While I do think that the new Test Track is really good, there are many things that they should have kept. The old Test Track felt more 'complete', with the suspension and weather tests. The new Test Track replaced those two with 'scans' of the car, which is really nothing but a cruise through what was originally there. I can see why they took them out (maybe some riders felt uncomfortable with the bumps and heat) but I still think they should have remained on the ride. My favorite part about the new Test Track is how you can create your own car and view the test results. Being someone who likes coming up with designs and prototypes of cars, that is a great addition.
93 here too, the old one actually is big enough that if they filled in the "scalextrix" rail I could drive my real British car around that as a test run. The Tron style one I hate

I do like the appearance of the 'new' Test Track. The indoor segments are very reminiscent of a 1980s arcade game, as your car is going through a simulation. But I do agree they should have kept things like the bumpy road, and the hot/cold room.
If they combined both of them together, the ride would be even better. *EDIT* But the worse part about this ride is that the line is always so long ;n;.
You have every right to critique me but I think the new one is an improvement. It’s absolutely GORGEOUS, more modern, and just like the old one, very creative (there’s absolutely nothing like it, same with the old one). And the new version does a great job presenting what Epcot is supposed to be about: the future!
To be perfectly honest, I like the new Test Track a bit better than the old one. Why? Well, while the original was a great thrill ride, it's aesthetic was just sort of unpleasing, to me anyways., I don't like my "Immersive" Disney rides looking so, Industrial. I know that was the appeal for a good chunk of people, but it wasn't for me. The new one on the other hand, has a great aesthetic. Many people have compared the new ride's aesthetic to the world of "TRON" and, to be honest, That's part of the reason I like it so much. I've been wanting a "TRON" based ride ever since I saw "TRON: Legacy" in 3D a few years back. And,So Far, This is the closest thing we have to a "TRON" ride. And Let's be honest, It's still the same ride just with a new coat of paint. Some people don't like the new one, some people do. In the end,it's all opinion based.
I've ridden on both versions but for some reason the only thing I remembered about the og version was the Heat Chamber. But watching this video really proves how much more I love the new version over the old one. I'm upset that I won't get to ride it again on my next trip as it'll be closed by the time my next two trips come
The 2.0 version looks more like Tron, or Hotwheels acceleracers. Although the Car design station is unique, it's still annoying. It takes LONGER to wait for the ride for a stupid graphic not real car, and you can only use it ONCE. The 1.0 original one had a preview video instead, that showed much quicker. The original has more of the real design, instead of the new one with a video-game-like appearance. Honestly, I like the original better. The new one is fun too, (My parents work at Disney World) but it takes longer and takes away the perfect "testing" experience.
I like the new version much better. I feel that it is like your in a virtual testing environment, rather than an actual testing environment, which I think adds to it, because it is like a world that you can't actually go to, unlike the old one which was just "warehouse-ish". I do wish they would have kept the heat and cold tests, because the new things in that portion of the ride are very dull and lazily done, but overall I think that the new version keeps it generally more exiting throughout.
Personally, the old version has my heart. While I love the new color scheme and the ability to design your own car to "test", I feel that the ride lost a lot of its original character, and it's fun nature of the warehouse feel. The subtraction of the heat and cold tests really made the ride rather dull, and while the new technology is very cool, it sometimes lacks the ability to be fun to be a part of. I always enjoyed playing the role of the "test dummy" in the old test track with thee practical tests and warehouse feel. Not only that, but I really enjoyed how the old test track went through a lot of car safety, whereas the new test track deals mostly with specs. (I may be a little bit biased, however. My grandfather actually invented the airbag, and it felt that the space for the airbag in queue was a tribute to him and his colleagues who collaborated on the invention. It was a very neat thing for me personally to see)
Nobody's even mentioning the fact that you get to create your own car before the ride and see how it scores against everyone else's and you get to do stuff with it after the ride like make a commercial and race it against others. The new version is way more interactive and entertaining than the old one.
