- Nothing crazy or exciting in this video, just a quick playdate.
Thought i would upload this one while i edit and try and quickly finish the last two.
I was supposed to be on the farm by now but got swamped with work so will leave early christmas morning, so will be back to uploads in a fortnight (no service on the property)

Appa my pup came along to meet Rhea my friends swiss shepherd, they got along really well and played like crazy haha
At the beginning of the video you would have seen alot of growth and grass on the aviary floor, this is because of all the sprouted mix pabu and the others throw out of the bowl.
All the rain has made a lush green flooring which the birds actually love, especially the piggies 😂

*mowgli (skeletal malformation), Bell (skeletal malformation), pascal (poor eyesight) & baby green quaker (hatched with one eye) all have disabilities, however bell is the most mobile and is capable of flight, he actually does better in the air then on the ground. Its great to see even birds with special needs can live fulfilling lives*
Remember to never attempt free flight, im receiving far too many emails of people doing the “monkey see, monkey do” our birds are specifically free flight trained, drastically different to pet indoor parrots. This is why i have disclaimers on every video so please read info on website in regard to free flight, too many birds are being lost to irresponsibility and impatience :(

On a lighter note! Its christmas tomorrow!!! I hope everyone is with their families & friends, if neither then feeling the spirit and giving out the love :) Oh and Pabu was in the start of video but refused to come out, so he stayed behind.
Its so important to understand and respect your free flight birds wishes, taking them out against their will rarely works out for the best. So for the people that think they are collector cards that we can just cart around willy nilly erghhh wrong :p these little poo heads are smart complex little individuals ☺️
Dory went on a epic adventure yesterday!! That will be the last video i upload, she flew off the side of a mountain like a badass and made all the asian tourists go camera snap happy 😂🙌

We had thee most boring Quaker...it was happy...but had zero personality. We got a conure at the same time, and it was the exact same- negative personality.

The house. He seems to lose his crap every 3 weeks and bites me on the fold of my arm- HARD...in attack mode.
I can’t seem to break him of it because he doesn’t give me any warning.
So weird this little guy is.
He came from a busy home, and it took some time to settle him down...but boy is he a happy little bird.

I'm very glad that someone was able to 'rescue' and care for their friends hatched with birth defects.
Question though: This is a possible comparison with North America, are the defects being caused by environmental degradation? Or are they heredity induced? Rachel Carson [her wild- and waterfowl sanctuary is only an hour away] fought against pollution in North America, due to the birth defects and non-viable conditions brought on by pesticides and other pollutants. I had not heard that Australia was having similar problems, but seeing Mowgli's and the others' conditions cause me to wonder.
Lar In Vermont that was some intelligent questioning and I live in Connecticut on a small lake what and have also wonder if perhaps all the pesticides in lawn care have caused many problems with birds especially the robins!!!!
Lar In Vermont great question. Mowgli was born (hatched) healthy however when the breeder was hand rearing him one of the calcium supplements had expired and by the time she realised and changed it the skeletal malformation had already set, so that was due to human error.
The other handicapped birds were due to the bubs being saved from the parents throwing them out. So in the wild the parents can tell if something is wrong and will toss or abandon, however in captivity its a choice of the owner if they want to let the bub die or rear it. Many times there are slight defects (parents only want the strongest and best)

And a big cheer for the people who adopted them and have cared for them so well! Not very many people have the heart to invest the time and extra effort that their bubs required, whether they're feathered or furred.

I live waaaay out of CBD and we only juuuuuust got NBN which is disgustingly slow but soooo much faster then my dial up speed internet I had prior haha

You almost have had all varieties of parrots but i have never seen a plumheaded parrot with you.
I have them in prior uploads, but just remember it's not our goal to obtain every species lol

If you read the description, you'll find that the green baby Quaker was born without his right eye. So, not an injury, but a birth defect.

How do you manage where each bird is, given that there so many at these gatherings
they don't belong to just one person, so same way parents are with their kids at a play ground, they only have to watch their own. However as it's their free time they are able to just go play like kids do :)

How did you guys find out about pascals depth perception issue? He seemed like a good flyer before
you might not have seen videos of him flying but his sister, I reared both of them and had videos of her flying. Pascal has always been reserved and hovered, like a bumble bee that is unsure on landing etc.
He was checked out by a avian vet who confirmed this. So he prefers to stay close to his mum or his play area :)
