Yes, just seeing these classic films from 1970s Sesame Street, is enough to take myself back in time, to that very era. Saw this one also many a time, back in the day. And YES, hilarious song, indeed-meaningful but enjoyable and "pleasantly silly."
Haha when we were driving from Connecticut to Alaska my mom played this for me on repeat. Needless to say my dad had earplugs firmly in his ears after about the 20th time xD
Omg this brings me back, one of my favorite classic sesame street songs, I also like the water water water song, everybody sleeps, and the pigs that walked in style
I had an audio cassette of songs from Sesame Street and it had a version of this song with Elmo singing it. It’s cool to know that this songs was around probably before Elmo was!
Joe Raposo was such a great entertaniment song writer. Knew how to do songs that were well writtan and had personality for performing. I love the songs of this era. It reminds me of classic Broadway musicals. Kinda like Randy Newman as well.
The BEST thing about this video is the TITLE!!! That made me LAUGH!!! Because EVERY kid back then would refer to this clip as the "Take a BWEAFF" song!!! I remember wondering WHY the singer sounded like that!!
Yes,Ray Currie and Dream Dancer, you guys are right, there was a "cover version" of "I'm pretty" that was sung by this same person(referred to as a baby seal,on the Sesame street season 2 LP record.)
I remember when I was a kid, I would try to yawn myself when I saw that, but when this guy said "bweaff," as you put it, I'd laugh, and that really ticked me off.
I will repeat what I said to my mom as a kid: "Mom what's a gruck?" "What do you mean gruck?" "This song is saying Take a Gruck" "It's saying breath..." "No it's definitely Take a Gruck"
I also posted for the older 'Take a Bweaff' video, and am just wondering when this one goes back to. Also, who is the singer - is it Northern Calloway (David) on both of them or on just one of them? I thought it was Joe Raposo (or did he just write the lyrics for this song?)
If you pay attention, to me it kinda sounds like Adam Sandler covering his mouth singing this song. And he always does childrens music. Who did this song?
@jokezstar When I was a kid I sometimes worried that the air in the world would run out after a while...funny the things you worry about as a child. Of course, I used to worry about the Bomb, too

I don't have the everybody eats/sleeps Raposo songs, but "Love being a pig" is already on youtube: ruclips.net/video/s2BU1P2THgQ/видео.html&search=love%20pig%20sesame%20street
bsneneneneje said the 30th wouldn't work for me but I don't think it would be excited about that with dude mom told me the kids wear ima dress up the last kids here size and all the time I see it she just got kids and I need to get a chance to win a game and I need to get a

Take a listen to boots randolph bongo band and see if u can hear the similarities between these two arrangements. I think joe raposo borrowed some bars as well as the cuban style for his song
He's saying: "Take a breath, smell smell, sniff sniff"... but with a mouth full of marbles and a heavy nasal voice. That's why it is written "bweaff" instead of "breath"...

this song is form my childhood and pops into my head every so often...
solid advice...
That’s Great
I am so glad I'm not the only one who heard it as "bweaff."
DreamDancer82 right!! Thought I was the only one
Cracked me up as a kid. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think it was part of the laugh.
I haven't heard this in 35 years at least! Thank you.

This is not the version you're thinking of... and I, among many others have no idea which season or which year this version is from.
This song still makes me crack up
Take a bueff.
Haha when we were driving from Connecticut to Alaska my mom played this for me on repeat. Needless to say my dad had earplugs firmly in his ears after about the 20th time xD

