i like that this show didn't push the narrative of forgiving your parent even if they were neglectful/abusive towards you. they even throw shade at that with donggeun's mom constantly screaming about how they're "blood"
a true revenge show indeed!
Fantastic acting by Song Hye-kyo during that whole end scene. “Thank you, mother, for staying the same.” If I understood that correctly she was thanking her for not changing because Dong-Eun is able to get revenge on her mother without feeling any guilt.
They make it easier for dong eun
My interpretation was she was purposefully trying to push her mom into doing something crazy (and catch it in 4k) so she would have the evidence. For what, I won't say for spoilers, but we do know Dong-Eun's method of getting revenge is getting/having/presenting blackmail and watch people kill themselves - emotionally, financially, and physically - over it.

i heard this exact same thing from my coworker. she hates her boss so much bc the boss is such a bully that she developed anxiety. she told me that she prays everyday that her boss would never change so one day it would bite her in the ass.
Dong euns mom was the person that pissed me off the absolute most in this show how can any parent do that to their own
One of the saddest parts about society (and this is on a global scale) is that women are pressured to have and keep babies that they don't actually want. Being a parent is really hard, being a good parent is even harder, so some parents will quite literally hate their children and blame them for their own sadness. It was clear this lady didn't even see Dong-Eun as a human being; a burden to abandon when she was a child and eventually an profitable asset as an adult. I guess one of the reasons why it's so painful to watch is because we know this kind of messed up relationship is more common than it should be.

For me its because of the betrayal aspect. Yeon-Jin and the others were nobody to Dong-Eun. Just monsters who ruined her life. But her Mother, the person she should be able to rely on for love and affection, the person that should have had her back through her bullying, the one person who she should've been able to rely on for help, was just another bully who saw her as a punching bag.
Dong-Eun's mother was the first "fire" that burned her by betraying her in the beginning, she even colored her hair here to look the part.
I love that Yeon-jin is saved in the phone as "the b*tch who should rot in a dench" 😂😂

South Korean dramas aired on South Korean TV, not on Netflix, featured as many really crazy villains as Dong-eun's mother, or even more.
I've seen a lot of evil characters who commit evil deeds that far exceed expectations, and I'm used to it...
Probably, quite a few South Koreans, including me, would not have been greatly inspired by Dong-eun's mother's evil deeds.
In South Korean TV dramas, there are really crazy villains that you can't imagine.
The author's imagination is amazing.
i hear it from somewhere about that girl dye her hair they believe it will mess up the drug test so she can dodge the drug test or something like that.
I think most of the audience view Dong Eun's mom as the most hated character in this show. Well, couldn't agree with this one though!

demon mother like this reminds me of my classmate's mother back in highschool. Classmate in 10th grade highschool, then in 11th grade, I heard she quit bc she met a guy and get married. Didn't think too much about it, just thought it weird bc I didn't know she ever had a boyfriend. she's a quiet but friendly girl, never had any problem.
years later I hungout with people from hc, one of them was neighbour with the girl, he kept the story throughout hs on the girl's request. turned out her mother wanted to borrow money from this widowed dude, mother thought she could borrow without had to pay it back if she "introduced" him with her daughter. plan worked, but this dude didn't want it temporary. even up the money in the proviso that he and the daughter married. and there went my 10th grade classmate.
the guy who told us the story think it's fair to tell it now bc the money lender dude and the mother already died by that time. the dude died first, natural causes. after that, she cut contacts with her mother, just left her dry for years until she died. the girl's in better place with better husband now.
