The fact that the plunger removed the grime on its own was indication that most of that wasn't really a stain situation. I will say, she is one fearless germaphobe!!
*My solution*. My toilet had mineral deposits settle onto the bottom which had then stained over time. Even with my glove on, I could feel the hard, sandy texture of the minerals. Finally, I decided to empty and dry the bowl then added about 2 cups of white vinegar. I didn’t check on it for 4 hours but when I did, it had all dissolved. Also, I’ve had a couple of hard water/mineral deposits problems in areas that can’t hold standing water. In that case I’ve placed a folded paper towel on the area and saturated it with the vinegar and let it set. It has pulled up the deposits every single time with no damage to the surfaces.

One has to be careful putting tablets into the toilet tank. My Chemical Engineer husband told me long ago to not put anymore of the tablets containing bleach into the tank, as bleach will break down the composition of the rubber stoppers/sealing gaskets in the tank, making them hard, brittle, and prone to cracking. Also, the caps that cover the two bolts holding the seat onto the main toilet can get pretty grungy. They flip up for cleaning and snap back down, covering the bolts.

When Urine Gone originally hit the market it came with the black light. I did try Urine Gone on the walls around the toilet it helped a little bit. When you see what a black light will show you, you might want to run.
If you have a septic tank, make sure all of these things are septic safe. If they are septic safe, it will say so. If it doesn't say septic safe on the label DON'T USE IT!
Thank you so much! My toilet has looked like thos forever and NO MATTER what I can't get it looking like normal. I will definitely try this on my toilet (renting apartment from the 1950's)
Yes, you have to be careful with over-using tank cleaners, and detergent. I use them occasionally; but eventually you can ruin that rubber flap which lifts up off the pipe opening when you press down the handle to flush. Of course, all of these part can be replaced easily if they do get worn.
I just learned a lot here. Thank you! We rent so I’m not going to go buy a toilet. Not to mention, with lime and rust I need to learn how to maintain it. So thank you!
You could start with a chlorine bleach based gel product and let it work for 30 minutes, flush then repeat the treatment. It will take most dirt and grime, and after flushing it will be easy to decide what type of other products to go for. It can be hard to tell what is basic grime, rust or other stubborn staining to begin with. For the stubborn stains under water level, poor a bucket of hot water down there, then have some laundry washing powder, white wash with enzymes and let it sit for a while, even over night. It often does the trick when other cleaners don`t do much.
Use a product called 'Whink'. It is by far the best product on the market for rust removal. Along with many other uses. But the rust will dissolve as soon as you pour it on. Works for old stains on cloth too. However, it's better on white as it may take out the color. But it IS a product you can trust to do exactly as it promoted.
BTW. I Never place a plunger on the floor! I buy those plastic dishes you put under planters and they are perfect for plungers. Or I use a plastic planter pot that it fits in. Placing a used plunger on your bathroom floor is gross!
I’m very impressed with the toilet. Tyfs I’m dealing with the same rust and stuff in my toilet bowl. Not gonna lie, I’m planning on upgrading my toilet but my plumber told me it’s not needed. He did use a pumice stone, and it looks better so I will take it from there and we will see what happens!

Great video. So many of the other 'expert' videos start with a perfectly clean toilet. How does that help anybody? I want to see the dirtiest toilet I can imagine become sparkling clean, and that is what this video shows. Brava.
The pumice stone will remove the stains. I already removed these mineral stain from both my toilets using the stone. But with time the stains come back. Ima try that Lysol.
@Clean Freak and Germaphobe. You're such a sweet woman, my toilets are stained like hers and I've tried different things. I'm disabled and keeping the house clean is extremely difficult. I'm so embarrassed of my toilets but it's truly the mineral deposits I'm so ashamed of.
