@@TKUA11 This is because the UN is used as a geopolitical cudgel by the US going back to Korea. If your standards of breaking the so-called rules is an unskeptical ahistorical assertion of invasion, I invite you to look at the continuity of blatant invasion and "regime change" history perpetrated by the US which led to such geopolitical reactions and includes Ukraine itself in 2004 _and_ 2014, culminating in the brazen invasion of Iraq killing at least a million Iraqis. Iran in '53 overthrowing democratically elected Mossadegh to prevent nationalization of oil and installing the Shah, Guatemala in '54 to prevent democratically elected Arbenz from mild land redistribution, Sukarno in Indonesia putting in Suharto who would invade East Timor backed by the US, Lumumba in the Congo (hell, speaking of the UN, UN sec.gen.Dag Hammarskjöld's plane shot down at the request of the CIA using rogue Belgian mercenary pilot - Belgium of course having its stakes in the Congo since Leopold), the _first_ 9/11 in '73 overthrowing democratically elected Allende to put in Pinochet's military dictatorship, my god this is merely the _tip_ of the imperialist iceberg - and this is of course _besides_ the overt depravity of Korea (killing 20% of its population), Vietnam (including Cambodia, Laos as revealed by Pentagon Papers)... As pointed out by Vijay in this very video, the US has positioned itself as the "consumer of last resort" at the end of the global supply chain to absorb inevitable overproduction of capitalism through cheap consumption or of course through our favorite activity of war/arms sales (military Keynesianism, the only button we can push at this point clearly), launching itself to hegemony post-WWII via imposing the Bretton-Woods international financial system with the US dollar as the "global reserve currency" using the leverage of being the only industrialized nation-state _not_ bombed to shit and taking the imperial baton from the British and their pound sterling. NATO is an arms distribution network for the military industrial complex and essentially the public face of a European sphere of US domination, covertly enforced by a "strategy of tension" tactic of deliberately directed domestic terrorism seen in things like Operation Gladio in Italy (see: "years of lead", Aldo Moro assassination, Bologna bombings, etc.) with parallel operations in every NATO country where the CIA directed explicitly fascist paramilitary insurgencies ("stay-behind" armies, justified under a familiar appeal to a nonexistent manichean threat) to stoke public fear toward particular goals favorable to US corporate/finance capital and continued US hegemony. Its internally recognized geopolitical functionality as succinctly put by its first sec.gen Lord Ismay was to, _"keep the Americans in, the Germans down, and the Russians out"_ and hey, what a "coincidence", it appears to continue to enforce this state of affairs, at quite literally all costs - especially obvious when noting the industrial sabotage of Nord Stream II clearly perpetrated by the US against Germany (a callback to interwar Germany and its imposed separation by Western powers to prevent a socialist-aligned industrial base which the Bolsheviks were _explicitly_ counting on for the USSR project to have any chance at success). Russia has long insisted on a halt to NATO expansion and the removal of weapons, troops, and war games from its borders -- the very thing the U.S. would demand if Russian missiles were in Canada and did demand when Soviet missiles were in Cuba (deescalated primarily by removing nuclear missile sites in Turkey). Nuclear apocalypse is the ultimate destination of endless escalation which thanks to the material interests staked in entrenching global bourgeoisie dictatorship over the global working class achieved under the pretext of the "cold" war (not very "cold" when, say, engulfed in napalm...) happens to be the raison d'être of the US natsec state since its inception; the divine right of "the market", the management of savagery, a means to no ends - where all possibility is strictly bound to profitability and everything and everyone, including the very planet itself, is for sale for the privatized profits of insatiable individual psychopaths who despite having everything only ever want more... *_socialism or_* [continued] *_barbarism_*

Correction: Putin decided not to attend, to avoid putting South Africa in a difficult situation of not fulfilling what it signed (clearly illadvisedly) on as a signatory of the ICC. Our government had already stated that not only were we not going to arrest Putin, we had neither the desire nor the capacity to do so. So Putin didn't stay away to "avoid arrest".
In addition the U.S. does not even recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC and voted against the Rome Statute. There's too many elites in the US that'd have to be thrown in prison otherwise.

Thank you for the recap of the reasons what BRICS was suppose to add value to world order. Sometimes the west has been painting BRICS from their perspective, saying it to dethrone USD or fighting against the West, so that we forget what the BRICS is really trying to achieve. Although there is a lot of truth to it now, it is trying to help the global south to actually build up their societies through infra / education etc, which is so fundamental to the future of these countries.
A good analogy about BRICS and G7 countries are about social circles in life. G7 use to be for the rich power white countries and for the poor cousins this club is close to them. But the poor cousins dont want to be poor forever and excluded from the club that is how BRICS were formed as these poor cousins become more successful and powerful and have a say in world, economy etc.. so therefore BRICS will keep expanding and give voice to these poor cousins that aspire to be rich and successful in their own rights to trivialize and moralize BRICS is the easy way to try to dismiss this development and noone in the world wants to be poor forever and look down and talk down too....

