OMG I had no idea they reformulated it so many times. It all makes sense now! I thought I was the only one noticing that it wasn't as effective as before. I now use the NEOGEN micro ferment essence and I really like that one!
This was so informative Odile! I love the MISSHA Time Revolution Essence. It's one of my favorite skincare products. Now I wonder how good the original must have been. I don't know why brands tend to change their products when their customers are obviously loving them. Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it 🙏 I think after Clean Beauty started to really gain momentum, many brands felt pressured to reformulate their products to exclude certain ingredients that are often unfairly demonised. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that now beauty companies are taking into consideration customers with sensitive skin, but I also feel like the Clean Beauty movement is based on cheap scaremongering not backed up by science.
I love my Missha Time Revolution Essence, even though it's the latest edition (never tried any of the previous versions). And I love your videos! They are so informative; they have the right level of nerdiness for my amateur interest in k beauty. ❤️

I used to use the Missha BB creams in my teens, but now in my 30s I decided to check them out again for skincare. I just ordered the entire Artemisia collection as I'm oily, acne-prone, and tend to be a bit more red.
Thank you for making this clips. Now I can make a more informed decision when trying new products. I have heard a lot of good reviews about Missha First Essence but most of them are from about a year ago so I now will be getting a different product. Still worth a try but just nice to know. I will definitely try the red algae now. And I am looking forward for more clips from you! 😀
I fell in love with kbeauty after tried Missha 3rd gen (moist), I gave it a shot after no positive response from SK II on my skin (imagine all my money went for nothing #cry). Amazingly, after one botle I found my skin absorbs next products well and my skin color become even and plump. The rest is history, now I always stock up missha fte and tried kbeauty products to complement my j-beauty products
I can definitely relate 😁 The first release was the first product when I visited Korea the first time and there was no turning back after that. In hindsight I'm very happy I never gave up to the hype surrounding the SK II essence, I can imagine the frustration you felt after spending all that money!

Very very informative. I have the previous version of first treatment essence and the Artemisia essence. I looovvve them. I will get the Red one now. Unfortunatly i can't try the 3 last essence cause they have alcohol and fragances. I must say that i can have fragances on my skincare but i prefer to avoid alcohol as much as i can....

Though I've discovered your channel very recently, I've been loving your content so far and think I'm already a fan :) I love the fte (even the latest version) and the artemisia line, and I've been thinking of trying the Misa Geum Sul First Essence Booster. I'm curious about your thoughts on that product and also the much-hyped Vitalizing Eye Cream from the same line ^^
The Geum Sul eye cream is actually one of the only 2 eye creams I always recommend to everyone 😆 (the other one being the Real Eye Cream For Face franchise by AHC). Usually eye creams are just overpriced moisturisers, but the Geum Sul was the first eye cream I used that made me say "This is actually doing something!". It's crazy good and it's probably the only cream that made a difference for my (not so dark, admittedly!) dark circles. The booster is an excellent budget alternative for Sulwhasoo's First Care Activating Serum 😊
I think Manyo's Bifida Biome Ampoule Toner could be a good replacement for the original FTE, but I'm at a stage of my life when I need something more rich/nourishing. My top 3 essences of all time are Donginbi's 1899 Single Essence, Sum37's Secret Essence and History of Whoo's Bichup Essence 😊

Thank you 😌😌 I think the Homme essence is a great product to balance sebum production and keep breakouts at bay. My partner's skin is similar to yours and they really enjoyed the Homme essence, I personally found it too stripping because my skin is thin, ultra dry and doesn't like BHAs. It's a shame Missha markets that essence only to men, many people are not aware that it's actually designed for combination/oily skin types! Hope that helps! Yes they relaunched the whole Time Revolution franchise in Korea two months ago, I didn't get the newest version of the essence because of the same reason I mentioned in this video - they keep increasing the quantity of the Yeast Extract (which is great), but they keep decreasing supporting ingredients that enhanced the absorption of the first versions of the product so I'm not really interested in trying out the new version tbh... maybe I'll get a sample and change my mind at some point but for now I'm going to skip.

Hello! The "First Treatment" Essences (the first 4 products in this video) are meant to be used straight after cleansing and they replace the function of a toner. Since the other 3 have a multifunctional formula, they can be used both in place of a toner or after a toner, depending on your preference.