We really try to teach in a way that doesn't shame. The mess can be filthy or gross but doesn't mean the person is. Just like you, there are reasons that aren't so simple. When I saw this, I was excited/happy because I really wanted to see if rust products truly work. However, I didn't have rusty toilets to test it on. :)
@@CleanFreakGermaphobe You're so lucky to not have mineral deposits in your toilets. It truly is a nightmare. Thank you for your videos. God bless you lovely kind women, I appreciate you both❤️🙏❤️
If you want to get the water out of the bowl just simply cut the water off from the tank and flush the water out of the bowl with the handle on the tank.
I'm sure she's well aware. The shut off valve could very well be corroded. It's not her house so I doubt she's going to go out and by a new valve and install it.
All the while you are spraying and wiping I want to grab a soapy wet cloth to really clean. The sprays leave a residue. Soap and water take care of that. Then use index to shine it all up.
I promise it wouldn't come off. This toilet was a challenge. We don't show all the scrubbing and work because we found people get bored and click away. So we speed it up or just show some.
Yeah that mineral build up in that small hold is an issue for me as well. I’m not sure what’s in our water but everything turns that orange color. I really have to clean the toilet every 3 days in order to try and keep it from coming back. I don’t think it’s so much that this person doesn’t clean her toilet, it really is either the water or the plumbing.
A pumice stone scratches off the smooth, shiny porcelain leaving rough porcelain exposed and causing limestone and calcium to deposit 100% easier than before.
How do these awful toilets produce rust. I never experienced or saw this until I moved into a rental so I cannot replace the toilet. Normal daily cleaning does not stop it. So far no cleaning products or bicarb and vinegar have helped. The pumice only does so much. It looks like it will take me hours of scrubbing with it and what I get rid off, soon comes back.
That is the rusty water they have. I know. I live in an area where all the water has rust in it. People buy water conditioning systems to correct this. My toliet has a rusty ring in it every time I flush it. I squirt some toilet bowl cleaner in it after every use. It doesn't clean all the rust off but it keeps it from looking disgusting.
I stopped reading after the first 60 comments so don't know if anyone else suggested this but a method I used to remove "permanent" stains (those that resisted standard cleaning products) is to turn off the water supply, drain toilet then fill with white vinegar above the stain line and leave for at least 12 hours (24 if possible). the disgusting brown stains lift off, almost in one piece (yuck!) when wiped with a sponge & any standard cleaning product. Obviously, this won't work for under the rim and it won't remove all mineral deposit build up but no more brown stains or rust!
I had deep depression and my toiled looked same.. even worst, but after all this time alone i got a person in my life that truhly enlightenment me, suddenly i got the energy to move again and the moment she told she wants to visit me at home i had to do something. First spray and clean the part around the toiled then remove te lid and sitting part and buy new one, then the rusty bowl is last left, u gonna rescue it via vinegar and backing soda rub it together in 30min and brush it off. All this should give u a nice and clean toilet.
Wait, you rescued it with flowers and what? Depression looks like this - even though not in all cases. This one wasn’t I don’t think. But I’m so happy that you were led to someone in your love who enlightened you. That is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing that and bless you.
I found the easiest way to remove water from a bowl is to pour a bucket of water into it, just enough so the bowl will siphon empty. Leaving just a small amount in the trap. Works every time.
The first home I moved into 38 yrs ago had a toilet like this. Thought it was not fixable. We spent 3 days elsewhere waiting whilst new toilet was installed. Wish I'd known about this then.
Three days? A trip ro home depot or Amazon and in under an hour and two bolts later, you have an entirely new toilet installed, not just a new toilet seat, but a whole new toilet bowl , seat and tank for under $200. You don't need 14 exclamation points , but you do need to turn off the water valve. No plumber needed, no power tools needed, just a dab of effort ,an adjustable wrench, watch a couple of you tube videos. and get to it, it takes less time than cleaning that disgusting bowl.
I'm not passing any judgements, but it looks as though this bathroom needs a complete overhaul, not just a toilet scrubbing. And, we need to bring back home economics as a serious subject in high school.
