Thanks for this, Rik is one of my favourite musicians, guitarist, singer songwriter of my whole life. I saw Triumph twice back in the 80's, and saw Rik's solo career shows I think 5 or 6 times, the Ipso Facto show at the Brick in Montreal was awesome, that's the last time I saw him with a full rockin' band ! So many great songs, it's not just Lay it on the line or magic power, other lesser known songs that are so good, like Let the light (shine on me), Saved by love, Middle ground, Heaven only knows, Bang on, Dig a little deeper, Calling St. Cecilia, The Longing, Let me be the one, just to name a few of my favourites !
Rik is one of the absolute BEST singers and players in rock music. Cool guy too! Plus so many amazingly written songs! There are Triumph songs you can hear over and over and still love.
Rik is the real deal!! One of the greatest guitarist of all time. Great song writer too. I’ll never stop listening!! Thx Rik.
Excellent conversation.❤
I hope someday, I am fortunate to meet Rik . Thank you for the great things you and Triumph gave to us.
Where is the collaboration with Alex and James ? I love all 3 and when I saw the title I Love Rik Emmet and was Stoked to see the video but it's only click bait sadly!
I saw Rik in Ardrie Alberta sometime around the release of Marcos Secret songBook which I think is his best work. It brought his career full circle. No he didn't play anything off that recording. People wouldn't have known any of the songs he said. Fair enough. The crowds was older had been through their battles in life and for better or worse were there to see this guy they remembered who used to play in Triumph. Anyway, I had the feeling I would never see him again live. But the music remains and now some new music is being released and a book. If you wait long enough there's always stuff being made. I loved his midsummers night dream with Steve Morse as well. I too wanted more. I have always wondered why Satch and Vai never asked Rik to do a G3 across Canada. I may be odd. I love guitar music. From VH to Joe Pass. Tommy Emmanuel to Ana Vidovic its all good or not good music to me. Who doesn't love Yngwie Malmsteen? Come on the Trilogy Suite? Anyway it's nice to reminisce and to post your feelings. Take care all. Play guitar!

Middle Ground is one of the best Rik Emmett songs. The bridge verse in it is just fantastic. Another great Emmett song that's little known is If Only from the mostly forgettable Sport of Kings.
I might be one of the few that was happy to see Rik leave Triumph. He just had soooo much more to offer than what format Triumph could offer.
Allied forces changed my life.
