Brushes do make a great difference, I was also a digital beginner artist and mostly worked with airbrush but then switched to watercolor brush and some textured brushes, my rendering has improved alot.
afjsfs i can affirm this is absoluty true.. moreso because when you're beginning you're at a stage where you should focus on learning to see how to draw. brush types play no part in helping that and actually might even hinder your learning progress. beginner artists are still at the stage where they have no idea what makes a painting good, so they assume it's the fancy brushes advanced artists use. intermediate artists start understand this and therefore advocate for skills > brush type. but as you get more advanced, you already know how to draw exactly what you're imagining, and you're prioritising on experimenting style/different effects over learning fundamentals, and also saving time with different brushes.

Because the person using the brush is more important than the brush itself. There are beginners out there that look at how many brushes there are and get intimidated or buy as many as they can thinking that it’ll make their art look good and when it doesn’t work either way it could make some people give up on digital art when they don’t get the results they imagined because they feel confused and discouraged

The brush imitates the real physical brush. So what you need to have in mind is: What painting style do you like? Isn't the brush, but at the same time it is. It's about the painting style and not the brush itself. The main thing that you need to learn is the basic of colors, how do colors work. After that, you learn how to imitate the painting style on the digital. So you know how the colors work and now you need to understand how the painting style works. AND NOW, the brush is what you need. For example, if you like watercolor you need to understand, how the watercolor works, what do make watercolor be watercolor. So when you learn, you can imitate the watercolor with a simple brush, but a watercolor brush would be "easier".
Tbh tho, when pros doing stuff like this makes us the beginner feels more motivated to learn using less variety of brush so that higher skill can achieve. thanks for this vid
Wait wait wait are you actually telling us that your brushes aren't the art equivalent of Samson's hair and the drawing ability lies actually in the artists themselves?! Absolutely ludicrous!
I think all beginners should start with using just a default round brush or square brush. I think Sinix touched up on this topic and ever since then I’ve only been using the round brush. You should only start to personalize your artworks with custom brushes when you’re at the skill level where the only thing your artwork lacks is some cool textures. Don’t rely on your brushes folks.
I think every beginner asks about the brushes, I used to think so too, until I realized that it is more skill than a brush that makes a difference 😂 you just proved it by your beautiful art 😍

omg more videos like this please 😍 This proves you can do anything with any brush ❤️❤️
thats actually crazy… youre crazy talented sam :>
Learned a lot just watching this! I’m still a beginner at digital painting, but this made a lot os sense to my approach at just using what I have. Thanks man!
You're soooo good. I'm so much inspired by you and thank you!
Love it!! And the time u put in, in every stroke
I've noticed you mostly paint on one layer and only use a top layer sometimes. Could you make a video about your thought process on when to create a new layer and when not to. Keep up the great work!
So cool! Until five months ago I had never dared with digital art, but now I am having a lot of fun! I think I will even try this challenge! Your video was so inspiring! Thanks for sharing these experiences with us!
Your style here looks really smoother and clean! I love it
sam deserves more subs, this is so underrated.
I find you so inspiring. You’re one of my top favourite artists out there. I learn a lot from you!
heck even the default ps brushes and brush tips are hella good
Wow, she is just gorgeous!
Your videos are all beautiful, when I saw your account at Instagram and notice that you have a RUclips channel I was really shock so I went to RUclips and search your channels name then I subscribe. I’m a digital beginner I gave up a month ago but when I saw your arts I was amazed and told myself to get back and start doing what you started, your very blessed thank you for this awesome digital arts you did 🙏🏻💗
the best part about watching his vids is that i dont even do digital art but its just sooooooooooooooo fun to see HIM do it sooooooooooooooo beautifully
(and ofc his voice .........its soooooooooooooo soothing)
I only paint using the flat brush from procreate and it works well for me, of course the sizes I use varies, but it works 🐻💙
I'm glad that RUclips recommended me this
It doesn't matter what brush you use, more important things are your draw skills, your imagination and your creative vision.
I love your style and i learn more from the time lapse everytime!!!
Of course, why not? If you know it, you can paint with a tile shard if you want!
So when you learn, you can imitate the watercolor with a simple brush, but a watercolor brush would be "easier".
my guy, you have a talent that someone like me can ever achieve
If you love art ... Then You will ! but in your own unique way
Tbh tho, when pros doing stuff like this makes us the beginner feels more motivated to learn using less variety of brush so that higher skill can achieve. thanks for this vid
So cool, this demo alone is super educational ! THank yoU
This is how I actually want to draw (like the style )
Wait wait wait are you actually telling us that your brushes aren't the art equivalent of Samson's hair and the drawing ability lies actually in the artists themselves?! Absolutely ludicrous!
Awesome video! I would love to see a video about how to paint skin, specifically the color choices you make!
