You should look into Power Bomberman, a pc fan game that is pretty much a love letter to the Super Nintendo entries that has a lot of characters both old and new as snes sprites, a lot of maps/items/modes of play with modifiers that can let you play locally or online with 12 PLAYERS. Seriously a fun way to have some retro content either by yourself with randoms or with friends.
I remember my first BomberMan Game. BomberMan '94 for the Turbo Grafx on the Wii Virtual Console Menu. Good times. Took a year off the game because the final level in that game was so damn hard.

Maybe you just discovered the game because of the konami sponsorship, but you just played the most chaotic and fun multiplayer friend-destroyer game that started even before mario party! I haven't played R2 so idk if here they have some moves. - Before Konami, Bomberman was part of a company named Hudson Soft. Sadly they went backrupt, and Konami bought the rights. - Bomberman lore is fu**** up. Not just in sense of deep stuff like Sonic and Kirby, but, because IT'S A FREAKING MESS, one game can have a different plot with it's own characters and world, and it's been like that since THE 90's. I just hope they make their minds right and make R the only one. - It's completely okey to die in a stupid way with your own bombs. It's tradition at this point.