Yeah, so the new Test Track is kind of a Disney take on car testing in computer programs. Besides, test track needed at new "tomorrow" theme (it was like that when it opened) because ABS breaking isn't "cutting edge" anymore.
I think the new Test Track is great! Everyone gets so worked up over changes around the parks and I think a lot of people let it go to their heads. I absolutely loved the first one as well, and I'll miss it, but the new one definitely fits EPCOT's Futureworld a lot better than the original. I really think everyone needs to relax a bit when it comes to change and embrace it. A lot of times it's for the better (Ex. RFID with everything).
I just think they could have changed the heat and cold tests to be more futuristic rather than doing away with them altogether. They could have done the same with the brake and suspension tests. I hope they bring it all back in a new and exciting way. It’s not really TEST Track without any tests.
I Understand that, but you don't feel any sensations like the hot or cold room, or anti-lock braking test or even a rough road test. This is all computer screens and tvs with pretty neon lights
I cant comment on the new version or the old version as i haven't seen them in person but i will say is, Very interesting seeing both side by side like this
If you were to go to the GM/Chevy test track, I garuantee you would see Test Track 1.0 and not the 2.0 version. What purpose does a tron look serve in building cars? I highly doubt that test tracks and proving grounds of the future will look like this.
People are really upset about the design your car element. It's not geared to you, it's geared to young minds that would find such an interactive element really exciting. I bet the same people complaining are the same willing to waste hours on an Angry Bird type game. It's just another way to engage people while they wait. Who wants to pay hundreds of dollars to stare at posters and cheesy videos for two hours in a line?
2.0 fits the theme of technology and the future better but 1.0 is a more appealing ride as it feels like you are learning (and experiencing) how they test cars. 1.0 also has a better queue with so much to look at and 2.0 it boring because they only have a few cars on display. I do like how you get to make your own car and test it in 2.0 though.
I honestly think the new one is better. Mainly because of the challenge aspect of it. It makes you feel as if you are a real part of the ride and you helped create it. And also I like that you can’t see the track so it’s more of a surprise
I know right? I don't know what Disney was thinking when they designed the new version of test track. They should've kept part of the old version, but make it where you could design your own car. THAT would be way better than screwing up one of their best attractions.
I went to Disney at the beginning of summer this year and was so excited for test track cause it was one of my favorites. I had no idea they changed the ride until I was on it and it just didn’t feel the same the whole inside part feels pointless and kinda boring I for sure preferred the old one (I still rode it like 12 times btw)
I say that new test track was marginally quicker than the old test track Just noticed that the new test track vehicle moved seconds before the old test track vehicle moved
I liked the old one brtter but the new one is good the old one was better cuz of the chambers and in the beginging we went soooo fast I thought it wouldent stop the fast part still feels the same but i wish it was faster :/
you are right in some areas, but you have to keep in mind... test track is supposed to teach people how companies (or more detailed chevrolet) test their "test" vehicles before they release them to the market. this new version of the ride, however, leans to a completely new theme that i cant understand. the old verson shows anti-lock brakes, barrier tests and etc, this new verison doesn't explain anything. they have some of the same test but they dont get explained enough. lack of theming.
1.0 will always be better because it was more varied, had a better theme, and was overall more of an experience. Also...when I rode 1.0 for the past few years, I never heard the "Push it! Harder!" "You got it!" part during the final outside loop. Did that stop working/get taken out?
No it was a bit more than that...What about the whole lab in the queue and some of the more detailed bits like the hot/cold/corrosion chambers. Its not necessarily about the "look" of one ride versus the other, rather how the experience plays out.
I will say that both of them are great in their own way. The only thing I miss however is the Heat and freezing chamber, but hey, at least they kept the truck. I also think they should have renovated a little more on the outdoor tracks, along with the fact when being on those tracks would be much better at night since the indoors are all nightime theme. Just that blinding light hitting you after escaping that dark indoor area can be a little strange an irritating. But yeah, thats my thought on it. But I'm glad they renovated the theme anyways. Gives a more futuristic feel when you're inside a park that relates to the theme of the future.
