Stephen's videos are an inspiration to many, including me, and no matter how much "better" other people's videos get, he will always be the first prolific graphic score creator. No one can take that away from him.
I'll add it to the request list. I only have one piece from Miroirs sequenced and ready to be rendered, so I've been putting it off until I get them all done.
He asked about how I was making the videos a long time ago, and I've sent him messages since then that he has responded to. I have no idea what he would think of doing a collaboration, though. I do not even know how our videos could be combined, effectively. It would probably be confusing to have both videos visible at the same time. I might be able map his video onto a texture, though. Maybe wrap it around the cylinder?
Well, well, what do you know?!! Stephen agreed to a collaboration!!! He's asked that I send him a list of potential pieces for him to pick one. Any suggestions?
I already e-mailed him. His reply didn't make it sound like he was all that interested. We'll see. The Goldberg Variation videos I've been working on are all non-MIDI. Anything is possible live if you spend enough time on it.
Well aside from that, I think you should do a collaboration with him. Like... a double-visualization. It would be quite interesting to see your animation; with the notes coming at you... and his; with the notes scrolling to the right. Maybe you could try incorporating your animation with real performances (other than piano). It would be quite interesting and you would probably get many RUclips hits from it! This is just an idea... of course. You two have contact, right?
+andy fillebrown you definitely need to do Scrabo. But please use this version of the program where the notes appear on the circle not the other one where there is no circle
Yeah I just emailed him, though I accidentally pressed the send button when I had typed; "I'm very mesmerized in you"... I meant "mesmerized in your work".... That was very, very embarrassing... Just thinking about it... If you two were to have a live performance in the United States, I would probably be able to go to it. :3 Though I'm only 13, I bet the rest of my family would want to go as well, especially my mom; who has played piano since she was about 10.
The only problem I have with this is deciding whether it can be played on a real piano or not. If you would post this peace actually on a piano I would be hella impressed :)
Yeah, that might work. Possibly, Stephen's animation could be in the center, since your's is already empty in the middle... though that would block the notes in the back that are coming up on your's. Maybe even just put each of your animations on separate sides of the video... Find a piece that would work for both of you. And do you think your animation could be done with live performances or non-MIDI? Well I'll email Stephen and just see what he thinks... I won't set anything up. ;)
Now wait a minute... Stephan might not do Ravel, but he does other music. At least his music is played by real people, not MIDI... Well, at least its fair quality MIDI. And don't judge people by their looks... he's old. He knows he's old. One day, we'll all be old too... if not already. And don't get me wrong, both of these music visualizers are amazing. ;)
Whoa, this is unbelievably fascinating. Andy, do you know how many notes there are in this song? I wonder if the midi file or the blender animation gives you a count of individual "points" (which would translate to individual notes, of course).

Very beautiful and visceral experience with the graphic animation.
wow. what a beautiful and hypnotizing song.
+SomeDudeOnline It's is not a song. It is a piece. In song poeple are singing stuff.
Alexander Lasar Correct, I've been called out on this since and no longer refer to pieces as songs.

+Alexander Lasar Here's a couple of examples of songs without people singing stuff =)
I just adore your musical sculptures, Andy, keep up the awesome work, man! :)
Love the visual effect and the music!
Fantastic! Best rendition I've heard so far. Just at the right tempo. :)
04:39 j'ai des frissons à chaque fois :)
aucun pianiste ne joue ce passage aussi bien.
the ending is just dreamy !!

I never heard before amazing rhythm preservation between parts on 0:28 . simple and genius
LOVE the way the midi file "plays" 3:44
Totally agree. Also you of the best parts of the songs imo.
So cool.
Lovely. It's very mesmerizing.
Can you put up Ravel: Alborada del Gracioso
Thanks for the music. You're my new smalin; better looking and better taste in music :)

Wow! I'm surprised he agreed! Well, you both have Bach in common. And I have a crazy idea... I'll message you

Could you put Scarbo and Une Sur L'Ocean on this program? I know Bernd Krueger did Scarbo, but I don't think he did Une Barque sur L'Ocean
Sevrin Beard Ya sure!

+6695John13 The notes will be back soon. Many people have requested their return! Stay tuned!

i like this :)
My playing is awful but that doesn't mean it's not playable. Take a look at this performance -- watch?v=J_36x1_LKgg

nice and yet beauty, but never like a human heart.
0:40 to 0:51 sounds vaugely horror-esque or is it just me?

heh ya the notes could be counted in the MIDI file pretty easily
