Better call this a TarjaGasm, since it was the original Nightwish singer, Tarja Turunen, from Finland. There is also a more recent version recorded in Amsterdam (Floor's homeland) last november

@@HelMut3103If they've seen Ghost love score once, and does a lot of other videos it isn't really that difficult to imagine how they could not notice it.
I think this was their second video, and they're apparently watching on a cell phone. It would be easy to mistake with that small of a screen.
That was not Floor. That was the OG of symphonic metal Tarja Turunen the original singer and a co founder of NW with Tuomas and Emppu. They grew up together in Kitte. She was with them from the start in 1996 till left 2005. She still has a solo career. Floor is the third singer who came in 2013. Both are wonderful and are good friends but slightly diff singing styles and NW is a slightly diff sound and look. A lot of the songs including Ghost Love Score were written by Tuomas for Tarja and Floor songs them wonderfully plus newer stuff. So guess its a Targesm.

Floor Jansen has also sung this on a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers with a singer called Henk Poort, who is an opera singer who played the Dutch Phantom for years. They just did it live in Amsterdam with the last Nightwish tour this summer, too. Check them out. 😊
This was the final live performance of Nightwish in 2005 with their original 1st vocalist, Tarja Turunen. She is basically a full on Operatically trained singer.
Floor joined as the 3rd and current vocalist in 2012. Nightwish recently in 2022 performed this song for the first time in 17 years (the one you just reacted to) in Amsterdam with Floor and Henk Poort singing the role of The Phantom. Henk is an opera singer and was cast in the role of the Dutch production of this musical when he was a younger man. It is also amazing and worth checking out.
Floor has operatic and musical theater training and you will see how she approaches this song in a more musical theater style such as the original.

Here you met the original Nightwish singer, Tarja (pronounced Tarya with a Y) and their former bass-player and male vocalist, Marko - who sadly left the band a couple of years ago after 20 years....we all miss him; you've just seen a small example of why he was/is a much loved member of the band and a legend in European metal. Tarja started with the band in 1996 and was with the band for 9 years and made 5 albums with them; she now has her own brilliant solo career.This performance is legendary.
The current singer, Floor, who you all saw singing Ghost Love Score (which was originally sung by Tarja), has also performed Phantom of the opera both with Nightwish, and most notably back in 2019 when she took part in a Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers,' and did a duet with Henk Poort, who was also on the show and was the original 'Phantom' in the Netherlands...that performance went viral! Henk Poort also performed 'Phantom...'with Floor at a Nightwish show in Amsterdam last year.

One thing that amazes me is that 4 of 5 of Nightwish came from town that has less than 10k people that is far from the any major cities. How is this possible? It should be studied all over the world, if the place has something on it's water. I think the original bass player till 2001 was from there also.
It amazes me because I came from same sized Finnish town and it's hard for me to imagine anything coming from any town like that. I think all the stars were aligned for them.

As someone who bought his first Nightwish CD back in 1998, Ocean born, i have a soft spot for Tarja even if I also live Floor... And Ocean born is still my all around favorite album
One of the three EPIC versions of this song, Floor with Henk on Beste Zangers is next, and for a true Floorgasm you have to watch the 2022 Ziggo Dome performance. The last two feature Henk Poort in the role of the Phantom, which he played in the Dutch performances of Phantom. It is said that Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber himself said Henk was one of his favorite Phantoms. That being said, since he was working with Floor, he did something in both of these performances that he NEVER did in a stage production as the Phantom! This was Tarja’s last show in 2005. Nightwish didn’t perform it again for over 17 years, when they did it in Amsterdam with Floor and Henk Poort. There is a very good video of that performance as well, if you want to check that out.

As others have mentioned this is the bands first singer, Tarja Turunen. She is a full on classically trained singer and sang mostly in a very dark operatic voice with the band although she was broadening her vocal styles by the time of this concert. For me the best part of this performance is Marko's gritty, evil Phantom. IMO he totally steals the show. Tarja is a great singer and I think there are better songs that showcase her voice. Like The Siren, Planet Hell, or Bless the Child.
The previous singer you saw, Floor, also has performed Phantom, first on the Dutch singing show Beste Zangers, then in her solo concerts, and finally with Nightwish back in November in Amsterdam. In all cases she sings with Henk Poort, a famous Dutch musical theater star who was the original Phantom in the Dutch production of the play. Floor was a huge fan of his from a very young age and did the show just to meet him. She asked to sing this song with him on the night they do duets and he agreed with the promise that they would perform it with Nightwish the next time they were in concert in Amsterdam. Delayed by the pandemic, they finally made good on the promise last November. The fans were hoping that it would happen but the band kept it a surprise and when that droning keyboard rang out, the fans went nuts. The Beste Zangers performance is my favorite. A very intimate setting. Lots of interaction between Floor and Henk. Floor is using a more musical theater voice and is using more vocal runs to add to the emotion of the song. The version she does with Nightwish is very similar to what you saw here with Floor using a more operatic voice with rounder vowels but she does hit that F6 at the end and hold it for over 10 seconds.

Small correction - that was Tarja, the original singer of Nightwish, with her last concert with the band. She was fired right in the backstage area.
I love this great performance, but I prefer the live version of Nightwish with Floor and guest singer Henk Poort from November 2022 in Amsterdam. Floor creates here with the last high note for 12 !!! seconds a unique and magical moment that you have to experience!