I guess they changed it since it was outdated and it was sorta dangerous since the ride could break down due to it being too fast. I rode the 2.0 version and it's pretty decent, considering I had to wait in a really long line while looking at Chevrolet cars but it's all worth it! Yes, the new one does look like Tron but I like it since I'm a video-game junkie. The design thing was annoying since my cousin and mother were complaining that the car won't work. The Power part was fast enough for me, you're just wearing a simple seatbelt so it won't be as fast as Expedition Everest or something. I prefer 2.0 since it allot more safer and has a more futuristic feel to it.
1.0 was decent it had more of a actual testing feel They had the heat chambers a corrosion chambers and the barrier test where your photo was taken I think with modern saftey standard s they could have modifyed the original
Thanks for posting this! Doesn't it kind of look like someone REALLY wanted to do a TRON ride, then someone told them they had to make it "GM" ish? Seriously - how cool would a TRON "realworld vs inworld" be?!?!?
Thanks for posting the side-by-side. I understand that a lot of the color/visuals of the new version are not visible here. New version seems to be a kinda futuristic dark ride. Old one had a "storyline". I couldn't tell what the heck the audio meant on the new one. I'll hold off more opinions until I ride it later this month.
I loved the old/best test track as a kid but the new one just sucks, it is so boring and not as industrial, the open and bright areas where the best part, and the thermal, cold, and paint rooms were my favorite, but they ruined it with the new one!
While I agree the old version was superior, the new one seems much more in-line with the futuristic theme of the Futureworld section than the old industrial theme.
Then when you enter the actual ride, it immerses you into the full design aspect of a car because face it, we are in a world where everything is made by computers. You're in this world going through obstacles and actually knowing what you're doing and why. It's visually compelling and actually really fun! The only con I miss are the hot and cold chambers but the good far outweigh the bad. This is what EPCOT was built to be. About innovation and the step toward tomorrow. This is real Epcot enter!
@chrisbDTM Agreed...I Like It When They Make These Kind Of Rides All Brand New Again...Its Kinda Interesting To See What They Did With The New Design Of The Ride And Everything =)
The rough road test needs to be brought back. And have more curves and hills on the final test, to make it feel more like what Radiator Springs racers is like.
now everybody is gonna trip all over themselves to prove they are the biggest test track hipster. things change, deal with it. we all rode the original test track tons of times. time for something new
Thank you for the upload! I don't like the removal of the hot and cold test chambers. I do like that now you can't see the other cars on the track much or the warehouse look of 1.0. I could do with less Tron but, admit that now this really fits Future World!
I loved the first one. It was like and actual test track. The ride narration of 2.0 is horrible and can be ignored. No matter how many times i rode 1.0, I was still excited. Also there is no longer a paint room or the hot and cold simulations. Those were great!
I may be in the small camp that prefers the new one overall but there are things I miss like the trick barrier test, they coulda kept it but I guess people got freaked out too much (but isn't that the point?) The Paint robots seem to have lived on in some way in Radiator Springs Racers with Ramone, so It's pretty much a nod to the old TT (along with Mack replicating the truck in both TTs). I like the visuals of the new one better because it's more retro and fits in with Retro Epcot feels. I hear there is a new version in the works that will play into retro Epcot even more so we will see.
I could agree with that, but I just really enjoyed the theme of the other ride better, and it seems like you only see the design of your car at the beginning and in the scene where the hot and cold rooms used to be...again I still need to ride it, but so far I liked the theme of the old ride better. Who knows, I could be wrong!
not true at all they still do a lot of testing on test tracks. You can actually see the one ford has if you go to the Henry ford museum in dearborn Michigan. If you go by it on a weekday you will see cars out on it.

