I like this style of video. It's like you are just making the drawer with me watching at the side. It's casual and not in a stressful rush. Thanks for taking the time to make the video : )
Nick, when my four kids were growing up my favorite saying was if you can't do the small or simple things right how are you going to do the big things right. So what you were saying about people questioning being fussy with shop furniture it might help one from cutting corners on regular furniture. People might be impressed when you take the time to make not so important furniture look good and know you will do your best on something your making for them. Hope that makes sense. That is what I try to do. Love your work. Bob
Nick, Like seeing it as it happens. Helps us understand how you make the minor adjustments that come up during the process of making an idea a reality. Thanks for sharing your talents.
I am going to be making a jewelry box for my wife and this looks like a great idea for doing the drawers. I'm thinking of doing before I put the back on so I can glue easier. Don't won't those to get stuck! Thanks for the great videos.
Great instructional, Nick. Definitely a different format for you, but I like it. Informal but still lots of good tips, it's like we were hanging out in the shop building it together.
I can't say enough about your style of video. Very much the every day garage workshop guy, just with a lot of knowledge. I also like that you aren't anal retentive about "proper drawer construction" when making a simple light-duty drawer. Good stuff!
thanks Scott - I got a fair amount of crap for this drawer and like you said it's just a light duty drawer - I can get pretty particular about some things but this is a nice quick way to make a drawer and doesn't need to be over-built
hey Nick that drawer turned out nice. perfectly acceptable for light duty. and I agree with green Kitty that style of narration does feel more on a personal level.
thanks - I thought it was a bit long too but hadn't really done this before and there was not much I could edit out - I really appreciate the feedback!!
Thanks Nick This is absolutely my preferred style of presentation. Often these videos can be more of a "show and tell", I prefer more of an instructional style. I prefer to learn than to just view eye candy. Thanks for taking the time to produce the topic.
I've enjoyed your shop fixtures for their simplicity but yet clean and attractive look. I'm thinking of going for the same look and construction in a cabin I'm upgrading. Don't want marble, granite, oak but something clean and pleasing. Good job and the "talking to the camera" (i.e., viewer) was easy to follow and informative, even "the wrong viscosity CA". Looking forward to many more videos! Mr B1LL
I like this style video. For me personally, it made me realize why some of my projects seem to take forever, you had a more efficient way of fitting and overall execution. Keep it up, good stuff.
I was totally waiting for you to stick a business card between the sides to hold them in place while you glued the front.... I think i saw my grandfather do that one time. Great video by the way!
I like this format and the project videos. I also appreciate the title so that if I'm not in the mood for a shop-visit video I can always come back to it later. Keep up the great work and thanks for the ideas.
very cool - glad to hear you picked up on the title - thought about how to differentiate from the other videos for a while and arrived at this - thanks!
Well done Nick, I liked the quick and dirty light duty draw concept, ideal for those sort of projects. I also agree wholeheartedly on you views about shop furniture, as far as I'm concerned, it still has to look good, weather your making videos or not. Well done.
Nick when will you build some more overhead and/or lower cabinets? Love the look and you fit/finish is always spot on. Still want to see you shop flow.
I watched this video a couple of times and made it this afternoon. Next, I'm going to make the drawer the same way you did. I can't wait to see how you're going to store the HF Storage Containers.
a nicely done video of a good project I have been inspired I think I will make something like it to sort out & store my shop drill bits and marking tools so thanks a lot Nick
I liked this Nick.... most builds you see are way overdone including ones I do! Now we just need to jet Matthias to test it to see the details on what it will really hold... I think we may be surprised !!! Keep up the good work...
Nick Ferry it was a blast! Thanks for coming out, hope you make it back out next year!! Maybe bring Jay and April out with ya next time Haha!! Seriously though, it was a great time and glad I was able to meet ya!
Nick Ferry I learned the lesson from a friend who built custom homes. I asked him to build a couple temporary walls in a leased building for a Boy Scout summer camp. The building owner called me in a panic to remind me the walls were only suppose to be temporary and what was being built was better than the original construction. I called my buddy who explained his crews always build walls to the same, high, standard. That way there is never an excuse for shoddy work.
Hey Nick, Great shop project. One suggestion, drill a 3/8" or so size hole in the back center, top of drawer to assist in opening and closing the drawer without an air pocket.
Interested to see how the 6mm mdf holds up. I had to use 9mm for anything over 300mm wide or it would sag too much. love the format Nick, keep up the great work man!
