      I had planned on doing that to a K7 I just picked up on ebay for £600. Though my trem has the palm bar. Any tips on keeping tuning stability?

    • @kevinstarofficial
      @kevinstarofficial  2 года назад +1

      @@davekbz yeah, just block the trem and unscrew the locking nut screws and that string bar near the locking nut to remove friction. thats it,. it will hold tuning better than any other guitar not equipped with evertune.

    There were 2 on Reverb recently for like $1,200 or something like that. Did you grab one of those? How do the K7's compare to the Apex100? My dream 7 string is the blue K7, I love it so much. How much better are the K7's compared to an MIJ RG. I've noticed that even though mine is a hardtail it still doesn't stay in tune that well and the setup really isn't where I'd like it to be even after taking it to a luthier to have it setup. What string gauge do you use on your 7 strings? I use 10-62 and I think I may even go up to 11-64 or something but I think I would have to modify the nut for that. I'd love to see a cover of It's On now that you have the small stone, or what I assume to be the small stone. Is it one of the newer ones or a vintage one? I would assume they sound basically the same so it shouldn't really matter which one you have I imagine. Your rate seems a bit too fast or is that how they actually set theirs? Regardless, an awesome video as always and I can't wait for more!

    • @kevinstarofficial
      @kevinstarofficial  3 года назад

      i use a new small stone. the rate is super sensitive. even korn use duct tape on the knob live to stay put in place and they dont always nail the rate haha. 1200 for a k7 is an amazing price. no brainer. i love the apex 100 better though and at the end of the day i only play the apex100. for me it is the most confortable guitar to play. i like it over all the other 7strings i tried including the original white universe. i feel that the neck is superior in confort and the guitar just plays itself, i managed to do a killer setup on it. so in my experience it is like 20-30 % better than any other k7, apex or universe i've tried. i use 10-65 dunlop strings on it. it is an 8 string set that i use actually. now... k7 vs other mij guitars. i liked my rg7620 better than the k7 i guess, and i also liked the plyability of the rg1527 over the k7 to be honest. i would go with those over the k7 as playability and neck confort. the k7 looks cooler though. the neck is still good enough but it is a hair chunkier that i would like it. that's why if i were to start over i would pick the other two.

  • @OmgItsSpruce
    @OmgItsSpruce 3 года назад

    What small stone settings do they use for each song if you can remember? Do you sell these guitars after keeping them for a bit or do you keep all of them but only play the Apex 100?

    • @OmgItsSpruce
      @OmgItsSpruce 3 года назад

      Another thing, how does your single rectifier compare to your rackmount revision g dual? Are your settings still the same? Bass at 6, mids at 4, treble at 6 or 7, and gain at 6?

    • @kevinstarofficial
      @kevinstarofficial  3 года назад

      Well it is a pretty simple pedal with few knobs. I set it by ear, it's pretty simple to do that. Yeah so far I usually keep them for some months and then i sell them. Now I only have the Apex

    • @kevinstarofficial
      @kevinstarofficial  3 года назад

      @@OmgItsSpruce the settings differ in that i need to keep the channel volume and output volume way lower on the single rectifier (below 9 o'clock) since it has lower headroom. after that it starts to add too much mids. other than that, the amp sounds the same but on a lower level since it's just a 50w. for me the single it's the best since it's lighter and i dont need huge power

    • @kevinstarofficial
      @kevinstarofficial  3 года назад

      all rectos sound pretty much the same. revision differ in clean sound and i dont care too much about that. the modern gain channel sounds pretty much identical regardless of revision. even the slightest differences can be eliminated by settings. i only have the single recto now and i'm cool with it. lightweight enough for me to not give me any headaches.

    Bought mine 2 years ago for 800 Euro on ebay. Mine is actually in a better condition than yours. Your string gurad is missing (or not installed) and the floyd seems to sit to deep in the body. And no - the Ibanez universe sold way better than the k7. The k7 was only produced for two or three years. Even korn didn´t play it that much. it only appears on the untouchables album.

    • @kevinstarofficial
      @kevinstarofficial  3 года назад +1

      cool that you have a cleaner one! it was produced between 2001-2006 (including 2006). it was also head's only guitar he played starting 2001 up until he left in 2005

    • @FPVCustomsDE
      @FPVCustomsDE 3 года назад

      @@kevinstarofficial Even Head barley played it. Look at some live shows from 2004. Munky was playing the prototype of the apex and Head - what looks like - an standard RG7. The K7 never was used by Korn that much.
      Anyway - enjoy your guitar :)

    • @kevinstarofficial
      @kevinstarofficial  3 года назад +1

      @@FPVCustomsDE i have a huge archive of korn shows from the kornspace days. from 2001 onward head mainly used k7s for about 85 % of the shows. he played lacs rgs and lots of rg7620 and 7420 but between 1999 and 2001 period indeed

    • @УшлыйДруг
      @УшлыйДруг 3 года назад

      @@kevinstarofficial I've seen Head use the K-7 many times too.
      I think they stopped releasing it because this model was marketed as for two Korn guitarists.
      And every guitarist is interested in releasing his own personalized model, for 100% of the proceeds. As in other matters, they did then.
      In general, this is the best and most charismatic guitar of all. It is capricious and you just need to tune it for yourself and then it will sound 100%.
      By the way, all these new APEX30 pales before the K-7.
      It's like the APEX30 is a wv golf electric sucker and the K-7 is a good old muscle car.

      @@FPVCustomsDE what in the world are you talking about dude. Munky and Head used the K7 on the entire Take a Look In the Mirror album, which came after untouchables. So you couldnt be more wrong. I mean for christ sake just watch their music video for Y'all Want A Single. Also watch Korn Live At Montreux 2004 on RUclips.