Yeah, so the new Test Track is kind of a Disney take on car testing in computer programs. Besides, test track needed at new "tomorrow" theme (it was like that when it opened) because ABS breaking isn't "cutting edge" anymore.
left-Test Track; right-Test Track: Legacy
left-Test Track right-Test Track: Chevrolet.
They made this ride so much better
Bacon Anotor yeah by turning it into a boring no story Tron clone
-_-
@@NebulaCone People can have opinions. Chill.
I cant comment on the new version or the old version as i haven't seen them in person but i will say is, Very interesting seeing both side by side like this
Exactly!
great comparison. thanks for this!
I think I like the 1st version better but i'm not sure unless I actually ride it. Which I will do when I'm there in January!
Anyone else like the old one more? It is more realistic and doesn't have neon lights for everything
Yes yes yes!
I think they both have their pros and cons. 2 ultimately wins out for me because I love the goofy in-car competition.
Actually I like the design your own car. It teaches you about engineering a little bit, not to mention it kills time while waiting.
Stop making fun of test track. It's what's on the inside that counts! She's just going through a phase!
Yeah ,everything on the inside has change and nothing on the outside
WOAH at 2:54 you can see the old symbol still there on the new ride!
Ya know that Disney is closing the ride for maintenance in January right? Wonder what that’s gonna do…
i like the new one, Walt Disney World is always changing, and improving every year, that's awesome!
Ok, I'm fine with all the changes, BUT! They neeeeeed to bring the Heat and Freeze Chambers back.
I agree.
I honestly think the new one is better. Mainly because of the challenge aspect of it. It makes you feel as if you are a real part of the ride and you helped create it. And also I like that you can’t see the track so it’s more of a surprise
def 1.0 much better
xPusheen yeah but it looks like tron not a test track
xPusheen Everything in Future World's outdated lmao
THE OLD ONE IS BETTER THAN THIS NEW JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know right? I don't know what Disney was thinking when they designed the new version of test track. They should've kept part of the old version, but make it where you could design your own car. THAT would be way better than screwing up one of their best attractions.
King B Awesome but this new one is better than NO TEST TRACK AT ALLL
King B Awesome but the old one is best
Exactly
King B Awesome exactly
1.0 and 2.0 was fantastic
thats what "Test Track" is all about. Have you ever been to a real one
I miss the original. It was always cool to see what goes into putting a car on the road beside the manufacturer of it
Well done.
I like both test tracks
I say that new test track was marginally quicker than the old test track
Just noticed that the new test track vehicle moved seconds before the old test track vehicle moved
ok well there exactly the same ecept with some special effects go on the new test track its really cool u cant say anything inless you have been on it
Because if you think of an actual car testing zone which one would you think resembles it the most? The 1.0 or the 2.0
I vote for the old one!, It had so much more detail to look at.
I liked the old one brtter but the new one is good the old one was better cuz of the chambers and in the beginging we went soooo fast I thought it wouldent stop the fast part still feels the same but i wish it was faster :/
I am not getting into if I like or not, if its better or not as good as the first....until I ride it!
you are right in some areas, but you have to keep in mind... test track is supposed to teach people how companies (or more detailed chevrolet) test their "test" vehicles before they release them to the market. this new version of the ride, however, leans to a completely new theme that i cant understand. the old verson shows anti-lock brakes, barrier tests and etc, this new verison doesn't explain anything. they have some of the same test but they dont get explained enough. lack of theming.
I’m glad they kept the truck model in and didn’t remove it and replace it with lights to make it look like a truck is there.
1.0 was decent it had more of a actual testing feel
They had the heat chambers a corrosion chambers and the barrier test where your photo was taken
I think with modern saftey standard s they could have modifyed the original
Did they slow the track down at some point?
LOVED THE OLD ONE. PERIOD.
Thanks for posting this! Doesn't it kind of look like someone REALLY wanted to do a TRON ride, then someone told them they had to make it "GM" ish? Seriously - how cool would a TRON "realworld vs inworld" be?!?!?