Nice I like how easy it was to make and for light weight items it would be so March faster for me to make when I am finally at that point in my own workshop after we have finished Dads workshop and with all of the cable ties that he has this would be a good start to learning how you made the draws 😹😹
I enjoyed watching your thought process in this one. I think this format can only be used on very simple projects though or the length will be too long.
i like that box idea, im not sure what its main feature is going to be in your shop but i was thinking it would be a good idea for lathe tool holder and accessories (obviously thicker material hahaha).......i enjoyed the one on one style of video tho......great job Nick and congrats on hitting 100k Subs :)
Very cool. Just got started with CA glue, is that enough to hold that together? I know you'd said you weren't going to put anything heavy in there, but would adding a few brads, narrow crown staples, or pin nails add anything?
i liked the format nick. as long as you can keep things rolling it will work. ya couldda put the drawer pull on first saving that painters tape lol. i over engineer everything so im not a fan of this build. but if it works what the heck. keep em coming.
I am in the process of planning wood cubes, (drawer wannabe boxes) to use in a cube storage shelf. Do you have any ideas in your expertise a as far as fitting the box to the cube etc. I won’t the putting anything heavy in them. I was going to make them smaller in size so that they slide easier. If you think that won’t be a good idea let me know.please advise. I’m gong to make All 18:, for the 2, 3 by 3 units. The shelves are under a large table top, facing each other, the table is used for sewing , it’s a cutting table, so access is limited and it would be nice if they are easy to pull open. Thanks for sharing and fir any insight!
Hi Nick I have missed your build video and was glad to get a new one. I have noticed that you are thinking much about how long your video is, but I do not think you should do that, as long as it's interesting then people will watch them. Jay has to talk about the same and is stop thinking so much over time. I do not hope that you will be mad about I say it, I say this only because I really like what you're doing for it has given me a so much.
no worries, I appreciate it - Jay and I have talked about the length of videos before - I don't really mind if they are longer but to put all this in one video would have made it over 30 minutes and this could apply to many other instances so I thought it deserved to be a stand-alone video - I make them as long as they need to be for me to be convinced I can convey what I want to convey - I stopped trying to edit to a time length at around my 10th video or so, heck my 4th video was 16 minutes
It's holding up great - I showed it briefly in my latest shop tour video - I'd imagine it would hold up to a couple drops but I wouldn't want to be throwing it down a ton
Hi Nick, I like the format. Not as much as your others. I see you use the CA glue all the time and I think you could do a whole video on the use of CA glue. The goods and bads, when to use, how long, and etc. Thanks for your great work.
great video. I've been trying to think of a way to do some small screw/bolt bins kinda like you'd find in a milwaukee organizer but don't have the skill for finger joints just yet. this seems like something I could try. thanks for the inspiration! keep up the great work!
I enjoyed this, but that's a fairly deep drawer to hold together with just CA. If you're disciplined to only keep sandpaper or the zip ties you mentioned, it will probably be fine, but the temptation might be to put tools in there, or other heavy items. It's not just the bottom, but also pulling the front off or delaminating the MDF at the glue joint. Probably still better than the chipboard stuff you buy in the stores, though. :)
good input - it already has glued in dividers that will only allow electrical tape and mounts - I'd even trust some heavier tools in there - made quite a few of these and they hold surprisingly well
Hi! Two questions: 1) why do you use WD40 while gluing? 2) how long normally these kinds of connections can function? (I mean this very type of glue and material you've used). Sorry for my English 'cause my native one's Russian.
it's not WD-40, it's activator for CA glue - see more here - nickferry.com/my-tools-equipment/ - the connections should be solid for longer than I'm around to see them fail
"OK CLOSE THE DOOR, I'LL BE INSIDE IN A MINUTE" LOL aka get outta my man cave where I make shit!!! You, April, and Jay and now Carl with wood turning are my absolute favorites. Not sure how far away from each other you all are but more of the 3 best friends videos making shit. :-)

much appreciated - I hadn't thought about it like that, thanks
Green Kitty...well put. That is exactly how I felt. Nick is good at that
Chuck Hart thanks man!
Nick Ferry
Alan Jolly yes?
I dig it! It's good to keep in mind what things are being built for so you don't waste time and money over building. I really enjoy your approach.
much appreciated dude!
I like watching makers deal with problems and fix issues, in fact watching the process instead of just the how to steps. Nice video
Thanks 👊🏼
Personally, I like this style video. Gave me some ideas for my own shop drawers I am building. Thanks.
thank as always Jim, I appreciated the feedback!

Thanks Bob - that is very well put - and I agree 100% of course!
