I love that the writers paid enough attention to the characters to have Daphne accurately list all of Niles’ previously established allergies.

Ronnie, their babysitter when they were kids, told Niles stories about insects and critters everywhere that would get to him, so he ended up wiping chairs and everything out of the fear.

    • @greencello599

Niles was actually created as a character to show a difference between himself and Frasier. One of the show creators said Niles was what Frasier would've been like professionally if he didn't leave Seattle for Boston. He wouldn't have met the gang at Cheers, met and almost married Diane, met and married Lilith and had Frederick, and Frasier wouldn't have had the friendships he made with Sam and the others at Cheers. Niles stayed in Seattle and had his practice. He married Maris and dealt with her insecurities until it was too much for the both of them. Maris eventually got in trouble with the law. Niles married two more times, divorcing Mel and finding happiness with Daphne. Sheldon is a narcissist. He can't take care of himself when he's ill and practically demands everyone else's attention, despite what they are doing. He may be intelligent, but he doesn't recognize anyone else for their achievements. He also spends too much time in the fantasy world in his head. In my view, Sheldon is an intelligent idiot. The Crane brothers were funny.

    • @greencello599

Niles was more of an adult than Sheldon when he was a kid. Niles also knew when to admit that he was wrong.

OMG, I'm the female version of Niles. For real. I have Celiac disease, which means I legitimately cannot eat gluten. I found out while refinishing some pine dressers that I am allergic to pine wood. I have an allergy to ragweed, walnuts, dust, and grass. (My mom was literally allergic to dirt, so I guess I'm lucky). Also, my body's autonomic system and central nervous system are flawed. This means that my body cannot regulate its own temperature, my blood pressure spikes and falls when I sit or lay down which makes me dizzy and nauseous and my skin on my face and arms often break out into a rash while also becoming flush and so hot even to the touch. This is not too hard to manage. But, my blood pressure is also highly unstable when walking causing me to lose my balance quite easily. I break out into a hysterical itchy rash every time I shower. No one knows why, however. And, I have a weird condition, Raynauds Phenomenon, which makes my extremities (fingers, toes, sadly nipples) highly responsive to the cold. Like I can't pull most things out of the freezer and wear thick hiking socks year-round. And, as a child, I could not wear new clothes without washing them multiple times because my skin would become so irritated that it would crack and bleed. It was suggested that I was allergic to clothing dye. Eventually, one of my slightly younger cousins had to break my new clothes in for me. Or, I would wear hand-me-downs.
Despite all of this, I am really sturdy in other ways. For example, I was helping a friend deep clean her apartment (BTW I can inhale bleach and most cleaning products for hours and am just fine!) when a flash fire broke out. My friend immediately ran out of the apartment. But, I felt like I needed to get her two cats out of the burning apartment along with me. They were both big, orange cats and I couldn't hold them both and get them through the apartment. I didn't want to take one at a time just in case I couldn't come back into the apartment to retrieve the other cat. Long story short, I was in that engulfed fire for roughly 20 minutes and by the time I made it to exit the apartment, the doorway out was completely covered in flames. Two guys from the neighborhood (this was in Brooklyn, NY) ran into the blaze to get me out. They put me between them and we ran out. By this time, I had to tie my t-shirt around my mouth to breathe because of the heavy acrid, black smoke. I was perfectly fine. Not a single burn, and no smoke inhalation issues which is only more creepy because my friend who left immediately had 3rd degree burns all over her legs. She had to have surgery, skin grafts and was in the hospital for 2 months with another month for in-patient rehabilitation. I saw her through most of it because I felt so guilty. The EMT's and ER doctors were all baffled as to why I hadn't sustained a single injury and nary a scratch. Maybe God is a cat and protected me whilst I was protecting those two kitties. The cats were absolutely fine too, btw. Maybe there are cat angels. I don't know what happened. I don't know how I didn't become dizzy or overheated and pass out like usual. Oddly, I felt amazing that day. Kinda like me and my body were in love for the first time ever.

Nature has a way of compensating people - you have obviously been granted a Superpower when encountering fire. Now that Big Pfarma has seen fit to mess with our DNA, an upgrade to our operating system, have you thought about switching yourself off and (quickly!) back on again?
