Never expected Elden Ring characters on this channel but I am 100% all for it. Malekith is an amazing character and boss in the game. And his theme is amazing and a bit underrated in my opinion.
you know, in my head i always called him wise old master GURRANQ. and i always was quite happy with all the beast powers he'd give to me. i saw him as a friend and was was worried i'd done something wrong when he was went mad from eating too much deathroot. you can imagine my shock and destress when he showed up in farm azula!
I said, "Master!? No! i don't want to fight you!"
then i was all like
"Wait you're Malekith?! *YOU* have the rune of death!"
suffice to say i was sad.
Maliketh is soo underrated!
The guilt, regret, trauma and betrayal he must have experienced and his limited being as a shadow surely doesn't make his life better.
I loved the music, the design and lore about this character and can't say enough how much of a great character he is.
I don't know, but when I fought him in his second phase, I was really listening to the music and the music said soo much about his current state of mind. Like you could feel his emotions during this battle. I mean he isn't just fighting the tarnished, but also against himself and against an act, which surely caused him a lot of despair, because in the end. The tarnished got the rune of death, which Maliketh was eager to protect.
I hate how idiots have repurposed the word "underrated" and now it means absolutely nothing..
It says a lot about the Rune of Destined Death's purpose in Marika's plan that she crafted it into a stabbing implement big enough to shave entire swords off of it. it must have taken so much isolation and gaslighting to reaffirm sad dog boi that guarding a weapon half his weight made of literal death would prevent it from ever being used.
Great analysis on a great character! He's definitely tragic even if he's not as tragic as how many attempts it took to defeat him...

When he says "why marika ? ... why ... shatter" with sadboi voice it really hurt me, poor Maliketh
I would’ve called Morgott that, since he’s so loyal to the tree even though by birth he’s treated like garbage for it, yet he’s the most loyal demigod
you could say that they both are equally tragic they both believe in a failed order that mistreated them failed them even all for Marika's arrogance at trying to end the cycle of life and death

It’s exciting to have so many different views on the game. Personally, when it comes to Marika I don’t really think she was all that bad. Now Radagon on the other hand, is the main villain of the game. I understand Marika = Radagon. But while Marika is trying to shatter the Elden Ring her other half is trying to repair it. The golden order really remind me of the old Jedi order in the knights of the old republic. A flaw system held desperately by ignorance and arrogance… that is what Radagon is…
I find Marika to be an incredibly intriguing but still detestable villain. I understand why she shattered the Elden Ring-she’s trying to escape a fate literally forced on her- but in doing so she not only abandoned her children and step children to a never ending and brutal war, but she left the land to decay and fall apart with no plan on the outset. The Greater Will is the ultimate villain for me, but I love Marika and her part as well.

Everyone has so much sympathy for so many characters in this game but Rennala and Marika routinely get overlooked, misunderstood or quite simply shit on lol.

Considering that we release Destined Death to kill the Elden Beast, it's safe to say that Marika used Maliketh to seal away Destined Death, so that death stopped, but also to keep Destined Death close by, so she could release a part of it to kill the Elden Beast when she wanted to. That way, she can kill the Elden Beast in the small window that she could while making sure Destined Death was still sealed after her mission was finished.
Which also means that Marika 99% was the one responsible for the Night of the Blade Knives.
The way I see it, Marika used Ranni and the Black Knife Assassins to kill Godwyn and release Destined Death while she made her way to kill the Elden Beast. The only problems with that were: 1) Ranni had other plans and 2) Marika was way in over her head to think she could beat the Elden Beast (or maybe Ranni killing herself made it impossible for Marika to kill the Elden Beast).
If the developers wanted to keep deep into the lore if you lose to Maliketh it’ll be permadeath and you’ll have to start the game over.
Marika is a 20th level warlock who used her simulacrum and alter self spell to seduce her political rivals, turn her party/polycule into demigods, and plant the seeds to overthrow her great old one Warlock patron when she realized it was using her to invade the material plane.
Here’s the thing. He didn’t die…
