I imagine they needed to have consensual friending because you can kill anyone. So if there is a person I don't like, you can friend them and know when they are online so you can hunt them down. I suppose you could add a "show offline button"
They also fixed the bug on using common and a few rares to craft a legendary. It's now much more in line with what we would be expecting. Now to craft a legendary it's about 60-70% of the materials needing to be legendary with the rest needing to be rare, and even then some of those won't become legendary even with a good crafter with 600+ boost to quality stat on crafting. It's awesome how fast the devs responded and fixed multiple big issues with the gear. (Even with all this, I'll still be entirely focused on gathering, processing, crafting gear in phase 2 as well.)
There going to be a grind dont be crazy, the grind is how they keep you playing long term. Whenever I see claims of no grind it just means they try to hide the grind.
hey man just a heads up! some of the crafting changes are reaaaally bad, +crafting gear does basically nothing now, i have epic apprentice artisan clothing with +302 crafting and i get zero bonuses now, totally invalidating a huge gameplay loop, they massively overnerfed it!
It's not useless, remember we are getting talent points for professions as well. And we never should have been able to craft legendary gear from half common and a few uncommon and rare materials. Having not even a single Heroic+ material to craft a top notch legendary was stupid, especially this early without any talent points and still journeyman tier. At that rate, any crafter who reaches master, not even grandmaster would be crafting top notch legendarys with only common materials 100% of the time, that would be terrible gameplay.
Can confirm, doing about 33% of the damage I was doing pre-rebalance (not even a nerf, legendaries were so broken, this is just bringing it back to a proper level). This problem was made even worse because of the bugged Crafter shirt that allowed you to make legendaries using mostly rare(blue) mats. GJ fast Intrepid response fixing both issues. Would have been a completely broken mess going into P2 with the game as it was.
@@GS-el8ll yes, but remember we have talent points coming for professions still along with multiple higher tiers of profession ranking, being able to do that with what we had was just stupid and would actually kill the game if it released that way.
I think the adjustment was over corrected. Especially if they reduced the drop of rare materials and the scale up effect. Anyone of them is fine but with all of them adjusted down it makes crafting not worth it
This is a good point. I didnt think about that, I have way more footage of group gameplay than solo, and I chose the solo footage. Bad youtuber is bad.
Bow went from 934 power rating to 350 :p halfed my offensive stats overall which is nice 500 physical offence to 250 so nice to see dmg more reasonable
This past weekend, and I expect the upcoming final weekend, for phase 1 was extremely sad with many players not logging in due to an alleged wipe before phase 2. Global chat used to have constant spam for lfg, but chat was completely dead. I never even seen any announcement that there would be a wipe, but seems a majority of the community is expecting it and gave up. Should there actually be an incoming wipe, a change I personally would like to see for the purpose of this alpha would be a huge increase to the amount of experience needed for player levels. From my point of view, it was pretty dumb seeing cap leveled players on the 2nd weekend of testing for an 8 week long phase 1.
Ashes will be a sub only game. And all the different A2 packages include some sub time. There will be no box cost for the game, or it's expansions. All you will ever pay for Ashes if your $15 a month, which obviously doesn't start until launch.
For the game to be successful the character classes will need to feel good. DPS no longer dropping good DPS just doesnt feel good. In any situation group or solo.
I still do plenty of DPS. The problem wasn't that people were doing good dps, the problem was the people were doing absolutely stupid ridiculous DPS, completely trivializing the entire game.
Don't forget, release is still most likely at least 2 years out, balancing will come later. This just had to happen now because it was waaaaayyyyyy too strong. And the classes all very really good and still have many more classes to come along with class combos.
@@Xillinrequiring legendary gear to do content multiple levels under my level efficiently is ridiculous. Steelbloom for example - I have blue dropped gear at 19 and have an 18 tank, some 20s in the party, etc, and we are having a rough time. Not in the sense we are dying repeatedly (although we have died), but the ridiculous stat buff on enemies in combination with gear nerf means killing a level 16-17 steelbloom sergeant takes ridiculous amounts of time to the point it’s laughable. Do you seriously think that’s just completely normal? Not everything has to be a dichotomy. You seriously want it to take multiple MINUTES for 8 people to kill a few mobs just for the sake of it? Fake health sponges are known to be artificial difficulty in other games. How about add more interesting difficulty modifiers, like necessary interrupts, or some mechanics rather than just make things take 3 times longer to kill.
It's true, there are some different areas with different level requirements. I've rarely seen people looking for 21 for Citadel though. May have just been a strange coincidence that I saw those 2 PUGs back to back and saw a connection that wasn't there.
It's still very early Alpha, phase 2 in just 2 weeks should have some more quests, but I bet it'll still be mostly grinding for now. But, it's not just the combat, if you want to do professions, those are a grind as well :)
You do know many of us never managed to get decent gear right? Lvl 15 is my highest but ill spend over an hour trying to get a group and theres just nobody, or nobody with space for another cleric cuz theres alot of clerics. Solo isnt bad but its even more boring and sow now. atleast 70% of weapon drops i see in HH are phy and i never managed to get a good blue forsaken weapon even tho i have helped kill many of those guys. Iv seen 10+ great blue phy weapons drop but only even been able to roll on 2-3 great magical ones. I agree that coordinated parties are better but basic lvl grinding shouldnt NEED that. i barely got weaker as i had only 2 blue gear and green weapons but I dont get how you say theres no more boring grind when there is simply MORE grind now. Needing to kill 180 of these 1* bears solo just for level 15 is boring as hell. Had an RoS party that was better and gave more money but not 1 single item drop and couldnt find a party for anything in the ~ 4 hours i played later, just got 3 supports and 1 dps slowly killing some bears. Solo got slightly worse, high end got worse but was prob way too powerful, just havent been able to see.

Ive been sparingly keeping an eye on ashes to keep my expectations at bay, but the more I randomly stumble across, the more disappointed I become. First, its the no fast travel, which in today's world is just a poor choice. Then it seems like general grinding is going to require groups at all times? For what purpose? Seems like they're copying Archage too much to a T, and then implementing gameplay habits from everquest. I want to look forward to the game, but I also don't want to touch something thats going to require more of a Classic WoW grind, with much less pay off
This game is probably not for you then, because that is exactly what it is going to be. It's a modern old-school MMO from back when MMOs were good and not linear and handholdy trophy dispensers
