- Here it is … the highly anticipated ADU GMSV Chevy Silverado Version 3 Walk through video 😁👊🏼
We’ve taken what we’ve learned in our past 2 builds and turned our 2024 GMSV HD2500 truck into what we believe to be the best tourer in the country. We had no idea how we were going to better the last one - but the crew has pulled together and we’ve done it! You’ll notice a few key differences like the colour, lights and yes, we’ve finally added a boat.
Look a little closer and you’ll see some other major and minor changes too. These trucks are incredible stock standard and what we have created is something fit for purpose - full time touring around Australia while towing our large caravan.
Unfortunately we ran out of time to complete everything before we hit the road to Alice Springs on Tuesday, so a few things like paint protection are still to be done when we get a chance.
None of this would have been possible without these incredible people/businesses - we can’t thank you all enough!! What a cracker of a team effort. 😍

Thats one blinged up gumboot 💪 good to see a big rig like that with all the fruit that actually gets used
Cheers brother!!! Haha yeah we definitely use it for what it we built for 🤟🏼
Cheers Chris good to see a little more technical aspects of the truck.
yeah we are too buddy....The MY24 is such a nicer vehicle then its predecessor
Very cool boat load was Amazing one person operation, And the Grey just with that Black makes it , always love the information you pass on thank you safe trave Tess and David.
Thanks guys….so happy you enjoyed it 🎉😊
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown You know we will be taking what you're teaching us to a new build your help is making it easy thank you 😘
@@TessaJennerlet us know if you have any questions. We’d love to steer you in the right direction
The whole build is a work of art but the canopy geometry is real nice, they've got some clever design nerds on board for sure.
The best looking canopy on the market by far. OC really know what they’re doing 😁
Amazing Ride, you got. We still tent it, maybe one-day a caravan. All the best to you guys. Great entertaining videos. Well done. Travel safe
@@tugboat8475 thanks 🙏🏼. As long as you’re out there enjoying that’s all that matters 😁
Love it, now hurry up and put some touring eps out, been way toooo long since last. can't wait.👍
We aren’t doing those kind of videos anymore - the RUclips world has become flooded with travel content. We are going to be doing live videos starting soon though! 😁
Brilliant job. Seems like the best thought out mods I've ever seen. Thanks.
Thanks! and yep a lot of thought has gone into this tourer
What another cracking build Legends!! Enjoy the rig!! Big dog nailed it yet again!!
@@lochieweier9295 thanks mate!!! It was a mammoth team effort
Who wants to see him lift that 20hp outboard above chest height? Without a step. :)
Haha - we’ve done it a few times now 😉
@AussieDestinationsUnknown Go and show us all on video recording of getting it off the back of the boat and into the truck with out looking uncomfortable and un practical....
Go on.. show us... 😂😂😂😂
@@stand4807 🤦🏽♂️😂
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown its true but, massive spend and design process off the build. But that part.
You and your wife are my insperation . Thanks for showing your awsome setup . Happy travels
Our pleasure!
You are tougher than Rocky, you have been 'blown away' at least 4 times in 10 minutes.....wow
BLOWN AWAY!!!! 🤟🏼
that is awesome. I'm so envious. Great build.
Thanks so much - we’re stoked with how it’s turned out 😁
Chris the truck is a beast enjoy ready for overlanding
thanks a lot Shaun...appreciate it
No wonder young people struggle Keeping up with the Jones. My car van combo cost me an arm and leg. I am close to 50 years of age with wife and adult children. we all have seen this beautiful country before it was opened up to the tube. Simple is the best, please don't live big, live simple, you will smile more! Luv your vids. Keep it real! please! I am a 6 ft 4 with a big frame and would struggle with your setup. 95% of the time, I am always the tallest at camp!
