    Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! My mother is Afro-Ecuadorian and this is the first time I have seen her existence recognized. I hope other people in the Americas recognize Afro-Latinos and their contributions.

      Crazy to think how in the XXI Century there are still countries in the Americas that just now starting to take into account their black population, I'm Nicaragüense and is not perfect but we at least have done a good job in that sense, Nicaragua is the country with the largest population of Afrodescendientes in central america . We see each other as brothers and sisters despite the fact we don't speak the same language nor culture

      @@FreedomIsMineOfficial we went to Esmeraldas when I was a kid I remember being very impressed to see black people living there and asked him how can it be? He answered this: in college I learned that these black folks came from a sinking slave ship and came to this land swimming their way from the sea. But when I was a kid like you I came with my grandfather and he told me the black man has always been here. As old as our own people is their history in this land perhaps older he said. When i pressed to know more of it he told me his grandfather told him centuries ago black people came from the great ocean in great ships. They were looking for corn and gold things our people had plenty of. They taught us how to build and how to write and also a lot of magic and strange science. We gave em maiz and gold some of them returned to the black lands others stood here forever. It's really fascinating to see that drawing of those Black Caciques I always thought only Indian Caciques used jewelry in the face.

    I’m going to Ecuador this year 2021 and I will be visiting Esmeralda Ecuador 🇪🇨 if you know how to dance all types of Spanish music then, you will be right at home with the people of Esmeralda because Esmeralda is known for nightlife dancing. You’re not only going to have a Ecuadorian population you’ll also have a South American population because their is a lot of Colombians, Venezuelans, Peruvian and people from all over Latin America.

    Marimba music doesn't originate in Esmeraldas. The main cradle of this cultural expression is southern Colombia especially around Timbiquí & Guapi and is intangible UNESCO world heritage. Esmeraldas is an extension of this culture but the original and most revered folk traditions of Marimba/Currulao are concentrated in southern Colombia. The Petronio Alvarez festival and La Negra Grande de Colombia are testament to this. You should see the song, "Aunque mi amo me mate a la mina no voy".

      Marimba doesn't originate in Colombia . it comes from African people who takes with us , so the Marimba belongs to Colombia as it does to the Ecuador. Esmeraldas is not an extension , the traditions have been the same both in Colombia and Ecuador. they just developed differently over time. In conclusion both countries have the same culture. There are afro songs invented in Colombia as in Ecuador

    • @jonygq
      @jonygq 3 года назад +2

      @@1989Michelito Of course it comes from African people but the Marimba de Chonta instrunent, the main iconic instrument of Currulao (the mother genre of all marimba music in the Americas) is made from a local wood which gives it its unique sound. The expressions have also evolved to create their own new song structures in the "new world" making it a completely new set of genres. As always with genres there is a main epicentre and that main epicentre is the region between Guapí & Timbiquí in souther Colombia. Hence the UNESCO World Heritage status of the region!