I think what you do is awesome. My problem is that when I have to clean toilets I feel even nauseated. I wear gloves and everything but is so gross that i start gagging 🤢. I know I weird but I just can’t help it
My 🚽 has bout 4 yellow water stains underneath rim. I have tried every single thing from vinegar to baking soda, toilet bowl cleaner, WD 40, nothing works
I ended up cleaning my toilet which was needed and i have never spent so long scrubbing one thing for an hour straight, it was the first time ive spent so long, i was able to successfully remove 80% of the grime/build up of that stuff stuck to the toilet.
That bathroom as a whole doesn't even look like it's ever been cleaned. The walls and the floor are absolutely gross. I think all bathrooms that are Built-in homes should have a floor drain. A video that I would like to see made by someone is how to get out the smell in the walls of a bathroom especially around a toilet. I bought a house where the previous owner obviously did not take care of the bathroom walls around the toilet. It seems no matter what I do the urine smell just will not come out. I have 2 choices, tear out the drywall and redo it or put in tile. I am open to suggestions or solutions.
That is not a rust hard water issue that is more then likely a diabetic is using that toilet and if they are not tightly controlled then it does that to your toilet. My mom's toilet always looked like that and she did not have her glucose levels under control. My grandmother had her glucose very well controlled and only once in a while did her toilet get like that.
How the heck did damage happen under a toilet seat? Water doesn’t splash up there and corrode the toilet seat. There is only 3 things that splash up onto your seat, vomit, urine and diarrhea. That has to be from those splashing up and not getting cleaned properly afterwards. Notice most of the toilet seat grime was at the back where your butt is, hence my point. Rust or hard water deposits etc do not come off that easily. Also if you don’t want water in the bowl, turn the water off at the toilet shut off then flush and the bowl will be empty no plunger needed.
American toilet flush level is so high! Australian standards are so different. Great video by the way. Thank you. We bought a house and the ex husband had been squatting in the shed and I need to deal with it sooner or later 🤢
Ironically my latest video tested this. Much, much more work and scrubbing. Both will scratch a little bit if you have a ring that means it’s already scratched. Just by chemicals like the water and anything else in it.
So after 8 minutes, the answer was that she just bought a new toilet.... nice. I can understand why: You will spend way more hours, and probably as much money on useless cleaning supplies, trying to clean it, than it takes to spend $120 on a new toilet and spend only an hour to install it.
it makes me so sad seeing some of these comments. for years i’ve begged my parents to address the mold and nastiness built up in the toilet and several other spots with no hope. i decided to try and tackle it myself but the rust isn’t budging at all. makes me pretty sad. people don’t think about kids like me in these situations much :( getting left with their parents damage to clean up

When Urine Gone originally hit the market it came with the black light. I did try Urine Gone on the walls around the toilet it helped a little bit. When you see what a black light will show you, you might want to run.
Use Sheetrock sanding screen! It’s awesome on the stubborn rings and areas that pumice don’t❤️
I haven't heard of that but thanks for the tip. Maybe we'll try in a future video and compare. Just gotta find a bad toilet first...
@@CleanFreakGermaphobe come to my house! My toilet looks just like that one. But maybe not now that I have these tips. Thanks!
Props to you. It takes a lot of guts to clean that condition toilet. But with the guts it takes, it also earns the same amount of respect.
That makes my day, thanks for your kind comment.
If you have a septic tank, make sure all of these things are septic safe. If they are septic safe, it will say so. If it doesn't say septic safe on the label DON'T USE IT!
Thank you for the magic eraser tip for the bottom of the bowl! Just the tip I was looking for for the black spot. Worked great 👍
I’m going to try it. The spot is hard to clean with the pumice stone.
I don’t believe I have ever in my long life seen a toilet that close up before. 😵💫
Clearly haven’t been drunk … 😂😂😂😭😭😭
Love Lysol rust product. Made tough job easy. Thanks 😊.
