She has VERY strong fundamentals, and can groove for days. She obviously gas studied with a gifted teacher, Feel is one thing and she has that in spades, but the rest was learned from a master.
Most of the drummers I know (were they to make a video) would in fact benefit significantly from the headless drummer look. Elise is a significant outlier in this respect.
Great with, very inspirational. Question: At 1:17 you mention that you usually like to keep it simple mic wise. Just curious why. You have several microphones and it seems like you would always benefit by at least adding an overhead (I feel that in this video your toms and snare were not matched sonically). Whachutink ? Thanks again, Steve 😊❤️🎶 🥁
That is a new video than the last ! Its fantastic your presentation about your studio and instruments Im fascinated to eard you again ! Thanks, Im keeping your best Admirer ! Grillo.
Why are people talking about how expensive her equipment is?? Im sure her parents helped out, but how many teens have thousands invested in video games in 6 years time? Money didnt get this, passion did.
Being good looking doesn't help you make a good video. I feel like you're really minimising how talented Elise is. This isn't "How to become popular", this is how to make a killer video.
Ur jazz playing in high school really makes u shine often and def gives u a unique sound.. Again my girl e. Slaying & super down 2 earth @ the same time.. Ughh.. That smile tho
Hey Elise, how are you going about micing your kit for looping ? Are you using a pedal on the output? I wanted to set up a drum loop without getting an electronic kit and it looks like you have it down.
Awesome vid, I can use those tips! Quick question, how is your hi hat that crisp? Mine is duller. Are you EQing it at all? Also, do you use an analog system or a purely digital one? I'm assuming digital, connected to a computer but I still feel the need to ask.
Yes I do have a question... I don't have social media except for RUclips. But when editing a video how can I make it so that you can see a video of my feet playing at the same time in the background I have a video of me playing? Do you know if not that's okay, if there is someone out there talented with video editing please let me know. I do not run Windows I run Linux, and I use an editor called openshot. Thank you for reading all of this.
You are so amazing talented girl!!! Do you have some other jazz arragement songs like "girl from Ipanema"? And by the way, thanks for your filming advices.
The 48 kHz sample rate thing isn't correct. Sample rate has nothing to do with timing. As long as your editing software is expecting the same sample rate as your audio file, it will be fine. Elise has probably encountered a situation where she has mismatched the sample rate of an audio file with the project. If the file was not converted to match the project during importing, it would have slowed down or sped up depending on the type of mismatch.
You're right, but some online codecs noticeably do worse than others at this. RUclips does absolutely fine with 44.1 KHz an other sample rates, but Instagram acts up a bit. 48 KHz is usually safest.
I've been trying to motivate myself to start doing drum videos for RUclips and you're stuff is really inspiring me right now. My goal is to have well received channel focusing on instructional drumming videos but I have a stuttering problem and it would take me a lot of reshooting and editing to get everything correct - I already tried doing a headphone review and it was a nightmare to get through. Do you think it would be a good strategy to at first just make a bunch of my best drum solo videos and then ease into the instructional stuff, or do you think the instructional stuff is what's going to get more views?
I like how you have your rack toms on a tom stand instead of mounted to the bass drum like a lot of cheaper kits do. I do the same even though my kit was one of those with the bass drum mount. Bass drums sound so much better that way.
SLAMMIN!!!💯👏👋👏💣🔥🌟💵💰💸🤑💸💰💵💎♦♠♥♣🎶🎼🎵🎤🥁🎹🎸🤹🎰🎩👑🏅You are definitely on your way to mastering your craft!!! Love your talent Love your voice & absolutely love your performances...SENSATIONALLY BREATH-TAKING!! 😍😍😉
I second the idea of covering some Carpenters-you would smash those songs and Karen Carpenter is the only one who had similar talents to yours. SO MUCH FABULOUS. If I were going to vote for one song I would probably go for either “Superstar” or “Close to you.” One more year and the entire world will be subscribing to your videos!
Alright I saw your Ipanema girl interpretation the other day and I was convinced that I had seen it all cause the voice I was hearing wasn't coming from a mortal. now I saw this and those drum licks you just shot hit me right on the chest and I am bleeding. real talk what planet/star system you from?
Elise Trouw, Wow you are sharp, Elise, when you get to Hollywood, don't forget i am still around! and you got a lot of talent.and everybody Loves you "The Girl From Ipanema"
So hey Elise,...I finally have all my analog gear hooked up 16 channel mixer etc...mix is both in headphones and in the pa system. Question being will that Presonus help me in any way ? At this time to record I use my telephone. I think though at this point my room is kicking pretty good. I am considering using the zoom q 3 hd as playback it has noise filters. I guess you might say I have what I need in my head mix or even without headphones . I would just like clean precise recording playback as well as mastering abilities. You think I should go with another mixer to bring in live musicians I probably need more vocal mics etc. or try to figure out that presonus.
Have a cameraman, have a good camera, use extra lights, shoot different angles, do color correction and good edits, have the song down to a t.. I wish I followed my own advice...
