Good video. You can slide the lower portion of the center console back, dont forget 2 front tabs. It slides back exposing the screws closest the shifter area. Then you can remove waterfall.

Thank you this video saved me. I figured out how to get to the screws. You need to loosen the entire console and slide it back. There is rear section that comes out with 3- 8mm screws under the cup holder. There are two under a hidden door in the glove box and two more all the forward behind the waterfall. One clip of the console under the waterfall needs to be released when you pull back. Then you’ll have the access needed to easily get those screws. The rear seat will require protection and manipulation. I couldn’t have done it without your great instruction. Thanks again! Lot of work for a simple part.

This video shows how to slide the console backwards, to access the lower waterfall screws. ruclips.net/video/31CadVwcmiM/видео.html Though I question his use of the pick for taking plastic parts apart; I'm surprised he hasn't got a bunch of scratches! And you don't have to take the glove box/cup holder/roll top assembly out to accomplish this; this step in Andrew's video is unnecessary. Though I did to clean mine, and lubricate the roll top with silicone spray.

Thanks Andrew! Worked great for an 08 C30. You should add C30 to the title as well so more C30 owners can find this video.

Dude, this video probably saved me a few hours of time and frustration. Just completed the job on my ‘08 C30 and am shifting manually once again. Thank you so much!

Thanks for this video, it was quite helpful.
When I did this I was stumped at first as the console would not move back for me. Then I realized it had no place to go as there was no room due to the rear seat. So I had to remove the rear part of the console, where the drink holders are and that freed enough rook for the front part of the console to move. From that point on it was pretty easy.

So on my 2011 C70 Convertible it seems things might be a bit different.
I think an easier way to disassemble is to follow the OP's steps to remove the panel behind the waterfall, then the radio head unit and waterfall screws behind that. While at it, remove the screws at the front of the center console and the storage bin located behind the waterfall. Lever up the center console top trim being careful to wedge the spudger under the BLACK part not just under the brushed metal top layer. Disconnect the retractable roof plug and cigarette lighter socket. Don't worry at all about those two screws you see that hold the shifter end of the waterfall in place. Lever out the side piece that shrouds the brake handle, then the two screws hidden under the center console storage bin.
Moving back, pop loose the rear console's top frame, pull out the cup holders and remove the three 8mm bolts below it to free the rear, and thus the full console from the floor. The rear seat must be lifted up to provide clearance. NOTE that at this point we haven't touched the two problem screws located at the shifter end of the waterfall. Reaching all the way forward again, pull up the plastic tab located under the front storage bin so it can pass over the metal frame, and then pull the entire center console back about and inch and a half! NOW you see the screws that the OP had trouble with removing and replacing are fully exposed for easy, straight forward removal! That rearward shift also makes it EASY to rotate the waterfall up and back with the extended rear tangs rotating out from under the center console.
But before you do that, the shifter knob must come off. Release the shifter by reaching through the tiny access window with the #20 Torx driver and press the lever inside toward the front and the shifter magically releases - pull it all the way back and into the side gate. Rotate the ring underneath and use a spudger to wedge it down until the four petaled shift knob sleeve is exposed, then use a small pick to sequentially lift each petal while "power twisting and lifting" the shift knob until it comes free. Pull off the locking ring.
NOW is when the waterfall can be lifted up at the front and rotated up and back to get the back flanges out - remember to unplug the green plug in it's backside.
I wonder if the reason so many shift blinds begin to shatter into pieces is due to the use of petroleum based grease such as I found under mine. Petroleum based lubricants can act as a solvent to certain plastics, so I used a silicone spray on the replacement blind. That area doesn't really need any lubricant - it's not like the shifter is being racked back and forth during normal driving, or any kind of driving. In the side gate the shifter only moves a tiny amount and not enough to create any sort of heat buildup. The breakdown can't be heat related, because it it was that intricate circuit board would also be toast!.
During reassembly the screws that hold the shift end of the waterfall are inserted before the console is pushed back forward where the little plastic tab will click back under the metal subframe and the two center storage box screws go in, followed by the three rear console bolts, then the top trim snaps back on and the two screws reinserted at the top of the center storage compartment.

Video is a pretty good start to the procedure. However, your recommendation on the lower screws of the vertical panel is kinda destructive to the plastic. To prevent bending and breaking plastic while getting to those 2 lower screws... all you need to do is remove 4 screws holding the entire console... 2 on the front-end (up high where the console mates with the dash) and 2 on rear-end of console (under the small cover in the bottom of your storage bin "where your cell cables are stored")... then there's a plastic tab on the front/ horizontal area of the console that needs to be lifted slightly, so one can slide the whole console to the rear about 2 inches. This will expose the 2 screws you were having difficulty removing and replacing ("without hemostats ?"). A very easy procedure. Hope this comment helps somebody avoid a great deal of frustration and damage to plastic. Take great care when "manipulating any plastic".... old plastic breaks easily!! Do the work like your a surgeon... do not cut the wrong vessel or you may be buying more parts...haha !

Thanks for the info. You are right, you have to be real careful on plastic. I was able to do mine with out scratching.

Magnet polarity makes a difference. 2009 C30. I bought a blind, but once fitted the manual gear selection did not show. I removed it, put the original magnet slider in the new blind and it worked. The original slider was marked POM3, the new one POM2. if you put the faces of the two sliders togther, they attract, if they were both the same polarity they would repel.

I know where you made your mistake. At the back of the floating console if you take out the tray and look in there is a small tab that you have to lift upwards. Then push the console back at the same time. The tab is acting like a spring which holds the console in place. Don't forget to take out the 2 screw in the bottom at the back of the console. That was your only mistake great job 👍🏿

I very much benefited from this video, thanks. I replaced my blind after vacuuming up all the remnants of the old one, put it all back together, and manual mode still doesn’t work. Is there a fuse that may be blown? I was meticulous so I know all connectors were reattached...

Hello Andrew i need some help, 2009 c30, same shifter and console setup. I cannot get my car to change gears while the battery is unplugged, then the car does not fully shut down when it is in neutral. Thus, i cannot get my shifter off. All removal went smooth from your instructions, until i ran into this problem. Any tips would be appreciated.

So, it is important to disconnect your battery before all of this, correct?

Yes. If you don’t, cars computer may interpret as an issue. This can trigger a warning code that the dealership will have to reset. My dealer charges $140/hr for computer link time.