Thank you so much! My toilet has looked like thos forever and NO MATTER what I can't get it looking like normal. I will definitely try this on my toilet (renting apartment from the 1950's)
THANK YOU! I was soooooo relievedd when you FINALLY decided to shift the shower curtain out of the way. That for me, would've been STEP 1. 🤭🤭🤣🤣
Great Job! However, I heard you can foul up your plumbing with those tank additives. 👍🏻👍🏻
Yes, you have to be careful with over-using tank cleaners, and detergent. I use them occasionally; but eventually you can ruin that rubber flap which lifts up off the pipe opening when you press down the handle to flush. Of course, all of these part can be replaced easily if they do get worn.
Simple green industrial cleaner & degreaser. Try it . It’s my go to cleaner
Whatever remove toilet stains because I have a stubborn stain on my toilet it won't come off like inside the bowl
I just learned a lot here. Thank you! We rent so I’m not going to go buy a toilet. Not to mention, with lime and rust I need to learn how to maintain it. So thank you!
Own rent houses...one word..
Vinegar left in toilet to soak is amazing 👏
Put vinegar in the cistern and it will eat the rubber seals which will cause the toilet to leak ... Great idea for a landlord to give.
Where can I get it?
BTW. I Never place a plunger on the floor! I buy those plastic dishes you put under planters and they are perfect for plungers. Or I use a plastic planter pot that it fits in. Placing a used plunger on your bathroom floor is gross!
It's very simple to remove the seat and do a proper cleaning. Many nasties under those seat mounts.
Magic eraser - tks for the hint. So useful video. Tks a lot! I will buy the disinfectant to go to the water box as well.
Thanks for your comment. To be honest, I thought it would be for the lid but it did nothing there.
Replace the toilet seat. Not expensive. The Lime away from Dollar tree is AMAZING for hard water stains. I have well water and cannot escape it.
Keep watching...the whole toilet got trashed!
@@CleanFreakGermaphobe I watched that part too. Just saying that the smell in the toilet seat cannot be scrubbed out like it an in the porcelain.
Dollar tree cleaning products are great.. And amazingly affordable
Thanks
That's exactly what I think. If my toilet ever got to this extreme, I'd totally buy another one.
When you have a well or very hard water this can happen over time. These cleaning suggestions are valuable.
My most embarrassing encounter, I had wit an elderly toulet woman. 🥵🥵 Can you feel with me ??
I’m very impressed with the toilet. Tyfs I’m dealing with the same rust and stuff in my toilet bowl. Not gonna lie, I’m planning on upgrading my toilet but my plumber told me it’s not needed. He did use a pumice stone, and it looks better so I will take it from there and we will see what happens!
Is the plunger on the floor😬 looks more like it just needed cleaned more than anything.Hard water stains/rust stains don't wipe off so easily. I used everything & nothing took them off. Had to replace:/ New here & going to definitely check out other videos. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching. You’re right, sometimes you have to just replace it!
Make sure if you clean behind the tank, look out for black widows.
Look at the wall next to the toilet. Is that mold?
Yeah that mineral build up in that small hold is an issue for me as well. I’m not sure what’s in our water but everything turns that orange color. I really have to clean the toilet every 3 days in order to try and keep it from coming back. I don’t think it’s so much that this person doesn’t clean her toilet, it really is either the water or the plumbing.
Yes!! Thank you for saying that. It was her boy’s bathroom and it wasn’t especially clean, but the orange stuff, that’s from the plumbing for sure.
A pumice stone scratches off the smooth, shiny porcelain leaving rough porcelain exposed and causing limestone and calcium to deposit 100% easier than before.
Baking soda and vinger as well works and Coke cola 2 litre..
I use SOS pads and either Lysol or Clorox disinfecting wipes to clean my toilet and the floors of the bathroom works perfectly! 😊
Basic round toilet seats of that nature are
I took 50 grit sandpaper and wet-sanded it away. Took 20 minutes. Now it looks brand new.
Consider getting an electric scrub brush or one of the brushes that fits onto a drill.
Thanks 🙏🏽 for the video and the difference use of products. Something real satisfying 😊to see things be cleaned
If you lift the caps that connect the seat and slid forward the seat comes away from the bowl. Makes cleaning so much easier
You can take the toilet seat off and put it in the bathtub. Thank you for helping this person!
