      afjsfs i can affirm this is absoluty true.. moreso because when you're beginning you're at a stage where you should focus on learning to see how to draw. brush types play no part in helping that and actually might even hinder your learning progress.
      beginner artists are still at the stage where they have no idea what makes a painting good, so they assume it's the fancy brushes advanced artists use. intermediate artists start understand this and therefore advocate for skills > brush type.
      but as you get more advanced, you already know how to draw exactly what you're imagining, and you're prioritising on experimenting style/different effects over learning fundamentals, and also saving time with different brushes.

      @@auxuris I would agree except your comment is suggesting that I am a professional artist and I don't exactly know what to say about that /j
      But seriously I do agree with you however I also feel like people can be multiple stages at once, in a way. I keep downloading new brushes for Procreate because I just love fucking around with awesome watercolor shit and tbh don't wanna go through the hassle of replicating watercolors digitally without an actual brush that does that for me lol.
      Also having an Apple Pencil has opened up so many goddamn possibilities for me with my artwork lol.

    something that I've learned ( as i paint with a hard brush only) is that in you lower the opacity it makes it easier to blend as ur slowly building up color

    • @floralzero
      @floralzero 3 года назад +5

      ye-- but different programs kinda implement opacity differently; e.g. in photoshop; each 50% opacity stroke will appear kinda like you were drawing on a layer at 50% opacity, where as paint tool sai or smth will apply ur 50% opacity stroke like real paint(?) and kinda layers over each other kekek

    pro tip although i am a begginer!:
    when i bled colors togehter, i just pick the darker/ lighter color, and between their meeting line, I would lower the opacity of my airbrush then color over that line until its semi-blended. Idk if people know this, but I suggest not overdoing it and keeping hard edges because that will make it look better.

    I can see his point, but the experience he has is what makes the difference. I am not even at beginner level and I can honestly say that all I saw was magic lol. It was like explaining how the plain flies. A hunk of metal going through the air imposible. I guess it is back to practice with me.

    I don’t get people who say brushes don’t matter and insist on using just the default brushes. It’s like telling you to eat spaghetti with a spoon. You can do it, but why??

    • @hellodelightfulrando
      @hellodelightfulrando 3 года назад +6

      Because the person using the brush is more important than the brush itself. The brush won’t make brilliant pieces of art for you, only you can do that and you can achieve that with any brush that you use, even the default brushes, and that’s what’s important. There are beginners out there that look at how many brushes there are and get intimidated or buy as many as they can thinking that it’ll make their art look good and when it doesn’t work either way it could make some people give up on digital art when they don’t get the results they imagined because they feel confused and discouraged

    • @faizan6581
      @faizan6581 3 года назад

      @@hellodelightfulrando I agree with you I use a single brush and a single layer whenever I make something I get discouraged sometimes but that is how I made my own art style and fell in love with Making art gave me a reason to live and I am thankful for that and the people that have encouraged me to pursue art :)
      Sorry if I took your time reading this but I am also thankful that you read it! 😊

    I've been drawing digitally (and in general) for only 4 days and I've already created some good looking art (imho, latest breakdown on my channel, don't take this as a self-promo) with just the default brush and a few youtube tutorials. The main thing that helped me (apart from the tutorials and your vids) was the fact that I was doing photoshop compositions before, where I learned how to properly shade & highlight. Since I started drawing digitally.. I just won't go back to doing compositions. This is just fun on a whole another level.

    The brush imitates the real physical brush. So what you need to have in mind is: What painting style do you like?
    Isn't the brush, but at the same time it is. It's about the painting style and not the brush itself.
    The main thing that you need to learn is the basic of colors, how do colors work.
    After that, you learn how to imitate the painting style on the digital. So you know how the colors work and now you need to understand how the painting style works.
    AND NOW, the brush is what you need.
    For example, if you like watercolor you need to understand, how the watercolor works, what do make watercolor be watercolor. So when you learn, you can imitate the watercolor with a simple brush, but a watercolor brush would be "easier".

    I think all beginners should start with using just a default round brush or square brush. I think Sinix touched up on this topic and ever since then I’ve only been using the round brush.
    You should only start to personalize your artworks with custom brushes when you’re at the skill level where the only thing your artwork lacks is some cool textures. Don’t rely on your brushes folks.
