  • The Oldest Photos Ever of London - HD Colorized
    I did my best to colorize the photos as realistically as possible, but some images are challenging to colorize, and the colors are often educated guesses.
    My goal is to give you an idea of what the past might have looked like. Some scenes from the Victorian era may appear romanticized, but life was often tough for many people.
    I put a lot of work and time into these videos, though it doesn't provide enough income to live on. Luckily, I also enjoy making these videos.
    If you'd like to support me, you can treat me to a coffee at buymeacoffee.com/bingewatchzone.
    Enjoy the images and let me know what you think. Don't forget to subscribe to become part of the Binge Watch Zone family!

    Lovely colourisation of these treasured photos. As a child of the 50s these bring back memories and pride in my heritage and country that my ancestors built, fought for died for.

    What stunning work you have achieved. Wonderful photographs that tell a story of our past, I was remembering my grandparents and my parents. We are all Londoners but my family are gone now and I live in a beautiful land 9000 kilometres away from my beloved London and family and childhood memories. Thank you so much for your work.

    Great photos, I wrote a story of the Victorian era, and an assassination attempt made on her while out riding in her carriage with Prince Albert, viewed by a house maid and her fiancee out for a walk and narrated from their perspective.

    Life was tough for the working class back then.. I bet the smells were interesting too.. Can’t imagine many had a chance to bathe regularly..
    Fascinating images though.. Just people, all trying to make it in this world. Everything has changed, but also, nothing changes..

    I sent a message above to comment on the poverty your photos reveal, but I forgot to thank you for these colourised photos which are so interesting and look so much closer to ourselves in colour, rather than just in black and white. Thanks! - they are really good!

    I often think that colourizing old photos takes away the historical atmosphere of those times, especially seeing a policeman wearing a red helmet

    "...Oldest Photos Ever of London" What's with all the 20th Century pics, photography was already active & viable from the 1840s! That's almost 3 generations before the 20th century. (Nothing wrong with the well-edited shots, it's just the click-baity title.)

    • @louise_rose
      @louise_rose Месяц назад

      I was thinking that too, well it's a clickbait heading...Of course there are many photos of the London of Dickens and Disraeli.

    George V wasn’t on the throne in the Edwardian Era. His father, Edward VII was, hence the Edwardian era. He ruled from 1901 to 1910, then his son George V became King. Also there is one supposed to be Covent Garden Market in 1950, however the person in the background doesn’t seem to be wearing 1950’s clothes? Apart from that, the photos are great. I love looking at historical photos. Thanks.

    How desperately poor most people look. Must have been some good things about this period, but the poverty we see is dreadful. Thank God for modern times, the Welfare State, public benefits, social services, etc. The good old days - No. This is what happens without a caring state system. Thank God for the Labour Party. We're lucky.