44.1 is the old standard for CDs. Video production is almost always done at 48. Depending on your DAW or editing software a sample rate mismatch may give strange results, like sped up, slowed down, or incorrectly pitched audio.
Lots of great tips. I have only a almost 6 year old Zoom Q3!- I place it off my floor tom because it sounds best.(It cuts me out but really who wants to see a 57 year old guy?LOL)It is not HD and require's alot of light. WAY too many youtube video's have close mic'ing and the result is terrible.DONT add bass to tom's! (Proximity effect add's bass already) The tom's should not be bassier (just made that word up lol) than your kick.Drum's do not sound like that.If your kit is tuned good, it should sound good with 1 or 2 mic's.Also, have you noticed people who close mic, you can never hear the hi-hat & cymbals enough.Rock on!
Elise I would be your assistant ! You have a lot of electric machines and instruments whic connected around you, it must be very interisting to know all from about ! Thanks, me. Grillo. PD: Cool Video.
There is WAY less than 7K in gear in that room my dear... way less Kit is free (she's endorsed), and let's say around 800 for cymbals and extras Lights are the cheap Chinese kind (I'm in videography so I know) say 100 bucks Camera is not that good. Basic DSLR say 500-800 bucks A basic audio interface around 600$ (or half of this for using two mics only) No soundproofing whatsoever (from what I see) Posters (free shit) The lights from last Christmas (free shit) Windows (comes with the room/house)
She forgot to mention you have to be insanely good at drums
Gorgeous doesn't hurt either
She has VERY strong fundamentals, and can groove for days. She obviously gas studied with a gifted teacher, Feel is one thing and she has that in spades, but the rest was learned from a master.
It makes me smile over how good she is at playing with drums. It's like a trance. We all get hooked to it and fall in the spell.
Most of the drummers I know (were they to make a video) would in fact benefit significantly from the headless drummer look. Elise is a significant outlier in this respect.
"I like to avoid the headless drummer"...damn, its pretty easy to say if you look like elise. :O
@Frenzied Unicorn Productions But headless guitarists are the best on RUclips
Great with, very inspirational.
Question: At 1:17 you mention that you usually like to keep it simple mic wise.
Just curious why.
You have several microphones and it seems like you would always benefit by at least adding an overhead (I feel that in this video your toms and snare were not matched sonically).
Whachutink ?
Thanks again,
Steve 😊❤️🎶 🥁
Very cool! Awesome vid, thanks!
Great video! Thank you
Cool!
I dont even play drums and I watched this
Hysterical. Me too.
she's so cute you can't stop
Great tips! So much blessing for you Elise !!!
Shes using a Presonus 1818VSL Audio interface which has some of the best AD/DA converters in a pro consumer interface.
Even more respect and appreciation for ya, trying to help and encourage other artists out there. Cheers.
Just discovered you yesterday. Your version of Ever long is so good it inspired me to do my own remix.
Killer snare fills, sounds awesome
Yes! I was like 😯 during that part of the video - which is already six years old now, too! 🤯 😄
For some reason I loved the reveal that she was actually playing to the background music :)
nice playing at the end
That is a new video than the last ! Its fantastic your presentation about your studio and instruments Im fascinated to eard you again ! Thanks, Im keeping your best Admirer ! Grillo.
Why are people talking about how expensive her equipment is?? Im sure her parents helped out, but how many teens have thousands invested in video games in 6 years time?
Money didnt get this, passion did.
Lol my yearly game budget = $60. My yearly music budget = As much as I can put towards it while still being able to eat
David Miller She probably pair it off too since she did end up paying for all her music rights again.
Money also didn’t buy her technique. Practice did.
Your covers are the bomb and it seems it would be cool to hear a reworking cover of the Carpenters by you.
Great video and work about music very clear for me ! Thanks, me. G.
does anyone know the name of that song she was covering i fucking love it
Great rhythm Elise!
TIP #1 Be incredibly gorgeous.
James Heartfield that’s the TIP #2 Be insanely talented.
Being good looking doesn't help you make a good video. I feel like you're really minimising how talented Elise is. This isn't "How to become popular", this is how to make a killer video.
The 'Be insanely talented' tip is spot on though lads.
Easy there, white knight
Totally true 😂
Great video Elise!
Rockingg drum track at the end.. Thanks for sharing ur tips.. I appreciate that..!! 😇👍👍
Thanks so much! Good to know you can record good quality audio with only two mics
Wow actually it helps me a lot i 1m just going to post a drum cover
You just record all cameras from all angles at the same time then piece them together is it hard to line up all the pieces ?
Ur jazz playing in high school really makes u shine often and def gives u a unique sound.. Again my girl e. Slaying & super down 2 earth @ the same time.. Ughh.. That smile tho
Wow, even six years ago she played the drums incredibly well! Speechless...
can somebody tell me how to add background music on drum video..?
Just saw her in concert last night, and suddenly this video appears in my RUclips feed. 😄
Hey Elise, how are you going about micing your kit for looping ? Are you using a pedal on the output? I wanted to set up a drum loop without getting an electronic kit and it looks like you have it down.
That eyebrow raising az 2:28 made my day so much better:)