We agree 100% - there’s no point struggling keep up with the Jones’s. If you want/need something, work hard and save. That’s what we did. We’ve worked our way up to this for over 10 years. We don’t have a house and we have been living on the road for 4 years. This is what we like. We will continue to LIVBIG and keep it real just like we always have. We’ve had lifted 4x4’s for nearly 14 years now and love it. This makes us smile as much as being in our (lifted and modified) Hilux and Jayco. It’s seems other people feel as though they have to try and keep up which makes no sense to us. This is and always has been our style 😁 Thanks so much for your support! We appreciate it. Oh - and I met a guy testy who is 6.7” and has a massive 5th wheeler as it’s the only thing he can stand up in - he tows with a Chevy too 😁😁
Lovely set up Chris....Now get on the move!😜👍
Thanks Roy! Haha we’re on the move buddy. Been putting it through its paces for the last 6 weeks. Wait till you see this content 👌🏼😁
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown 👍👍
Nice bit of gear guys. Well done. Cheers Steve
Thanks
That’s an awesome tour. Thank you for explaining everything, love your work and safe travels!!
Glad you enjoyed it mate
Great video and I really like the colour!!! It’s unique.
Thanks 🙏🏼
Dean is a top bloke!
He sure bloody is
Awesome rig, love it, I want one :)
You should!
You nailed it! Wait that's what you said.
Haha yep!! We sure did 😁🙌🏼
BADASS ! 💯🇦🇺
yewwww thanks!!
What a ride. Well done guys.
Thanks Craig. Appreciate it buddy
Curiuos to know how noisy those big tyres are on the black stuff?
I was a little worried about this but they arent bad at all.
Great video guys, so many awesome ideas to incorporate into my own build!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mate it’s a weapon, I love it!😍
Thanks 🙏🏼
Make that 7 times in in 20 mins....blown away again
Really! That mind blowing
Partially colour coding canopies isn't done because that's what people like. It's because it costs too much to paint the whole thing, so people cheap out. Fully painting it like you have done is the correct way
Looks alright hey!!😁
Stay safe in your travelling adventures
Thanks
Nice
Thanks
Looks wicked guys 👌
Thanks 🙏🏼
Hey mate that’s one wicked set up 🥵🥵 would love to see a video comparison of how the yellow lights go with the white lights and sign reflection like what you were saying 🤘
Thanks mate…yeah we will be doing a video on the lights shortly
Awesome Rig I want one its magic 💥🤠
Thanks 🙏🏼
Only time will tell who is left standing when the shit hits the fan and it will it always does.
Love watching utube to see who can piss futher up the trough
Thanks for your lovely comment ✌🏼😁
It certainly is a weapon 👌.
Thanks Shane
Wheel and tire setup? Looks 👌
Yeah we love the machined look
that'a a mammoth of a truck!
Yeah we are so use to them
Fuckin mint rig guys well done killing it 🤜
Thanks man! 😁🙏🏼
Is there a video with the weights of the vehicle, GVM/GCM etc as a finished product. Also, what hat are you wearing in this video?
No I haven’t done this video as yet. It’s a Method hat ✌🏼
Like totally awsome build y'all, I bet in Aussie that's like a 400K build? Heck, even here that would be like a 250k build in USD.
That's 50k more than I paid for my house !
Thanks mate…yeah this build is just over 400k. Bloody awesome though 🙌🏼
I want one badly
😁
Great truck, black sucks yep. Ever had any major breakdowns with any of them?
Never ever blacks trucks again 😂
No mate…they have been very reliable 👍🏼
Love the built to the details. May I ask why you do not have 12V Starlink instal to the car? Thanks
Hey mate…the main reason is if I’m ever away from the caravan then Miriam won’t have any internet. If we travel without the van then I’ll bring it with us
Fully sick!!!!!!!!!!!
😁🙏🏼
I like the look off them big American utes and my girlfriend can drive it on her car licence very handy , i hope Australia stock parts 4 them readily that cornserns me when out bush , i always thought amba lights were for driving through fog only , illegal other times 🤔
👍🏼😁
Awesome build guys! Curious how did you fix your prestige plates? Double sized tape or sika?
Thank you! Double sided tape 😁
How can you see what's in the drawers, canopy is REALLY high?
Stand tall ✌🏼
we need lots of these at affordable prices
🤟🏼
$900.00 tyres very nice 😂 all seriousness clean tourer 🤝
The best
What is the towing capacity and what licence do you need?
Is 4500kg BTC and mine is NB2, LR license
Thats a dream ultimate truck you have built. One thing you didnt say was how much water do you carry and where is the tank?
