Kato Sensei has a unique way of teaching kata. I especially like the way he 'layers' his information by starting with what most people can get right first (hands), then adds the leg techniques (dachi, keri waza, etc) and always adds some application to show what or why something is being done. He also teaches in sections to give people the best chance of learning. But you do need to concentrate as he likes to move things along.
It's funny to me how there is so much hate out there for Aikido but most other arts at very high levels (advanced black belt) introduce techniques that are very, very similar-this is especially true of Karate.
sensei kato is based in england i doubt he would be in montreal very much. great instructor, have trained a few times with him would recommend anyone interested in learning and progressing to attend a course with him, he also loves elvis funnily enough :)