I'm personally a big fan of sum:37, I haven't tried all their essences but their Secret Essence and their Losec Summa Essence especially, are fantastic products. I purchased a new bottle of the Losec Summa Essence just last month, it's probably one the best anti-aging essences out there. In terms of feeling on the skin / properties, both the Losec Summa and the Secret Essence are similar to Missha's Regenerating Royal Essence in this video, meaning they have a thicker formula for skin that needs that "extra" help 😁 Having said that, I personally that the essences from sum37 are absorbed better and they're overall more firming/lifting than the essences in this video. I think the Missha essences work better for layering, the sum37 essences could easily be used as standalone products. Hope that helps! One extra tip as someone who buys expensive LG brands all the time, buy the gift sets immediately after the holiday seasons, you'll get more products for less $$$$ 😎
Red Algae is an ingredient that is rich in many vitamins, including vitamin C and vitamin E (which stabilizes and boosts the effects of vitamin C), so yeah this essence has also a brightening effect. Obviously, I wouldn't compare it to a serum with a high concentration of pure vitamin C, but it's a good product if you're looking for a gentle formula to brighten dull and lackluster skin.
@@OdileMonodTheMonodist The original fte, does it contain sake..? Between these two, original fte & red algae, which one do you prefer for brighten and even out skin tone..?
@@atiqahyusof735 All the ingredients are listed in the box on the LHS, so there shouldn't be any sake in the FTE. The latest reformulations of the FTE didn't do much for skin tbh, I personally find the Red Algae essence is a lot more revitalising / brightening than the FTE. Hope this helps ^^
To be honest I'm a little bit confused about skincare steps and products. As I'm not from Asia I can't fully understand what is essence and what it should do for my skin. And what is the difference between serum and ampoule? I have no idea how to layer it all.
I know that an essence is more concentrated than a serum. when I used them I would literally skip using serums, because essences are so concentrated that you'll notice results in a few weeks. I don't know much about ampoules though
Niacinamide doesn't interact with vitamin C. In fact many vitamin C serums already contain Niacinamide in them, it's a myth started by The Ordinary and debunked by several experts (just to mention one labmuffin.com/ultimate-guide-to-vitamin-c-skincare-part-1-ascorbic-acid-with-video/). Niacinamide doesn't interact with any actives.
Yes it's just an antioxidant essence so its anti-aging properties are simply preventive. But in case you still struggle with redness and irritation, I'd personally go for the Artemisia essence.

If it's just an occasional thing maybe not. The Artemisia essence is more targeted for redness / irritation, the Red Algae essence is also quite soothing, but not as much as the Artemisia one, so if irritation is not a major issue, that could be enough!
Love your review of Missha, which one in your opinion of this list is more compatible to sk2? The 3rd generation helps me with brightening and pore.. im 40 and my pores r huge 😆

It has a VERY subtle seaside smell, but it’s almost imperceptible.
The 2019 FTE did not agree with my skin . For some reason it made my skin very dry .

Do you think the red algae can also help to brighten the skin..?
Red Algae is an ingredient that is rich in many vitamins, including vitamin C and vitamin E (which stabilizes and boosts the effects of vitamin C), so yeah this essence has also a brightening effect. Obviously, I wouldn't compare it to a serum with a high concentration of pure vitamin C, but it's a good product if you're looking for a gentle formula to brighten dull and lackluster skin.
@@OdileMonodTheMonodist The original fte, does it contain sake..? Between these two, original fte & red algae, which one do you prefer for brighten and even out skin tone..?
@@atiqahyusof735 All the ingredients are listed in the box on the LHS, so there shouldn't be any sake in the FTE. The latest reformulations of the FTE didn't do much for skin tbh, I personally find the Red Algae essence is a lot more revitalising / brightening than the FTE. Hope this helps ^^

To be honest I'm a little bit confused about skincare steps and products. As I'm not from Asia I can't fully understand what is essence and what it should do for my skin. And what is the difference between serum and ampoule? I have no idea how to layer it all.
I know that an essence is more concentrated than a serum. when I used them I would literally skip using serums, because essences are so concentrated that you'll notice results in a few weeks. I don't know much about ampoules though

Niacinamide doesn't interact with vitamin C. In fact many vitamin C serums already contain Niacinamide in them, it's a myth started by The Ordinary and debunked by several experts (just to mention one labmuffin.com/ultimate-guide-to-vitamin-c-skincare-part-1-ascorbic-acid-with-video/). Niacinamide doesn't interact with any actives.

Yes it's just an antioxidant essence so its anti-aging properties are simply preventive. But in case you still struggle with redness and irritation, I'd personally go for the Artemisia essence.

If it's just an occasional thing maybe not. The Artemisia essence is more targeted for redness / irritation, the Red Algae essence is also quite soothing, but not as much as the Artemisia one, so if irritation is not a major issue, that could be enough!
WHY do they think we need fragrance? The last 2 were amazing until I saw fragrance and alcohol . Moving on to another company 🙄

Definitely the classic one! Even with all the reformulations, the star ingredient is still the same as the one in SK2 👌