We meet again old friend 😊🥰 i remember my Sesame Street Childhood and it brought smile on my face
this is one that will always be stuck in my head haha Love It!
I loved this as a child. Thank you.
I had an audio cassette of songs from Sesame Street and it had a version of this song with Elmo singing it. It’s cool to know that this songs was around probably before Elmo was!
Takes me back... :)
Thanks 4 the memories.
Yay! I was brought up with this : ) And the Earthworm song and C is for cookie : )
I love this song. This was one of the things I liked on Sesame Street as a little kid, one of the many parts of the show that DIDN'T scare me!
LOL!!! It really DOES sound like "Take a bweaff!" This is one of my all time favorites!
"So take a good deep bweaff!"
*pantpant*
"That's better!"
Joe Raposo was such a great entertaniment song writer. Knew how to do songs that were well writtan and had personality for performing. I love the songs of this era. It reminds me of classic Broadway musicals. Kinda like Randy Newman as well.
Wow...I feel so old now.
Since that one was Joe Raposo who sang that, anybody got Run, Run, Everybody Run and Touch Hold Feel? Those were Joe Raposo's songs, too.
Sweet song. One of my favourite Joe Raposo songs for Sesame Street.
The BEST thing about this video is the TITLE!!! That made me LAUGH!!! Because EVERY kid back then would refer to this clip as the "Take a BWEAFF" song!!! I remember wondering WHY the singer sounded like that!!
That song ROCKS!
It's the same "Droopy-ish" voice that sang "I'm Pretty" from the Sesame Street 2 Album, as a baby seal.
"I'm Pretty" was sung by Norman Calloway (David).
There was another version with a baby seal.
Yes,Ray Currie and Dream Dancer, you guys are right, there was a "cover version" of "I'm pretty" that was sung by this same person(referred to as a baby seal,on the Sesame street season 2 LP record.)
BuddyBoy600alt Northern, not Norman.
My music teacher showed me this I like it a lot
I first thought he was saying take a bleff, and to this day, I always associate the song with sniffing coffee.
I remember when I was a kid, I would try to yawn myself when I saw that, but when this guy said "bweaff," as you put it, I'd laugh, and that really ticked me off.
I agree with everyone who said how much they love this song! The parrot looks as if he's singing along!
now showed my 19yr old this 💃🏾👃🏾
takes me bwack...
I so wish someone would post it too!!
Raposo was great, also check out Long Hard Climb with the chameleon,it's a hoot, you'll instantly remember it when the song begins.
awesome! does anyone remember Hard Workin Dog? It was a song about a cowdog.

0:57 Awww. I see an owner’s pet bunny taking a breath while his owner is holding her right in her arms
Sounds like Droopy singing. Lol.
There was an older version of it, with different scenes, I know that, but I don't have it, and I don't know if anyone else has it.
Still a better song than Wrecking Ball
All Sesame Street songs are...
And yes, even Sesame Street’s 1D collab “What Makes U Useful”.
The singer is Joe Raposo.
Thanks for the memories! The music has a Latin beat
0:55 Alice the Aardvark takes breaths just like this Aardvark here.
0:23 I never knew Polar Bears breathe.
If you ask my friend Stinky the Skunk
His buddy Jake the Polar Bear takes breaths too.
That walrus totally rocks his whiskers!
That's Joe Raposo singing, BTW, a very talented writer/singer from the show who died too young (just like Jim Henson). Great video!
This is an updated 90's version.I have the origional version.I'll post it when I can.
Do you know the approximate year of this version?
Bweath: Translated from New York language: Breath.
Raposo was just wonderul, eh ?? great post !! Thanx !1
take a breff! weee haha love it!
I Love That Version Better Than The Old One

You also thought it was Yanni instead of Laurel, huh? Lol
I also posted for the older 'Take a Bweaff' video, and am just wondering when this one goes back to. Also, who is the singer - is it Northern Calloway (David) on both of them or on just one of them? I thought it was Joe Raposo (or did he just write the lyrics for this song?)

I always thought the voice was a Jerry Lewis parody,I can still remember the tune at 40!
That sounds like Northern Calloway pinching his cheek on his face while singing
I couldn't agree with you more.
@jokezstar When I was a kid I sometimes worried that the air in the world would run out after a while...funny the things you worry about as a child. Of course, I used to worry about the Bomb, too
noggin is full and the next day of breakfast begins to noggin and of out
Wasn't there another version of this video? It's hard to find!
I've never seen that Long Hard Climb clip. I'd love to check it out but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone have it?

You are now bweeffing manually.

LMFAO
Hi Elmo (I kid you not, he kinda does sound like Elmo if he were an adult)!
0:36 How Do Walruses Breathe?
"Take a queef,smell a smell take queef"
This is what kids need today things they can learn from, not just video games with killing and blood.
So they are so stupid that they need this song to tell them to breathe? Too stupid to know that breathing keeps them alive as well?
Take a toke. Take a toke. Smell a smell, sniff a sniff, snort a line.
Thanks for teaching me to breathe, sesame street.

Thanks TinyDancer, I thought that was Joe Raposo!
@cjk247 So does the person posting who claims that.
take a breath!!!
In this song, Joe Raposo sounds either like Bill Thompson or Buddy Hackett!
Mr. Smee?
this makes me appreciate breathing so much... but then i cant stop thinking about the fact i have to breath... and then it annoys me
0:13 How Fo Parrots Breathe?
WTH is Droopy doing singing on Sesame Street?
hell yea!
@Trund27 I was too little to remember :)
does anyone remember the one of a girl taking her llama to a dentist?