Nick, Like seeing it as it happens. Helps us understand how you make the minor adjustments that come up during the process of making an idea a reality. Thanks for sharing your talents.
Awesome, that's what I was hoping for - glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Great instructional, Nick. Definitely a different format for you, but I like it. Informal but still lots of good tips, it's like we were hanging out in the shop building it together.
thanks Braxton - and you'd know what that feels like being I just spent a week at your shop!
It's was a great way to showcase your thought process and how you just talked us through it. Great job nick keep it up!!
awesome sauce - I appreciate the feedback!
I can't say enough about your style of video. Very much the every day garage workshop guy, just with a lot of knowledge. I also like that you aren't anal retentive about "proper drawer construction" when making a simple light-duty drawer. Good stuff!

hey Nick that drawer turned out nice. perfectly acceptable for light duty. and I agree with green Kitty that style of narration does feel more on a personal level.
very cool - thanks - I was wondering if people would like this style or not really - it was a lot of fun to make this way!
glad to see that I am not the only one that takes many tries for things to fit
Definitely not the only one
Great video bud I liked this format. A tad long but could just be because I'm tired. That ca glue is a life saver.
thanks - I thought it was a bit long too but hadn't really done this before and there was not much I could edit out - I really appreciate the feedback!!
Thanks Nick
This is absolutely my preferred style of presentation. Often these videos can be more of a "show and tell", I prefer more of an instructional style. I prefer to learn than to just view eye candy.
Thanks for taking the time to produce the topic.
awesome to hear - I prefer making this style I think - it'd be fun to do once and a while I suppose
Liked the build & the new format of you "hangin' out & talking" through it. Nice.
thanks much Rag Tie!
Definitely room for both styles of video. I think the intent/objective of the video should drive be they style. This worked for me.
thanks for the input Jeff, I appreciate the comment!
I've enjoyed your shop fixtures for their simplicity but yet clean and attractive look. I'm thinking of going for the same look and construction in a cabin I'm upgrading. I appreciate it Mr. Bill!
Love it brother not at all unconventional only someone without a shop would think that
thanks man!
I like this style video. For me personally, it made me realize why some of my projects seem to take forever, you had a more efficient way of fitting and overall execution. Keep it up, good stuff.
very cool, thanks for the comment - it was a different style for sure
I was totally waiting for you to stick a business card between the sides to hold them in place while you glued the front.... I think i saw my grandfather do that one time. Great video by the way!
playing cards and dimes work well too - now that you mentioned it, I'm surprised I didn't!
nice work Nick! I'm fully with you Nick! your shop is your happy place so if it looks nice that helps.
shop feng shui I'll call it - thanks man!!
We don't usually get to see your problem solving process, I like this format.
thanks for the input - I like being able to share the small stuff this way
Soo many "Thats what she said" jokes could have been made. Nice quick simple design and process to boot!
haha - I noticed that too - at least 3 good ones anyway
Watched the whole thing.... Sometimes talking and working is great !!! You were teaching a new technique.
Well Done.
thank you, I appreciate it!
Nice job Nick. Not as simple as you made it out to be but quick, simple, and fun
I hear that - but fairly simple overall is what I was going for - thanks for the feedback!
Well done Nick, I liked the quick and dirty light duty draw concept, ideal for those sort of projects. I also agree wholeheartedly on you views about shop furniture, as far as I'm concerned, it still has to look good, weather your making videos or not. Well done.
glad to hear I'm not alone!
Nick when will you build some more overhead and/or lower cabinets? Love the look and you fit/finish is always spot on. Still want to see you shop flow.
not sure - that's a good question - been thinking about doing a shop tour at some point but right now it'd just be a big pile of cardboard
I like this style of video. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing.
thanks for saying so - I really appreciate that!
I watched this video a couple of times and made it this afternoon. Next, I'm going to make the drawer the same way you did. I can't wait to see how you're going to store the HF Storage Containers.
You and I both - that container organizer has been the number one project I want to get back to - something always seems to pop up though
I like seeing something that's a little different. Good video.
I appreciate that Owen!
a nicely done video of a good project I have been inspired I think I will make something like it to sort out & store my shop drill bits and marking tools so thanks a lot Nick
perfect, let me know how it goes!
I liked this Nick.... most builds you see are way overdone including ones I do! Now we just need to jet Matthias to test it to see the details on what it will really hold... I think we may be surprised !!! Keep up the good work...
much appreciated dude!
Great way to make a tight fitting drawer! Awesome job!
thanks buddy - and thanks for the laughs last weekend - was a blast hanging out!
