Hi tugboat8475. My wife and I have been on the road full time for near on 18months now as we work and travel around the country. We started with a 2wd Hilux and tent for getting out and about, then moved to rebuilding a '77 13ft pop top caravan and purchasing an auto diesel 4x4 ute. We've been free camping for the last 2 months on the way to the next work contract and can offer that you don't need 300k+ worth of rig to see the country in comfort:)
@@nathankelly1708 how do you find the free camp sites these days with the housing crisis? We have been to a few sometimes I don't know, but some look pretty shonky dodgy looking characters. @@tugboat8475 hey mate, some of the free camp spots have been very basic indeed. Tamworth was a rest area with the airport on one side of the highway and a freight depot on the other. Not taken the wrong way at all mate. This is the third truck don’t like this and it’s never been a problem. And trust me, I definitely put it through its paces
Regardless of the cost of the truck. Genuine question and I’m not trying to be a smart arse just curious What’s the running cost on an American truck like this? I’m guessing and correct me if I’m wrong 25-30lt per 100 km towing in remote areas $2.30 to $3.00 per Lt. so at a minimum $70 per hundred ks. So for a 500km day that’s $350 Doing that week in week out would send me broke😢
hey buddy...all good. Yes 25 to 28 average with the caravan on the back. We are about 10.5t combined weight so id say that's pretty damn good. On our 210ltr tank we average anywhere from 550 to 600ks a tank. It gets very expensive when in remote areas and the diesel prices are upwards of $3 per litre. the truck on its own averages anywhere fro 14 to 18ltrs per hundred.
These are classed as Trucks legally in AUS, trucks have different rules to Cars, and general std 4wd like navaras, hilux, patrols, land cruisers etc are classed as cars.
The Australian law regarding NB2 registered vehicles (vehicles with over 4.5T GVM.) states that regarding height the headlights can not exceed 1400mm in height from a flat surface. It doesn’t matter how the vehicles reaches this point the sky is the limit… 6.5” lift w/ 37’s completely legal. They could probably run 40” tyres and still be well under that 1400mm mark.
Hi. Sick rig! But genuine question. Cos as much as we love it, we probably can only afford half of the amount that you said this cost which is $450k approx. And that’s maxing it. So just want some clarity. Does it mean GMSV gave the car to you for free so you didn’t physically pay it with money but rather with advertising their car? Also, if that’s the case, do you have to give it back to them when you decide you want to change to a different car. No offense meant. For us with common jobs and dreaming about something like this. When you see the places we go, you’ll understand why high clearance is important. But the main reason is because we like it and we can and it looks cool 😁
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown still limited by clearance between the diff and the ground, i doubt we will see you doing the actual Gunshot. So where exactly is it that your going that need 6"lift... :D
And now the height of the vehicle is a clearance issue, I’ve traveled around aus for the past 15 months and my 2 inch lift has been fine, don’t get me wrong it’s a cool truck but when you have to get on tippy toes to open your fridge you look like a flog

Not to be a negative Nancy here, but who the heck has that kind of money to spend on a truck. Dont get me wrong awesome set up. But even as someone who can afford one, I just can’t justify the cost. Why do you need a 6 inch lift ?
@@stand4807the clearance between the diff and ground is pretty high 👍🏼 and I don’t understand how gunshot has anything to do with gunshot 🤷🏽♂️
Maybe wait till you see our content being released in September and it might change your mind ✌🏼
@@jakeovermeyer6886 These days its all about my Willie is bigger than your Willie... 🤣😂😆😜
Just not practical to cook at that height noone wants to stand on a step to cook or get stuff out
Sounds like that could be a you problem. Definitely not a problem for us ✌🏼
@@AussieDestinationsUnknownit’s a problem for you you need a step to get in and out 🤣🤣🙄🤦🏻♂️
As I said, it’s not a problem for us 🤟🏼
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown yeah but your promoting this truck to thousands of people while promoting all your companies that it’s the best of the best. Heard you say this many times. It’s 100% a problem when you need a step… no one in there right mind can say that’s practical. Don’t tell people it’s not cause your ok with it. That’s because you’re promoting all your sponsors that did this for you and you want the “look at me look at me status 🙄🙄
@@brendanrust9275 you’ll be right buddy 👍🏼
Not to be a negative Nancy here, but who the heck has that kind of money to spend on a truck.
Dont get me wrong awesome set up. But even as someone who can afford one, I just can’t justify the cost. That’s money on something that depreciates in value. Unless it’s making $ it’s costing $.
All cool for views if RUclips IS your job.
Good luck with everything. Safe travels. 🍻
We totally understand where you are coming from but just remember one thing. This is our life, we live permanently on the road travelling for a job. It’s our home and something that we rely on every single day. It needs to be setup, capable and safe for everyday living.
I hope that makes it a little clearer for you. 😁
Not something your average Joe can afford . Given the vehicle and the mods , not much change from 200K .
We’re average people 🤷🏽♂️ and if double that figure too
Well people these days aren't spending money like it's going outta fashion..truck yes looks wicked.. but the normal person can't afford this.. I think this is just bragging to make people jealous... sorry that's how I see it
Mate, you clearly don’t follow Big Dog Builds or any other people who build trucks like this? BDB pump out so many builds like this that they’re booked out well in advance. And - we are normal people. No different to anyone else. We’ve worked hard, saved and now in our 40’s and 50’s have what we’ve been working towards. Your comments sounds very much like a you problem. We are travelling right now with a young family who have pretty much the same setup as us. Guess it depends on your perspective on life. We like our perspective and are quite happy with the decisions we’ve made to get us the life we’ve wanted. Have a nice day ✌🏼
I met this bloke at the goldy caravan park playing with his dirtbike, hes a champ and not like that at all,its his lifestyle and job, they travel fulltime and dont own a house, who cares if they have money and can afford it, hats off to them
Thanks mate….we come across people like this occasionally. They are probably in these positions in life because of this exact attitude.
@AussieDestinationsUnknown hi, don't get me wrong you do have a wicked truck, I'm just saying that it's hard out there these days, I mean no ill content, sorry if it came.across that way
Saying that we are bragging to make people jealous!!! How are we surposed to take it 🤦🏽♂️
To big. Unpractised. You must be towing like 6tones.
Not for us it’s not 👍🏼
Overcompensating perhaps??
Haven't heard that before 😂😂😂. Definitely sounds like a you problem ✌🏼
You’re projecting. In case you haven’t noticed hes with a woman
😂😂😂 Absolutely ridiculous! Actually, pathetic is a better way to describe it!🙄
✌🏼
Your comment is pathetic
I'd rather buy a house than this waste of money
Ok…✌🏼
That’s the beauty of buying what you want with your own money.
