Totally agree with the sponsorship thing! No RUclipsr should be trading product for promotion.. advertising is expensive and these brands need to pay for it! Not to mention that it hurts all of us other RUclipsrs because the bar keeps getting set lower and lower price wise. I don't even respond to 99% of the "sponsors" that reach out to me because it's just crap that they want free promo for 🙅‍♀️

I'm a physiotherapist and also happen to have scoliosis. It's surprisingly common, so nothing to worry about. One way to improve both sides of your back, without one arm compensating is to do unilateral training - there are rowing machines with two separate handles for example.

    • @nekeon
      @nekeon 2 года назад

There are actually cases where scoliosis is something to worry about. A person very close to me had to have extensive back surgery as a teen otherwise he would be in a wheelchair because of a very crooked spine. Strength training is helping but it is not helping everyone. As a physiotherapist you should be aware of that.

I was also diagnosed with scoliosis a couple years ago. I was 28. Mine came about because I’m a police officer and my belt with all my heavy gear shifted my spine to the side with the most weigh pushing down on my hip. It’s a problem a lot of girl cops have but I didn’t think it would happen to me so soon in my career. The exercises GREATLY improved my strength. I hope you start feeling better and getting stronger 💕❤️ I feel like you seem so happy and glowing in this video.

Scoliosis was a weird kind of boogeyman for me growing up in America in the 80s and 90s. There was a big scare about kids getting it because of how heavy backpacks were, and there was a big push at the national level to screen kids once a year for like... how many pushups could you do, how flexible were you, what was your BMI, how straight was your spine, that kind of thing. (You'd think the solution would be "restrict the number/size of books kids had to haul around for their classes", but that's logic, and we don't do that in this country.)
Regardless, having a name for the thing does give you more power to address the problems, so I'm glad the exercise is helping and hope things keep getting better! (If only he could prescribe you a horse.)

My husband and I listen to it every night while going to sleep and it is both chill and creepy. It is respectful to those involved and not overly sensational. It also doesn't really push the listener to believe one idea about a mystery over another. It is fun to look up the primary sources the day after listening to an episode, and many stick with us for a long time after listening. We love it!

Now that you say that about grow lights, a lot of the plant tubers i watch do have a crap ton of videos about their “grow light”. The shittiest part, is that people go out and buy 300 dollar grow lights and it’s not even necessary- maybe for growing maryj, but not house plants. But, that’s why the grow light companies target them- because they do know the influence they have over buyers. Sadddd. Especially when it sound like it’s not even worth it!

The psoas isn’t usually the focus with doctors, it’s not a very well researched or understood muscle. ❤️ There is a trauma connection too, it is a muscle that is engaged during fight-flight-freeze. A lot of trauma yoga addresses this muscle.

Sorry to hear about your back, but at least you've been diagnosed early! I've got severe scoliosis, double curve that looked exactly like an "S" till I had surgery a few years ago. It's not fun so I get what you're going through. Unfortunately your curve will increase every year.. What I would suggest for you is to look into getting a back brace(an option for mild curves), which you could wear to protect your back when horse riding! That and back exercises should help heal and slow that curve increase. Hopefully this helps a little, take care of yourself!!

Hi Kaylee. So glad you're continuing your horse riding. Even if you can extend that one lesson a week to an hour instead of 30 mins it would really benefit you. I always found the 30 minute lessons were too short to really work on anything properly. I hope you find a barn soon. Look into leasing a horse as also. My sister leases her horse and her leasee has access to the horse 2 days a week. But in the contract the leasee has to take lessons with a trainer while leasing if they are a beginner. Find out when your local shows are. You can meet so many people that way. Good luck 😊

The Apology Line is such a great podcast. I wanted more when it was over. Crossing my fingers for another season. In summery it is recording if people calling in on a number and they can tell their deepest darkest secrets. It’s chilling and dark.

The scoliosis can be strenghtened by carrying heavy handbags in your right hand. My mum has one shoulder higher than the other because of that. It is better to only carry small bags or a backpack.

I have scoliosis that was undiagnosed until February this year. I had to go to the ER because of extreme pain on my back. Anyway, do have a proper check up on yours. An MRI will give you a clear picture of the condition of your spine. I kept putting my check up off, relying on pain meds when my back was sore. Guess what, my IV discs from L4-S1 are dessicated. That's really bad. Just have a proper check up. Physio can teach you about proper body mechanics such as when lifting things, standing etc., to prevent further damage to your spine. I hope you have it done before you continue with horseback riding and gym. Take care.

You have come a long way from the early days of repotting at a table with your latex gloves on and getting soil everywhere 😀 Shame about the horse riding lessons, hopefully you will find somewhere else. Looking forward to the gnarly episode

Yeah I have scoliosis as well, since I was 13yrs old, it's gotten worse over the years (I'm 36 now) and doctors don't help a whole lot. Physical therapy was the only thing that helped. I also found out one leg was a little shorter then the other and got a shoe insert that really helped.

Kaylee I just watched your living wall creation video and I want to make my own mini living wall in my bedroom!
How do you look after all of the plants on the wall, what if they get pests and they’ll all have different watering needs?
Also how did you attach the plants further up did you just attach a their pot to the wall?

I really recommend you to use vinegar for controling pests at home (for a shop it might be tedious). It is very effective on killing insects on the leaves and control fungi. I've had amazing results on just the second application, the mealybugs were gone! You just have to dilute 1 part of vinegar to 10 parts of water and apply it 2 times a week with a spray on the leaves. However, I would test it first in a leaf to see how well the plant does with it. I really enjoy watching your videos and I've learned a lot.

OMG so sad the camera stopped on its own. Perhaps not the first time it happened?
In video production / cinematography there is a thing called Tally Light. Which is just a red / green indication light that lights up when the camera is rolling. The set up should be quite simple.
Or, maybe consider switching to Sony FX3? One it has multiple built-in configurable tally lights, two it's autofocus is second to none. It also has the best-in-class video quality, quite conveniently.
Love your works, thanks for the quality content.

Were you ever screened in high school/as a teenager for scoliosis? It’s a common screening in the US since it’s important to detect it while you are still growing. Lots of scoliosis in my family.

The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett is good read for non-typical fantasy. All 4 books are great, one of my favourite series. Eragon and Game of Thrones in book form are also worth a read.
Oh, and the Jurassic Park books are eye opening.