You must buy cymbles too improve your own style you can't tune your cymbals and they don't get out of tune
well done!

Amazing Elise
I'm in love!!
This is so dope
What a pretty smile ! Your video was incredible at the studio, the instruments, I love your proffesion the music and all things you make! Thanks, me.
what do you record with? computer system?
I use logic pro x and final cut pro to edit everything :)
Elise Trouw Who taught you/what resources did you first begin playing with? 🥇 I admire the hard work you must've put in to learning
The 48 kHz sample rate thing isn't correct. Sample rate has nothing to do with timing. As long as your editing software is expecting the same sample rate as your audio file, it will be fine. I did not understand 6 th one pls tell
Those snare fills 🤟
Interisting...mmmm,....yèsss ! Thanks for the tour Beat, Grillo.

Amazing Young Lady.
I love how she's shy and how brave she is, 'cause she faces her shyness like a pro. ☺
0:42 😍😍😍

Sweet ToP signed poster!
So, are you going to apply to UNT's Jazz Program, as I suggested on "Hit Like a Gilr"?
Sanford Thatcher Yes! One o'clock jazz band!
Elise Trouw, Wow you are sharp, Elise, when you get to Hollywood, don't forget i am still around! and you got a lot of talent.and everybody Loves you "The Girl From Ipanema"
She's such a sweetheart
Hey cool video! Thanks for making this. But you forgot to mention using two cameras and editing like you did at the end! Otherwise perfect! Cheers!

好正
Have a cameraman, have a good camera, use extra lights, shoot different angles, do color correction and good edits, have the song down to a t.. I wish I followed my own advice...
Why do you propose just two mics even though most of your videos are made with much more advanced gear?
Gatinha
Fabulous tips from gorgeous Elise...
Sweet Shroom poster
48? I mean, 44's standard for a wav file. Would that still make my audio off from the video? I never really noticed, to be honest.
44.1 is the old standard for CDs. Video production is almost always done at 48. Depending on your DAW or editing software a sample rate mismatch may give strange results, like sped up, slowed down, or incorrectly pitched audio.
and I thought all you could do was sing. You go girl!
Does she have Dutch roots?
good khz tip

sorry but you forgot the most important one ''Playing like a killer drummer''
Fun to compare this with the videos she's making 5 years later.
Elise!!!!! Te amo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! ♥️ Dame un hijo Jajajaja definitivamente, su amor platónico
why 48khz ,are all cameras at it ?
Your be on that you know you have a fan base that "supports" you we just want the best from you sweet heart. I know you can cover WALK ON BY.
doll face
Elise I would be your assistant ! You have a lot of electric machines and instruments whic connected around you, it must be very interisting to know all from about ! Thanks, me. Grillo.
PD: Cool Video.
Well, you like to avoid the "Headless Drummer look" Because you're decent looking.
Incredible drummer though.
Tip number 8 : put a very nice girl behind your drum. And the most important , tip number 9 : take a very killer drummer !
Thanks for the tips , Very usefull! Personaly we think you ‘d better mic your tom tommies...(-;
I love you
Don’t be a hater.
Tip #1 get $7000 dollars
Hellblade is a fuckin amazing game dude.
There is WAY less than 7K in gear in that room my dear... way less
Kit is free (she's endorsed), and let's say around 800 for cymbals and extras
Lights are the cheap Chinese kind (I'm in videography so I know) say 100 bucks
Camera is not that good. Basic DSLR say 500-800 bucks
A basic audio interface around 600$ (or half of this for using two mics only)
No soundproofing whatsoever (from what I see)
Posters (free shit)
The lights from last Christmas (free shit)
Windows (comes with the room/house)
Add a 800 for the computer I guess
Now she has around 10-15K in her room, but that's a different situation with many instruments
GIVE ME TIME🤠
What if you don't own drums?
8. Most important, born good looking.
I think you're having fun.
Of course talent helps which she has a lot of.
I married A woman who's good at drums I recommend it maybe one of you thousands will have some luck.
Wise men says only fool rush in but I can't help falling i love with you...🙂🌹
