I just want to say…I started playing runescape in 2009. I was severely shamed for ‘wasting my time’ playing this game. However this game taught me Algebra, this game taught me what it meant to value things/ ideas in the real world. I am forever better for it.
I was gonna say - farming a new slayer monster is where I feel like these wildcards are useful. It's definitely more of a slayer xp rate buff than a profitable buff.
Not sure if it's a bug or not, but you can still get 50% more xp and the drop by removing the scrimshaw after u get the xp, as there is a small time gap between xp and item drops
I just used them during Double XP to get to 120 Slayer. Since they only use 1 for multi-kill monsters I was using them to kill a lot of Berserkers. One thing important to note for double xp live, scrimshaw's xp buff is disabled, found that out a couple weeks ago.
Its more for being able to purchase progress on the ultimate slayer log. Particularly for tasks which are low droprate off task (e.g. camels), low number tasks (e.g. wyverns where its only 40 kills for a single task), or task only drops.
Ive had 200m slayer for years so I always forget that these are so insane xp. For me the biggest QoL update was that I can camp camel warriors for the log without needing to spend slayer points forcing the camel tasks the old way. Im planning to do the wyverns the same way. And as for the ripper demons, the 150x demon group tasks from Laniakea are also nice for those, without the slayer cards as well
If going for ripper pet, better off using slayer master that gives lowest Ripper kills with Slayer Introspection, soon as you kill the elite Ripper cancel task or reset streak with Turial and repeat. 1/334 from elite and guaranteed 1 elite spawn a task.
yeah specially when we got 120 pre menaphos update, but given Jagex's track record with xp it was a given its a shame really. This is why valuing collection logs and achievements feels more fulfilling nowa days vs getting xp
So if your going for raptor armor, would using these cards count as being on task to kill the specific slayer creatures it requires to get the armor? Just wondering.
Don't get me wrong, game's fantastic. Jagex keeps adding these small and, to the surface, insignificant changes to make things easier. Over time they accumulate until you're left with a soulless game, filled with content but played by mindless cash cows as players. What's the point of keeping something alive if it has no soul? This will add new streams of players that allow them to keep it alive but the fundamental values of this game have long been forgotten. I'm fine with it though and hold no grudge. Things don't last. They die or transform.

I mean...this is fine - there's really nothing going on here like buying it at a faster rate, per se, than if you just did slayer. And this game obviously needs some money sinks, so if you wanna pay 50k+ to kill a single mob for slayer XP I think that's fair. There are some crazier rates for cheaper gp/xp across the board than this, right?
At current price only thing I can see them being worth is to try and get souls for codex on creature that requires tasks. Eddimu and steykewyrms. Not sure if they're others.
it might be worthwhile buying a few of these on a fresh account and safespotting the demons to skip a ton of slow early slayer levels, but unless the price drops considerably they will be niche
50m for a 99 is not bad tbh. A lot of really-weird-and-definitely-not-normal players hate training slayer for some reason, and 50m for a relatively quick 99 sounds like a steal. The cost for 120 is a bit ridiculous though, lol.

Just because someone spent gold to max their skill(s) does not mean your personal accomplishment is de-valued. If you did it w/o spending gold and or IRL money on bonds for gold, then be proud you did it the 'correct' way. Your accomplishment is only de-valued if you choose to think that.
Tbf people mainly play MMO to escape their shitty life where $$ =/=value . Those new mtx items just crush the soul of "RPG" out of the game and make it like real life where if you have money you can buy everything.
@protoxx 3:05 side note that abyssal lords also drop the flesh every kill while on task so you could add 12-15k gp per kill to that value which imo i why these things are so fucking high priced~ theyre basicly economically balancing out to be break even for a long run grind of PoD abyssal lords where the rich gamer can get 100% 24/7 slayer xp gains at BREAK EVEN or better pricing so its just a way to essentialy buy slayer by skipping the need to ever be on task. suuuuuuuuuuuuper cool item tho for the future if they ever release new monsters with on task stuff or perhaps necromancy monsters who knows lolllllllllllllll

I tried ripper demons once, with combat maxed, with basic abilities on auto because I've got absolutely no idea what I'm doing with abilities so I have one of the generic ones off the wiki. Anyway, like 2 seconds and I got my cheeks clapped before I even knew what was happening lmao

There's been a question floating around the clan I'm in currently. How do these cards work with the drop rate of hm kerapac? Kerapac counts as a nodon slayer task I believe. Would these cards mess with the drop rate of staff pieces?

Slayer was always a buyable once you could buy spins. I got 99slayer and 99 summoning for $100 of spins. Untrim slayer cape . On a fresh account just cuz I was bored lol. Also afriend proved rs3 was a p2win game when he went from 1 to maxed in 3 hours lol. From buying spins.
The definition in my eyes of a buyable (before mtx existed) was and still is a skill that you can speed up using GP by a large percentage. This item allows you to bypass the core element of slayer (getting tasks) by spending gp, making it faster and therefor is a buyable. Sure everything is buyable with mtx but that involves spending thousands of USD.
Every god damn skill in RS3 is going to be a buyable now and that's why I quit the fucking game. In a couple years no one is going to go out and train skills and majority of people will buy gold and max everything essentially pay2win.

Maybe, but that's with the scrimshaw active. Without it and just 592 cards you'd get up to 8.7m when using them on the monsters he mentioned, that's already a ridiculous amount of XP

I used these on dxp to get from 117 to 120 on Abyssal Lords. Not a huge fan of slayer so this was well worth it to me.
Slayer was my first 99 and first true accomplishment. This hurts to see. We slayers work pretty hard.

e.g : to kill 100 mob used 100 wildcard.

I found out if u get a task and then do same task right after with wildcards. It will give yu better change. At a drop sicne u be staying there

The only change with kerapac's drop rate comes from LOTD and the pontifex ring upgraded.
1-120 slayer for 400m is a steal, shame I already got 120, but maybe I'll do this for my alt

so durning dxp i gave my friend a bunch of these and we did nm kerapac which was less then a min per kill and more xp
that's during DOUBLE XP LOL this is not doubled, so this would of course be much better with DXP vs NM Kerapac on DXP. Just* saying.

592 cards seems extremely low for 99 slayer....
Maybe, but that's with the scrimshaw active. Without it and just 592 cards you'd get up to 8.7m when using them on the monsters he mentioned, that's already a ridiculous amount of XP
It's exactly how many you need if you camp greater demon berserkers for 99 using scrimshaws of sacrifice