@@CleanFreakGermaphobe sorry English is not my first language, i change it up to vinegar and backing soda
Wow, looks tons better. A steam cleaner would get to hard to reach areas and blast out tiny spaces. Just needs a new toilet seat!!
I found the easiest way to remove water from a bowl is to pour a bucket of water into it, just enough so the bowl will siphon empty. Leaving just a small amount in the trap. Works every time.
The best way to remove limescale is neat vinegar.
And I think a new toilet seat is required you can see the MDF board.
Wow. Great paper towel tip. I never thought of doing that. Thanks.
Replace the toilet seat when I move into a new place I always replace it. Its only $20.
Yes after this video she replaced her toilet seat.
I'm not passing any judgements, but it looks as though this bathroom needs a complete overhaul, not just a toilet scrubbing. And, we need to bring back home economics as a serious subject in high school.
It did need a lot more work! It’s an older home and they were working on updating it. It taught me that your home can cause worse messes.
I want you to clean my house- absolutely amazing!
The Works toilet bowl cleaner used to be the best until they changed the formula or something
I agree. The Basic version worked. The Toilet Cleaner version doesn't. Can't find Basic anywhere.
What is good to keep the rust from coming inside the toilet and also the the mule inside the toilet in the rim
I think what you do is awesome. My problem is that when I have to clean toilets I feel even nauseated. I wear gloves and everything but is so gross that i start gagging 🤢. I know I weird but I just can’t help it
... how did you clean the toilet bowl where the water is leaking from the inside. Look with the camera and you will see that there are deposits
Taking the lid/seat off and outside to clean with hose and let the sun dry/bleach is much easier.
My 🚽 has bout 4 yellow water stains underneath rim. I have tried every single thing from vinegar to baking soda, toilet bowl cleaner, WD 40, nothing works
Thank you. My parents have not been taking care of their home, and it is disgusting.
Thank you for caring enough to learn how and clean up.
Great job! So disgusting & graphic! I was holding my shirt over my nose 🤣
I ended up cleaning my toilet which was needed and i have never spent so long scrubbing one thing for an hour straight, it was the first time ive spent so long, i was able to successfully remove 80% of the grime/build up of that stuff stuck to the toilet.
Nice work!
Thank you so much, my toilet is similar and no where was as thorough as this
If you clean your toilet weekly you won’t have a toilet that looks like it’s been abused for 100 years
When you have well water, the rust & mineral stains eventually build up no matter what
for that stuff at the bottom, leave a can of coke, the contents in the toilet overnight
You are a very brave lady! I may have thrown the entire toilet away😫 Great Job on this!
Hey , my toothbrush tastes funny
How the heck did damage happen under a toilet seat? Water doesn’t splash up there and corrode the toilet seat. There is only 3 things that splash up onto your seat, vomit, urine and diarrhea. That has to be from those splashing up and not getting cleaned properly afterwards. Notice most of the toilet seat grime was at the back where your butt is, hence my point. Rust or hard water deposits etc do not come off that easily.
Also if you don’t want water in the bowl, turn the water off at the toilet shut off then flush and the bowl will be empty no plunger needed.
New seat and lid, and a scraper on the stainm
Wonderful information and great video
American toilet flush level is so high! Australian standards are so different. Great video by the way. Thank you. We bought a house and the ex husband had been squatting in the shed and I need to deal with it sooner or later 🤢
You’re amazing and so very kind!
Why not use a powdered kitchen cleanser like Ajax or bar keeper friend? they are abrasive without causing damage like the pumice stone can.
Excellent job as usual.
it makes me so sad seeing some of these comments. for years i’ve begged my parents to address the mold and nastiness built up in the toilet and several other spots with no hope. i decided to try and tackle it myself but the rust isn’t budging at all. makes me pretty sad. people don’t think about kids like me in these situations much :( getting left with their parents damage to clean up