Nick Ferry it was a blast! Thanks for coming out, hope you make it back out next year!! Maybe bring Jay and April out with ya next time Haha!! Seriously though, it was a great time and glad I was able to meet ya!
I liked the presentation. I have the same thought about shop projects. They are rehearsals for projects that require higher levels of craftsmanship.
I'm glad someone else gets it - keeps the hands and mind crisp
Nick Ferry I learned the lesson from a friend who built custom homes. I asked him to build a couple temporary walls in a leased building for a Boy Scout summer camp. The building owner called me in a panic to remind me the walls were only suppose to be temporary and what was being built was better than the original construction. I called my buddy who explained his crews always build walls to the same, high, standard. That way there is never an excuse for shoddy work.
Thank you for going into detail and talking us through the whole process it really helps us beginners!
I really glad to hear you liked it - I liked breaking it done into digestible steps - thanks for the comment!!
Brilliant - such an easy drawer build - as long as the measurements are exact..lol. 👍👍
Yes, this was definitely an odd way to do it but it’s holding up well so it did the job
Hey Nick,
Great shop project. One suggestion, drill a 3/8" or so size hole in the back center, top of drawer to assist in opening and closing the drawer without an air pocket.
Thanks, not a bad idea!
Liked the video and the way you built the drawer, good tips
always appreciated buddy!
I never thought that mdf was good to make draws but for a light weight draw it looks great!
thanks man - yeah it works pretty slick for light duty stuff
I liked it Nick--great to see more of this style.
awesome, thanks for the feedback - hope to do more like these
Hi Nick
I like your work in this video very much.
thanks, I appreciate you saying so!
Nick
I was talking not just about this video but I'm happy to see your video in the future.
Have it good and have fun
Norup
Thanks much!
Great down-and-dirty build tip! I like it!! Thanks, Nick!
thanks for checking it out!
I like being able to watch the whole process. Thanks!
awesome, thanks Todd!
Interested to see how the 6mm mdf holds up. I had to use 9mm for anything over 300mm wide or it would sag too much. love the format Nick, keep up the great work man!
thanks - it will hold up and I'm sure I will revisit it in the future
Nicely made video and some great ideas.
I have a little box making project to work on later in the month so, time to stock up on CA and MDF...
awesome, let me know what you make!
Nick Ferry Will do!
Nice I like how easy it was to make and for light weight items it would be so March faster for me to make when I am finally at that point in my own workshop after we have finished Dads workshop and with all of the cable ties that he has this would be a good start to learning how you made the draws 😹😹
thanks much - cool to hear you have your own shop up and coming!
Nick Ferry thanks Nick 😹
Turned out good. I like the format. It's good to mix it up.
thanks!
I liked how you talked thru this one Nick. And I agree, I also love to use my shop "furniture" as a learning opportunity! - Rod
thanks much Rod!
Great little vid. It would be nice to see the finished product with all the stuff in it though. Thanks for your time.
thanks - you will see it in the full video for the holder - this was just about the drawer construction
Did I miss that or is it still in the works?
smoleyhokes still in the works
Never think of using mdf for drawers, liked the video, happy holidays
thanks Dave - it works out pretty well - Merry Christmas
I enjoyed watching your thought process in this one. I think this format can only be used on very simple projects though or the length will be too long.
thanks, I agree - when I was editing the main video this would have been way too lengthy to put in that video - glad you liked it!
Keep up the good work, always enjoy your videos
thanks much!
Very cool style, Nick. I enjoyed it as well. Informative, relaxed. Thanks so much. Troy
thanks for giving the feedback Troy!!
i like that box idea, im not sure what its main feature is going to be in your shop but i was thinking it would be a good idea for lathe tool holder and accessories (obviously thicker material hahaha).......i enjoyed the one on one style of video tho......great job Nick and congrats on hitting 100k Subs :)
thank buddy, it's pretty surreal - the drawer is going to hold electrical tape mostly and the top is for zip ties
Nick Ferry ahhh gotcha, nice idea..... onto 200k+ now bud :)
Very cool. Just got started with CA glue, is that enough to hold that together? I know you'd said you weren't going to put anything heavy in there, but would adding a few brads, narrow crown staples, or pin nails add anything?
I like this style of video, i like to hear whats going on and why. Good job!
Much appreciated Ron - I was hoping some people would enjoy it!
There are too many fast forwards and no talkers out there. You got it right! Give us more Nick.
I like the walk through video. Can you suggest link for the gluing method you used?