@@LeliawithImmediatelyyes That is a topic worthy of a multi page article. There are of course different sides to the story. She was fired via an open letter from the band detailing their reasons. You can find the letter on the internet if you want to read it for yourselves. She responded with an open letter of her own that explains her perspective. Also on the internet. Suffice to say their relationship had been deteriorating for some time, in the bands mind driven by the greed of her husband, and they could no longer work together. The fans backlash against the bands keyboardist and composer, Tuomas Holopainen, was huge and drove him into a deep depression. To deal with it he wrote IMO the bands greatest masterpiece, The Poet and the Pendulum, as a carthartic exercise. In it he kills himself as a way of getting rid of his dark thoughts.

Ladies, I love that you are reacting to Nightwish, but you really need to clean up the audio. While Tarija's version is good you should give the Floor version Feat. Henke Poort from Ziggo Dome a listen. But please throw out the flip phone and use a laptop for the audio.
This was Tarja, the first singer. They recently released a version of Phantom with Floor (featuring Henk Poort) which is also great. But you must hear the version that Floor sings with Henk on "Beste Zangers"!
No, you gotta check out the more recent one with the great floor, Jensen and Hank P. Because in my opinion, it’s better, but that’s my opinion people are entitled to like which version they like but to me that’s the best one.

@@bertjones3010 It's definitely Marko. The 'original singer' in the comments most people are talking about is Tarja. Marko was with the band from 2001 and this concert was in 2005. He just officially left the band in 2021 and put out a great solo album.

there are two more phantom versions one with floor and henk port at a show called beste zangers and one with these two plus the nightwish band which is closer to the tarja version here but still both versions with floor are worth it as well. To me there is no better. They are all great the rest depends on the mood or type of voice you prefer.
The guy sounds like Riff Raff from Rocky Horror Picture show and, of course, Tarja is not Floor. Much prefer Floor and Henk Poort (he was THE phantom in the theater production in the Netherlands). While the latter two have performed this with Nightwish they get swallowed up pretty much by the band. This is a MUCH heavier version of Phantom of the Opera. Nightwish aren't just a band. They're a spiritual journey.
This was not Floor Jansen, that is Tarja Turunen their first singer, she was fired from the band right after that concert due to her behind the scenes toxic behavior, the concert that this piece is from is called End of and Era. After her they hired Swede Annette Olson and produced 2 albums with her. After she left the band, Floor Jansen was hired as a stand in singer at first, then joined full time.
I'd highly recommend you go check out "Poet and the Pendulum" live in Wembley, the symbol you are using for Nightwish comes from the album Dark Passion Play and the first track of that is called Poet and the Pendulum. It's a dark piece, but is honestly one of Tuomas' best compositions ever.
I don't think it's best to describe someone so negatively when trying to introduce a person. You make her sound like an awful woman, which she is not.
@@L3onOfKings if they want more context I'm sure they can find it, but the truth of the matter is that she did a lot of really bad stuff and almost brought the band down with her. I was simply giving a very quick and brief bullet point format introduction to the band. Two songs were written specifically about her after her departure, Bye Bye Beautiful and Master Passion Greed, not to mention several tidbits in The Poet and the Pendulum, you don't get those songs of that magnitude written about you unless you hurt someone deeply.

There is some strange noise cancellation/muffling effect in the audio (maybe a normalizer?) on your reaction videos to Nightwish, not sure if it is intentional or not. If it isn't, I hope it isn't the quality you are listening to these amazing songs to

I know that I am definitely in the minority here, but I'm not a big Nightwish fan. With that being said, I can definitely appreciate the incredible talent and musicianship of the band. Of the 2 videos you reacted to, I do prefer the vocalist in the 1st video over the one in this video. 👍✌️
Tarja has a very prominent "opera" style compared to Floor and as such many of the songs from early Nightwish played to this trait and imho can often sound quite dissonant and I sometimes find them a little hard to listen to. Their second singer, Anette, had a much more "pop" orientated voice and I guess is probably much easier for most people to listen to (plus the band moved to a much fuller and warmer overall tone in the music. Floor (vocalist from the first song the ladies reacted to) can and does do full opera but has a much more rounded and flexible voice ranging right the way to death metal growls. Having said all that, I prefer this version far more than the latest ones Floor has done with Henk Poort as the hero of this version is Marco, his portrayal vocally of the Phantom is imho possibly the best ever done due to the anguish and pain and sheer deviousness he manages to invoke in the metal vocals.

Yep, the audio on the music video was all over the place on this one. I've heard this End Of An Era version a hundred times before but never with such a strange sound quality.
That aside, I won't state the obvious regarding who the real singer was here as I'm sure it will have been pointed out to these three girls many times by now. As for the performance itself - easily the best version by anyone ever.
Without Marko, this version would of been a dud. IMO.
Now you need to react to the Floor and Henk Poort version. Henk Played the phantom in the Netherlands Phantom of the Opera musical. Floor grew up being a fan of Henks. It was great seeing her perform with one of her childhood heroes.

Glad you picked the right version, for me anyways. This one with Tarja is my favorite. I generally do not like her with the operatic style on her songs. But this one is my favorite. Much better than Floor with another man. Floor is fantastic, I just don't like the guy she sings with. Other wise Floor is great.