Thanks mate…oh yeah sorry about that. It holds 125ltrs
Love your truck. Bull Bar question. I'm worried with my truck at standard height that the Creative Offroad bar won't do the job with protection from skippy strikes either for headlight protection or radiator. Love to hear your thoughts please, considering the amount of miles you've travelled around OZ?
Hey Kevin, we’ve never hit any animals so I can really comment on that part, off-road creative bars aren’t really designed for hitting animals but I’m sure they’ll do the job. I definitely wouldn’t want to be hit by one 😂
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown Thanks, glad to hear you've had a good run. Look forward to following your adventures on RUclips. Now that we have our new 2500 and van may even get to see you on the road. Stay safe.
travel safe buddy and im sure we'll bump into each other down the road somewhere.
Great. But the height of the kitchen facilities must be a pita? Needs a solution IMO
We’ve had the same height kitchen for our last three trucks and it hasn’t bothered us. Pretty use to it now
👍❤️Awesome 😎
Thanks 🤗
Fantastic walk around, great truck but missed one important question what was the price for the truck and all the upgrades ie total build please? Thanks and enjoy. Cheers
Total price is about $430k
Woooooow amazing. Thanks for replying. I’ll keep dreaming and just continue to follow you guys and your wonderful travels. Cheers
Hahaha thanks 🙏🏼
High guys. Really interested in the Dometic storage bags you showed in your video. Could you please point me in the direction of which ones they are please. TIA
Hey mate…if you jump on the Dometic Go website you’ll find them there 👍🏼😁
interesting how we do not have this camper in the US....i wonder why?
Yeah we definitely build them differently in Australia
Why do you guys go a 20” rim on a 37” tyres should do like a 17 or 18” rim to let your tyres bag out more to give yourself more playing room for pressures etc
We can’t get the right offset for our stud pattern with a smaller rim. We’ve been using these rims on all our trucks and never had a problem 👍🏼
Regardless of the cost of the truck. Genuine question and I’m not trying to be a smart arse just curious
What’s the running cost on an American truck like this? I’m guessing and correct me if I’m wrong 25-30lt per 100 km towing in remote areas $2.30 to $3.00 per Lt. so at a minimum $70 per hundred ks. So for a 500km day that’s $350
Doing that week in week out would send me broke😢
hey buddy...all good. Yes 25 to 28 average with the caravan on the back. We are about 10.5t combined weight so id say that's pretty damn good. On our 210ltr tank we average anywhere from 550 to 600ks a tank. It gets very expensive when in remote areas and the diesel prices are upwards of $3 per litre. the truck on its own averages anywhere fro 14 to 18ltrs per hundred.
how can you have 6.5in lift when aus standards only allow 2in suspension 1in tyre lifts
These are classed as Trucks legally in AUS, trucks have different rules to Cars, and general std 4wd like navaras, hilux, patrols, land cruisers etc are classed as cars.
The Australian law regarding NB2 registered vehicles (vehicles with over 4.5T GVM.) states that regarding height the headlights can not exceed 1400mm in height from a flat surface. It doesn’t matter how the vehicles reaches this point the sky is the limit…
6.5” lift w/ 37’s completely legal. They could probably run 40” tyres and still be well under that 1400mm mark.
I hope the below comments answer your question ?
Hi Guys. Who do you insure your Chevy and Caravan with?
Hey, we have a private broker that looks after everything
please dont take this the wrong way But blocks added between the diff and the leaf springs?? thats looks to me like a short cut , let me know if im right or wrong , im hear to learn not to sound negative
Not taken the wrong way at all mate. This is the third truck don’t like this and it’s never been a problem. And trust me, I definitely put it through its paces
Far out it must be nice having money, your rig is worth more than my house, your spot lights are worth more than my car.
Hope you liked it…
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown Sure did!!!
As Ali G would say……..wicked! unfortunately i have ADU taste with a tyler thompson budget.
The jungle is massive 😂😂
Price??
They do not pay full Recommended Retail Price for anything, So it is pointless even telling us as we would not be able to pay that price.
A walk in off the street for this kindve car would expect to pay 350k maybe even a touch more. Canopy alone is over 100k with all that gear
Hey mate...To replace this truck you'd be looking at around the 400k mark.
Sorry but do you run our financials?
Well done. If you can afford it why not.