This video pretty much sums it up
Great video! Loved it! You are a master and great teacher... thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks much
like seeing a different approach. different technology. MORE VIDEOS please
thanks John!!!
👍
I like the walk through and cool to hear your thought process.
thanks Mark - it's a fun change of pace
i liked the format nick. as long as you can keep things rolling it will work. ya couldda put the drawer pull on first saving that painters tape lol. i over engineer everything so im not a fan of this build. but if it works what the heck. keep em coming.
thanks for the input - I often over build things too so this is a good way for me to mix it up
I really like this style video and you did a great job talking us through the process. Thanks for making this video. Now, I'm going to go make one.
Hi Nick.
I like this type of video.
It's cool to see the uncut stuff and how you solve different problems.
Greetings from Denmark 😉
glad you liked it, thanks!
Worked for Nick. Great name btw :D For me if your talking on youtube with woodworking i'll listen, even if i know already and continue watching.
Nick,
thanks, good to know
-Nick
lol
I enjoyed the format, good work Nick!
much appreciated feedback Adrian!
Liked how you sped up your walk around the shop, zoom zoom.
haha, thanks - that took out over 3 minutes - so I was happy to do it!
Cool technique! Can't wait to see that new Laguna in a video though.
me too - just cut out a bowl blank with it on instagram
Brilliant! Thank you for this. It'll make my drawer building so much easier.
Glad you could get some ideas
👌🏾Tnx Nick, great tutorial 😀
The pleasure is all mine
Great video Nick - keep 'em coming!
thanks Dennis!
Nice, glad you didn't fast forward through it, I enjoyed seeing your process 🤓👍🏼
awesome, glad you dug it!
Cool process, this reminds me of this last weekend.
hanging around and listening to me talk - sounds about right, lol - thanks buddy!
Nice drawer Nick!
thanks much buddy!
Hiya, loved it from start to finish. Very informative, nice easy style, 10/10.
thanks Steve, I appreciate it!
I like it. How is it holding up? Would it break if you dropped the drawer?
It's holding up great - I showed it briefly in my latest shop tour video - I'd imagine it would hold up to a couple drops but I wouldn't want to be throwing it down a ton
This thinking and working out loud type of video suites me well. Recently subscribed. Enjoy your style.
awesome, much appreciated!
Hi Nick, I like the format. Not as much as your others. I see you use the CA glue all the time and I think you could do a whole video on the use of CA glue. The goods and bads, when to use, how long, and etc. Thanks for your great work.
thanks for the feedback - been wanting to do a few videos like that for a while - hope to get to them at some point
Interesting technique, thanks for showing the detail.
thanks - glad you liked it Ben!
Enjoyed it- keep em coming!
thanks Tim!
Ya Nick I liked the style of video, nice walk through!
thanks - was worried most would hate it but I liked doing it so much that I had to share it
great video. I've been trying to think of a way to do some small screw/bolt bins kinda like you'd find in a milwaukee organizer but don't have the skill for finger joints just yet. this seems like something I could try. thanks for the inspiration! keep up the great work!
very cool - thanks!
Good job Nick
much appreciated AP!
I like it, very well done.
thank you kindly!
good input - it already has glued in dividers that will only allow electrical tape and mounts - I'd even trust some heavier tools in there - made quite a few of these and they hold surprisingly well
Cool, thanks Nick. The dividers should help strengthen it as well, if they're glued to the sides/front/bottom.
Regardless, you asked if the video was worth doing, and I say it was. :)
Sweet easy quick awesome tips going to use this method. And really enjoy the video format came out great 👍.
thanks man - I appreciate you saying so!
Good presentation.. more please!
I appreciate you saying so
Great video. Keep up good work.
thanks much Jim!
Nice method and good video.
thanks much buddy!
Really liked it. I wish you’d make more like this
Thanks - I'm guessing you mean this kind of format?
Short and just cool
Awesome thanks!
Love it, Nick!
thanks Mike!
Thanks a lot, Nick. It's very handy! But I guess this chemical could hardly be found on our local market.
This is really good Thanks
:)
Love the play by play
Thanks Dave 👍🏼
Hey Nick, good one. The talk helps to explain the reason why and the how to. Just don't sing!
hahaha - thanks, I'll keep the singing to a minimum, lol!
exactly - I normally edit around the kids coming in about every 15 minutes or so - and hopefully we can all get together and do some more videos!
Nick Ferry nah man, it's funny. I'm a father to 3 girls ages 9,6,4 I totally understand. cheers
:)
That works..Thanks for sharing.
much appreciated buddy!
