Way to go Philly, constant forward movement, little by little and one day you wake up, and you notice you got a lot of stuff completed. Thanks for sharing your journey
Looking good, I lived in the PI for 18 months in 67 and 68, love watching your videos from Angeles city and now your new home. Watch all the time keep up the good work, Mike Goodyear, Arizona.
Been a subscriber for a couple of years now. Love watching your videos. Always entertaining and informative. Keep up the good work and God bless your family.
Wow, really happy to see this. I think you will love it there. The sense of community you will find away from the city will be great for you and your family. It's going to be a lot of work but what else you got to do? Once the house is finished you can start community outreach, so nice!
Thank you for sharing your up date it is looking good little at a time it will be the way you want it in no time. you and Family be safe stay healthy.👍👍👍👍👍
Very interesting watching you adjust to Province life. You seem to be taking it l all in in stride. That's a good sign. It pays to have family watching your back. Thank you for sharing. smile 😃 B😃B
More power to you Philly. You got more grit than I could have and I lived in Angeles City when Clark AFB was there. Love the PI, but loved that I could go on the AFB and get all the amenities. I guess I am just a spoiled American. I could not do it especially without modern healthcare.
You save money on electricity by having many windows, keep the inside of the house bright without turning the lights. Save more electricity by adding screens to the windows and just turn the electric fans on, no need to use air con and let be breeze in. Breathing fresh air is healthy.
Every one is in the west is pretty much brainwashed with rules and regulations the rule makers don't care if you live or die BUT YOU MUST DO THIS AND THAT. It is all about control foot on your neck so to speak HEY it is not like this in the Philippines. I will tell you the government thinks more of it's citizens here in PH.
I bought 4 sheets of 1/2" plywood yesterday to build shelves in my jungle workshop. It gets delivered today. I'm excited! All I have to cut it with is a 24V Sawzall, but it will have to do. I paid P750 a sheet including about 9km delivery.
Hello to all of you. How is grandma? I hope she is doing better. So your frezzer is fixed now? If you and Lott move into a different place maybe one day. At lest you will leave them with a nice house. Which is awesome. The house it nice.
House project looking excellent, the windows are supper cool looking 😎.Cannot wait to see the house finished 🙌. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻 Take care..😊👍🏻✌🏻🇬🇧
I can't tell too much about your upstairs, but I worry it may not have enough concrete and steel to resist a typhoon. I'd hate to see that beautiful work be damaged.
I like the slatted windows up high, that will let the hot air out and pull outside air in thru the windows lower down. Things are really starting to shape up Brian. No wonder you seem so happy. Phil
$23.27/sheet in PH. $32.00/sheet in Phoenix AZ today. That's for sheathing which I assume is similar quality of what you got. In the US we would use a higher quality for cabinets or much lower quality chip board. Also wonder if what you got was actually 3/4 and not 3/8 or 1/2 since 3/4 might be overkill and Filipino aren't know for overkill.
Philly , having a lot of windows is free light even skylights and solar balls are Very helpful free light. Love the chainsaw woodsmenship at the beginning. Thanks for sharing.
If you were offered that home in angeles to rent for 100 dollars a month you would of said no. That is what i find weird about people who move to that country....they rent nice places for cheap but when they build they live in amazing awful places for basicly the same price but live in terrible conditions.
Being that we are all differant my cup of tea is BGC compared to living in the privince..I guess im spoiled with all the modern amenities..Now,if i need a touch of beach life and serenity I head to Bantayan Island..
I like the basketweave siding on the outside walls upstairs. That looks Nice. I am sure when it is all done it will be a Beautiful Home. It takes time, everything in steps. Most people still live in Nippa Huts over there. I stayed in a Night in a Nippa Hut and it was comfortable. 😊
Bought 2 4x8 3/4 sheets of exterior plywood last Wednesday at lumber yard (Mass), each sheet was $46.81. There are varied grades, wood types, OSB, birch etc...price depends greatly on type of plywood.
