I really never had that problem, and made friends easily. There were a few exceptions that I just did not want to pair with from the jump, like "can my grade no be in the hands of the kid who snorted Crystal Light yesterday?"

When you go to gym class and you're chosen last-last. Or when no one likes you and the teacher shows mad disrespect as well. All because you're smart and/or different.
Sometimes the teacher won't allow that though. And that's when you hope the teacher will either compromise or assign a group to you so you don't have to choose.
The saddest part is that it's real, school kids are really the worst but it's made worse by the fact that we were all school kids at one point. Things were a lot harder back then.

this is the reason i hated school, no one talked to me unless i interacted with them, and the only way i could find a partner was if the teacher assigned them, even the other quiet kid didnt pick me as a partner. and the sneezing part is so accurate, as soon as one of the popular kids sneeze evryone is like bless you but when i sneezed it was dead silent, its like people expect they can treat someone differently because they arent as popular. sorry for ranting but i just had to get it off my chest.

After experiencing this two times I swiftly decided that I would choose to always work alone.