The one in the left in the barrier test sounds like a fire alarm
Bring back the first version
Thanks for posting the side-by-side. I understand that a lot of the color/visuals of the new version are not visible here. New version seems to be a kinda futuristic dark ride. Old one had a "storyline". I couldn't tell what the heck the audio meant on the new one. I'll hold off more opinions until I ride it later this month.
I loved the old/best test track as a kid but the new one just sucks, it is so boring and not as industrial, the open and bright areas where the best part, and the thermal, cold, and paint rooms were my favorite, but they ruined it with the new one!
How did it got even ruined?
While I agree the old version was superior, the new one seems much more in-line with the futuristic theme of the Futureworld section than the old industrial theme.
ohhhbso that explains why last time i went to epcot and it wasnt open
Then when you enter the actual ride, it immerses you into the full design aspect of a car because face it, we are in a world where everything is made by computers. You're in this world going through obstacles and actually knowing what you're doing and why. It's visually compelling and actually really fun! The only con I miss are the hot and cold chambers but the good far outweigh the bad. This is what EPCOT was built to be. About innovation and the step toward tomorrow. This is real Epcot enter!
that looks awesome :D
I love the new Test Track is so futuristic!
@chrisbDTM Agreed...I Like It When They Make These Kind Of Rides All Brand New Again...Its Kinda Interesting To See What They Did With The New Design Of The Ride And Everything =)
Plus if you take the single riders row in 2.0 you just or have no time to design or just can change very few features to your vehicle.
does the new one have the hot and cold rooms?
The rough road test needs to be brought back. And have more curves and hills on the final test, to make it feel more like what Radiator Springs racers is like.
I love 2.0!!!
now everybody is gonna trip all over themselves to prove they are the biggest test track hipster. things change, deal with it. we all rode the original test track tons of times. time for something new
There both good.
I haven't been on the new one yet but by the looks of it, they should have never changed it... I'll miss the old one
I guess it's kind of a cool upgrade. Wish they would've done more to the outside other than adding colored lights.
Thank you for the upload! I don't like the removal of the hot and cold test chambers. I do like that now you can't see the other cars on the track much or the warehouse look of 1.0. I could do with less Tron but, admit that now this really fits Future World!
I really liked the update, but the older one is my favorite.
I hear there is a new version in the works that will play into retro Epcot even more so we will see.
have you been on it? it looks slow in the video but trust me it feels alot faster than the original! :)
Not much of a difference but adding a bunch of neon lights. What was the point again?
This was my favorite ride when I was a kid and now its ruined
NO. BESIDES, I LIKE Chevrolet.
@@needforspeedgamer7656he is right
Before test track was like a actual testing track where you go in a actual GM auto
Plant and testing laboratory
You get to see how real cars would be tested
I met someone who tested tesla cars
At the tesla factory
Sometimes they get to drive them through things and stuff
The old one had spirit to it with the heat and cool chambers giving more feel to it
The new one is just utter garbage
It barley has anything to do with testing
All you do is just throttle up and down
And most of the rooms are empty
During the supposted “ weather testing “
Part
All there is is just lightning and other things on a screen from the wall
But don’t get me wrong
The que where you can make your own virtual car is pretty amazing
If that was combined with the original
It would have made it 10x better
But I think that feature is broken now
And thanks to the COVID 19 pemdemic which other people touch the console
They decided to permanently remove it
So I think the old one was definitely better
Besides Gm OWNS Chevy
@@needforspeedgamer7656and afterwards when you left there were two ques one of them was themed to be a car factory where cars are being built by robots
And afterwards is a gift shop
The new one just may have nothing else but the cars you designed
@@needforspeedgamer7656he is right this ride was once gold but now it’s ruined by utter garbage
It does.. It's suppose to look futuristic looking, but it kind of reminds me of space mountain with those flashing lines and sounds. Epcot is all about change, and that's what they did. I'm not really liking it, but still, great ride.