Looks like your StarLink is working well. As much camera and computer work you do you should consider a small solar setup on a UPS to protect your electronics when you lose power. Even if it only gives you an hour that would be enough to save your work so it doesn't become lost in cyber space like that guy that had all his bitcoins disappear.
Looks good,,one day at a time,,thanks for sharing..by the way they have small chest freezer you could use for a back up,,at a later date..not that expensive,,😊
Hey Brain, how is Hanna, how is she doing? And how are her further studies going? Haven't heard from her in a long time and it would be nice if a video of her came to us. Congratulations on your renovations and your different lifestyle.🤩
House is looking good, amazed at the progress, also 3/4 plywood is around $40 each around my area in CA, custom windows forget it lol, your whole window budget would probably cover 1 window here. Nway cheers and stay safe!
Way to go nice one step at a time . Hello from allentown pa . It would look cool putting a restaurant style vent to your dirty kitchen, also putting a vent to you top floor .. like your channel
6:48 Not seeing any metal strapping on the rafters. You don't get any high winds there? Super cheap insurance. If not available in PH or to save money they're super easy to make your yourself and labor being so cheap. I saw a video out of PH a couple years ago by Filipina blogger who has just completed a very nice small house. Just a few weeks after moving in a typhoon hit. Her family members where crammed into the house because it was concrete. During the night in the wind the roof over a bedroom started to give way and the brothers were tying rope to the rafters and trying to hold down the roof. But the wind took it and almost the brothers too because they couldn't let go fast enough. Would have ended badly if someone's foot had gotten tangled in the roof. No metal strapping was used. Nails only. Many Americans complain about gov and building codes. But they save people a lot of damage and money overall. The very large overhangs will make excellent sails unfortunately. Hopefully the sheet metal will pull off before the rafters go.
@@PhillyinthePhilippines Very much so. I'm retired...spent several years in the Philippines as a younger person...Iloilo province. Wife is from the Philippines and will be retiring next year. She is starting to talk a bit about building a house back there...spending more time there. So, your videos are very nice to view...envision myself back there dealing with the issues that you speak about. I hope that Lot and you can make a home and life on that island. Having her family around can be a gold mine in taking care of you (refrigerator issue). I would try to run everything through them. He or she can also be very helpful and, they would also really appreciate a foreigner reaching out to them and going through the process of introducing yourself. Take care. Enjoy your videos!!
Hello Brian I am watching your last video you’re saying about putting wooden cabinets in the kitchen. Big word of advice in the Philippines termites flying termites and they do get into your wood. My suggestion is make those cabins underneath concrete. Just don’t make it any type of wood because the Philippines is big time termites
@@PhillyinthePhilippines I don’t know but look into it maybe pressure-treated wood maybe to termite on attack that wood if it’s pressure-treated, I don’t know but just be very careful big-time termites if you watch Mel Jean salon Vlog, she built her house, made her cabinets out of wood and then she opened up the cabinet one day and inside there was loaded with termites
@@PhillyinthePhilippinessome homeowners prefer kitchen cabinets made of aluminum. They last longer than plywood & are not prone to termites. They're more expensive, though. If interested, you can ask your glass/ aluminum fabricator (the one who made your windows) if they make kitchen cabinets.
Looking sharp one project at a time congrats ✌️
Thanks 👍
Looking awesome... Thanks for the updates...
It’s all come in along real nice , very well done Brian 👍🏼👋

Chain saw and flip flops,,OSHA manuals just caught fire world wide,,joke lang😊..videos are always interesting,,way better than walking street..
Chainsaw = circular, table, skill saw and axe Too…..
The chainsaw guy that came over when I was building my house was also wearing flip flops. Seems to be the norm in the Philippines

That's a wasp. Several of those will kill off an entire beehive. Get that out of your house and your property and keep the screens closed.

Is a flat (or slightly sloped) concrete roof a reasonable alternative in the Philippines?
Lots of windows= lots of natural daylight= less lights on= lower electricity bill 😁
