrom they stock them in the great Lakes?
what were u guys using?
Was this in Colorado
I am cold just watching this.
"We like our brown trout like our women big and thick"
The NifftyBiscut Ikr XD
