  • This patch is something of a happy accident! I sat down with quite a clear idea of what I wanted to try out, something with both Crave and modular that might make another video. But as soon as I patched the first voice (Beehive) up roughly I liked it so much I wanted to record just that! So after a bit of tweaking and modulation here's the result =D
    My lava lamp is back in the shot for the first video in a while as well xD
    I really hope you enjoy, thank you so much for watching =D
    Patch Notes:
    Recorded with Behringer UMC-202HD interface into DAW.
    Modules:
    Behringer CP1-a power supply
    Micro Ornament and Crime (Benisphere firmware)
    After Later Audio Baker (MI Peaks clone)
    After Later Audio Beehive (MI Plaits clone)
    Tenderfoot Electronics SVF-1 filter
    After Later Audio Monsoon (MI Clouds clone)
    Instruo Ochd
    4ms Listen 4
    Ornament and Crime is sequencing using the TB-3PO applet. Sending pitch and trigs to Beehive.
    Baker is in Tap LFO mode with a random shape. Channel 1 is modulating note density on TB-3PO, and channel 2 is modulating the diffusion on Monsoon, to move the delay signal around the stereo field.
    Beehive is in the 2nd green mode, with both Timbre and Morph being modulated by Ochd. Audio is going through SVF-1 into Monsoon.
    SVF-1's lowpass output is patched. There's a bit of resonance and the cuttoff is being modulated by Ochd.
    Monsoon is in delay mode, with the shortest buffer size to give a reasonably fast delay. Lots of reverb and feedback (repeats) but no modulation other than the diffusion (density slider).
    Ochd is doing it's usual modulation goodness =D
    Listen 4 is outputting into my audio interface. In the DAW there's a little bit of stereo widening, saturation and limiting for audio levels.

      Yeah it's such an awesome module =D It can get even more interesting as well with CV control for rate I haven't really played with that yet. Glad you like the track =D thank you!

    Lovely stuff! Reminded me of Roy Montgomery’s Scenes from the South Island:) How do you like the ALA Baker?

    • @Not_A_Creative
      @Not_A_Creative  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you!! I hadn't heard Scenes from the South Island before so just gave it a listen and loved it =D
      Honestly Baker is one of my favourite modules, I almost bought 2 of them! It's so versatile for only 6HP. I know Mutable Instruments clones are sometimes criticised but I love ALAs redesign of Peaks, the CV control is fantastic and all 2HP less. If you've got the rack space Rainier is probably more ergonomic, but in a small case like this I think Baker is a nice inbetween of Rainier and Piques. Plus the knobs are the same as Beehive so fits nicely. And with the Dead Man's Catch firmware there's SO many functions. But you can also just use the simple base Peaks modes without any 'menu' diving. =D

      Thanks a lot for that! I'm glad you checked out Roy Montgomery - Scenes from the South Island is an under appreciated NZ gem. The ALA Baker looks great! Looks like a great solution for the small 4ms pod I am building for live gigs. I have been dabbling in solo modular stuff and primitive video editing. Please check it out if you have a moment below. Once again, really enjoyed your music and will check out the other videos on your channel. All the best ruclips.net/video/xpy8L1uN6S0/видео.html@@Not_A_Creative

    Not to sound dumb but is that machine playing all of that music itself (I don’t understand synth)?

    • @Not_A_Creative
      @Not_A_Creative  5 месяцев назад +1

      It's not dumb at all! Modular synths can be particularly confusing.
      Yes all the sound is coming from the synth. It's broken up into individual modules that are each doing something different. From left to right they're doing:
      Sequencing (which is creating random patterns of notes within a scale)
      Modulation (which is changing the pattern of notes on the sequencer and varying the FX sound)
      Sound Source (which is creating the base sound)
      Filtering (Cutting out some of the frequencies of the sound)
      Effects (Which is doing delay and reverb)
      Modulation again (changing the sound and filter settings)
      Output (which sets the levels for going to my audio interface)
      It's all running by itself which is why I've called it Generative music. There's a few different definitions, but one analogy I like is that it's like gardening. You plant the seeds but then the plants grow by themselves. Like here, I've chosen the scale, the types of sounds and how far I want them to change. But then the system slowly evolves on its own.
      Hope that's helpful =D

      Behringer PSU - $80
      Ornament & Crime - $250
      Baker (Peaks Clone) - $150
      Beehive (Plaits Clone) - $225
      Tenderfoot SVF1 - $200
      Monsoon - $200
      Ochd - $220
      Listen 4 - $210
      Case ~ $100ish
      so, you're already in $1,600 bucks here.

      That MOOG 60 case, if powered (probably is), is 300 bux.

    • @andycook7220
      @andycook7220 11 месяцев назад

      @@eddievanheinous666 Well....if you consider the Behringer PSU that wouldn't make any sense. Safer to assume its a Behringer case probably - at the very least the unpowered MOOG case.

    • @eddievanheinous666
      @eddievanheinous666 11 месяцев назад

      @@andycook7220 You might be correct - I don't have the moog case (and admittedly am not a Eurorack master), but isn't the difference the bus board?
