The timing for this pregnancy came at a very important time for Charmaine, she needs to come up with something to keep Jack, they have had sex for 2 years, but no ring, no commitment from Jack, she chases after him, but the only thing she can provide is to be his sexual partner, on the other side, Mel provides intellectual conversation, is beautiful, kind, and has shown Jack her professional side, he admires her, respects her, realizes that she has emotional/psychological baggage, as he himself does as well.
