To sing over Nat King Cole's originals is like painting over the Monalisa... that's the risk when we touch a masterpiece. Nat's perfection dwarfs any contribution and make it sound like unnecessary arabesques and useless decoration. Sorry John... for much as I like you, you just added noise to a diamond !!!
The only time it works is with his daughter, Natalie, accompanying his vocals. Everyone else can’t do anything justice when it comes to Nat.

I wonder if the remaining Cole sisters, Casey and Timolin, approved of this duet? I like John Legend as an artist and musician but this duet did not work. John brought nothing new or excitement to an already perfect classic song. The only other artist that blends perfectly with Nat King Cole is his daughter Natalie. Their voices just worked together magically. I wish John would attempt to do a duet with one of Natalie’s songs. Natalie was a fan of John so that might work out. I loved his duet with Aretha Franklin. John is a gifted artist and songwriter. This duet just didn’t work. It holds its on weight just as it is.