The hegemon doesn't allow restraints on itself. It's part of our power.
So why can't America be held accountable for war crimes?
Who is going to hold them accountable?
The question should be, why can't the United States and Europe be held accountable and responsible for war crimes, crimes against humanity, corruption, atrocities, evils and wars of aggression.
The US would literally invade a country to free their war criminals.
It's funny hearing my fellow americsns act appalled that Russia didn't view the ICC as having legitimate power over its citizens, when the US has the same view.
American War criminals are always seen as redeemable and punishment is painted as punishing patriots. The torture, death, suffering, etc for the US empire is almost always justified and the perpetrators are shielded from any consequences.
Even too much that the USA could carry.

Looking forward to fair international trade for the global majority!!
The world already has fair international trade. Not all countries produce what is needed. Too bad for them. The United States makes semiconductors, China makes plastic rice. One of these countries will exist in the future and one will not. Hint… it’s not the country that makes plastic rice.
Thanks guys. Thanks ,Vijay. I am am looking forward to the debates and outcome of the BRICS Summit. Its a new era indeed.🧚♂️
Can only but love Vijay... the man is a legend!
BRICS is focused on their own growth! Couldn't bother with the US
As it should be.
It's partly because of the US's stranglehold on trade that these countries are working together..
If only they were focused on being more democratic and keeping the lights on and their emissions low.
@@MisterN1 Don't give a single f**k about another country, but if your accusations are leveled against India, they don't withstand basic scrutiny. BRICS is focused on a new era of regional imperialism. The guest says as much in the interview.

Thank you for the interview with another view. Now for the hour-long debate with all three of them!
Of course the global South should work together in peaceful and benevolent trade, and they should work for the betterment of their respective countries. But Russia and China are not the global south, and if they are intended to be part of this initiative I expect that these countries will have many challenges which will only become more significant over time.

7:58 Spot on...I remember that South African government and NGO struggled for years to bring down the cost of ARV's, which India would have supplied...The western pharmaceutical companies were just happy to see people die so they can make exorbitant prices....The same happened during Covid-19 when the west refused to share vaccines and vaccine technology...So yeah, BRICS countries are looking to release the global South from that subservient role to the west....

Good guests on this day. I sometimes wonder if Juan Gonzales is the reason. Amy has tended to become more mainstream and for the official narrative on many issues such as the Ukraine, Nicaragua, Syria, etc.
BRICS is far less militaristic than the western countries, so for that reason alone we should applaud its rise.

Very informative, thank you for thinking on a level field and for bringing history to justify our future. Please have more of these informative videos.
Awesome ending statements by vjay there. Informative video.
Very nicely explained , sir
Correction:
Putin decided not to attend, to avoid putting South Africa in a difficult situation of not fulfilling what it signed (clearly illadvisedly) on as a signatory of the ICC.
Top tier level cope there my good vatnik.
Wow, that was an amazing talk. I learned so much and am curious to know more. Vijay is so well spoken. He explains everything so simply. Will check out his article. Thanks from Pakistan!
True, BRICS is not anti-imperialist movement considering Russia, China and India are autocratic.
You're confusing domestic policy with foreign policy. It's possible for a country's government to autocratic without being an Empire, and visa versa.
😅 India is Autocratic...last I checked we have fair election and unlike USA always have Smooth peaceful transfer of power unlike Resurrections😅...and We don't Supress Minority votes (even criminals vote in India to ensure adult suffrage)...but one particular does this and call itself leader of fee world
One should also consider that Russia, China and India are not monarchies unlike some champions of democracy in west. A 4 year term doesn’t make one form of government a better democracy.
India autocratic? Lollll go and read some books india is a democracy and a better democracy than you lot who have to go to court to get your ejections and who doesn’t ask for us to vote corruption is USA
Brilliant analysis Vijay
Thank you for the recap of the reasons what BRICS was suppose to add value to world order.
Sometimes the west has been painting BRICS from their perspective, saying it to dethrone USD or fighting against the West, so that we forget what the BRICS is really trying to achieve. Although there is a lot of truth to it now, it is trying to help the global south to actually build up their societies through infra / education etc, which is so fundamental to the future of these countries.
May BRICS liberate the world from U.S hegemony.

Awesome talk. Thanks for the education. I'm always enriched by Democracy Now. 👏👏👏