Thanks 🙏🏼
Just not practical to cook at that height noone wants to stand on a step to cook or get stuff out
Sounds like that could be a you problem. Definitely not a problem for us ✌🏼
@@AussieDestinationsUnknownit’s a problem for you you need a step to get in and out 🤣🤣🙄🤦🏻♂️
As I said, it’s not a problem for us 🤟🏼
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown yeah but your promoting this truck to thousands of people while promoting all your companies that it’s the best of the best. Heard you say this many times. It’s 100% a problem when you need a step… no one in there right mind can say that’s practical. Don’t tell people it’s not cause your ok with it. That’s because you’re promoting all your sponsors that did this for you and you want the “look at me look at me status 🙄🙄
@@brendanrust9275 you’ll be right buddy 👍🏼
Only need a pair of good quality lights instead of putting a lot of of lights.
we like all our lights 👊🏼
Guys that would have to be the best looking from the 3 she is fucking beautiful
Haha thanks mate 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Why do you need a 6 inch lift ?
When you see the places we go, you’ll understand why high clearance is important. But the main reason is because we like it and we can and it looks cool 😁
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown still limited by clearance between the diff and the ground, i doubt we will see you doing the actual Gunshot. So where exactly is it that your going that need 6"lift... :D
And now the height of the vehicle is a clearance issue, I’ve traveled around aus for the past 15 months and my 2 inch lift has been fine, don’t get me wrong it’s a cool truck but when you have to get on tippy toes to open your fridge you look like a flog
@@stand4807the clearance between the diff and ground is pretty high 👍🏼 and I don’t understand how gunshot has anything to do with gunshot 🤷🏽♂️
Maybe wait till you see our content being released in September and it might change your mind ✌🏼
@@jakeovermeyer6886 These days its all about my Willie is bigger than your Willie... 🤣😂😆😜
Not to be a negative Nancy here, but who the heck has that kind of money to spend on a truck.
Dont get me wrong awesome set up. But even as someone who can afford one, I just can’t justify the cost. That’s money on something that depreciates in value. Unless it’s making $ it’s costing $.
All cool for views if RUclips IS your job.
Good luck with everything. Safe travels. 🍻
We totally understand where you are coming from but just remember one thing. This is our life, we live permanently on the road travelling for a job. It’s our home and something that we rely on every single day. It needs to be setup, capable and safe for everyday living.
I hope that makes it a little clearer for you. 😁
Not something your average Joe can afford . Given the vehicle and the mods , not much change from 200K .
We’re average people 🤷🏽♂️ and if double that figure too
Overcompensating perhaps??
Haven't heard that before 😂😂😂. Definitely sounds like a you problem ✌🏼
Well people these days aren't spending money like it's going outta fashion..truck yes looks wicked.. but the normal person can't afford this.. I think this is just bragging to make people jealous... sorry that's how I see it
Mate, you clearly don’t follow Big Dog Builds or any other people who build trucks like this? BDB pump out so many builds like this that they’re booked out well in advance. And - we are normal people. No different to anyone else. We’ve worked hard, saved and now in our 40’s and 50’s have what we’ve been working towards. Your comments sounds very much like a you problem. We are travelling right now with a young family who have pretty much the same setup as us. Guess it depends on your perspective on life. We like our perspective and are quite happy with the decisions we’ve made to get us the life we’ve wanted. Have a nice day ✌🏼
I met this bloke at the goldy caravan park playing with his dirtbike, hes a champ and not like that at all,its his lifestyle and job, they travel fulltime and dont own a house, who cares if they have money and can afford it, hats off to them
Thanks mate….we come across people like this occasionally. They are probably in these positions in life because of this exact attitude.
@AussieDestinationsUnknown hi, don't get me wrong you do have a wicked truck, I'm just saying that it's hard out there these days, I mean no ill content, sorry if it came.across that way
Saying that we are bragging to make people jealous!!! How are we surposed to take it 🤦🏽♂️
To big. Unpractised. You must be towing like 6tones.
Not for us it’s not 👍🏼
I'd rather buy a house than this waste of money
Ok…✌🏼
😂😂😂 Absolutely ridiculous! Actually, pathetic is a better way to describe it!🙄
✌🏼
