- PhoneArena reviews the HTC Radar. Windows Phone 7 kicked things off to a mixed start. Despite critical acclaim, Microsoft, hardware manufacturers and vendors were under-whelmed by its lack of consumer uptake. So while the platform has definitely fared better than, say, WebOS, it's certainly left the bottom line a bit thin on the ground. An updated OS, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango should however rejuvenate interest, as should a new array of handsets. HTC are the first off the mark with two shiny new devices. The first of these Taiwanese Mango delights comes in the form of the HTC Radar, a 3.8" device with a WVGA S-LCD display ...

love how you can link all your same contacts from diff sources (outlook, twitter, facebook, etc.) into just 1 phone contact. also love how u can look at all history for 1 contact - phone calls, test, email, facebook posts, etc. really, really pleased and good indeed
Great timing when you mentioned the camera; you heard the shutter sound at the same time! ;-)
im in love with Windows Phone 7! I have the Samsung Focus and I really like it!
The color is not white. That's so cool!
Love this phone! I will forever be a Windows Phone Fanboy
I don't know if I should just get this or wait for the Lumia 800.
I just like the design of the lumia and the 16gb of storage.
holy crap, i didnt see any lag at all. good job windows.
Lumia, absolutely. Which Lumia are you considering? Mozart is old, and Lumia looks good.
@cKlutcHJ21 Phone has specific hardware requirements, and is all GPU accelerated. Windows on PC is designed to run on pretty much everything.
@originalkanczy - i think you could increase the capacity by put in the SD card, no?
Hi phoneArena, does this 7.5 mango consume a lot of data transfer? I have heard that it syncs to certain site to updates the status, like facebook.
Hm, seems cool, played with it at the store before getting the L800
that butterfinger ad was histarical
@MrMurder96 with blackberries you need a special web plan than normal phones i was wondering if this phone does too since its a windows phone
@timmyyong91 me too, i don't know if i should wait. But they say the Lumia won't come to the US until 2012. :(
Love your reviews, they are very informative and almost 100% useful rather being rubbish and boring like other reviews by other reviewers :)
Radar seems like an uglier Mozart
Yes its a Windows PHONE! The HTC HD2 is a Windows MOBILE originally! Two huge differences, go do your research.
Why do you have a black HTC? I saw it on Amazon and I'm just curious if its the exact same as the White HTC Radar.
Oh and when you spoke about threaded message you showed threated email. Threading messaging is a completely different thing!
I really really like this review, seems like a really really good phone with a very very good construction
This phone is better then that 2 phones you mention.
@lilpackerfreak Yeah. I can't wait any longer so decided to go with the Radar, just hope I don't regret it :P But on the brightside the Radar has a front facing camera and a metal body :)
@smokinparadice sadly, no. wp7 is a completely closed OS, just like the iOS :(
What would you recommend between the Lumia 710, HTC Radar and Omnia W?
Well the HD2 is not 'officially' a Windows Phone. Phone hackers ported Windows Phone to it and the HD2 is Flash capable hardware-wise. Hope it helps, I have a Dell Venue Pro which doesn't have Flash support at first I though it would be a big deal but now that I've had it for a few months it really doesn't matter to me.
@SuperFatShark i own a desire s and im happy to say im very satisfied...problem with radar is it doesnt support micro sd card and cant remove the battery...so if your battery dies..you cant pop in your spare one....and android is really nice to use..i suggest you buy the desire s :)
@Mouthmusician Don't see why they couldn't, they may compete in some areas but are partners in many others, if that were the case Sony wouldn't use Windows on PC.
Is the texting keyboard easier to use than the iphones?
I wonder if ever sony jump on board with doing a W7 phones dispite it including the xbox platform their competition? It'll be cool they have ps3 and xbox platform under one phone.
3.8" screen, not 3.7"..... @ 1:19
geting one soon
Where can I buy the silver one in the states?
@rafaboy1 HTC Radar Definatly , with a close second fron Lumia 710
hi phone arena i wan to know whether the battery is it removable?
Does this phone have a low brightness setting, and is the battery better than most smartphones? :)
do you need a special thing to have this phone? it is windows not a normal android so im just wondering because i want to buy it off ebay
Sony Xperia U or HTC Radar!!! Help me decide please, thanks!
Whats the battery life like on this? Hope its better than my Galaxy Note.
@XD0777 Yes and you can use it as a Wi-Fi hotspot. @DmoneyDizzy6 Yes, yes, and no to the full Xbox 360 games. Arcade games and app games yes, though.
Can u download apps? If u can, will it become blocks on ur homepage? And what is the Xbox Live block for? can u play ur xbox 360 games on it?
Sorry for all the questions lol :)
still mango doesn't support USSD codes.. hope it does on WP8
Hey, how's the battery life on 3g/hsdpa stand by?
I have no cool color gradient on the music and video hub title, why? :(
The phones camera can focus well, yours on the other hand ....
Is just me or did he just forget to mention about the front camera?
Does it have front facing camera?
anyone know if the HTC titan windows phone 7.5 is coming to u.s.? and when?
first! yep im preventing trolling people from fighting over First place...
anyways: nice review! i really enjoy listening to your voice.. the video was complete and clear
@leonelcarbonero windows phone 6.5 is open like android, windows phone 7 isnt.
the only, and I mean ONLY problem I have with the phone is the 8 gig storage... I would need to keep my iPod for music, which isn't very convenient
It doesn't matter, take it up with them they'll say just what I have.
@wyattearp88 probably not because he said it's a unibody
Does this have a notification light
Why do you keep bringing up copy and paste when the NoDo update brought that to all phone in Q1 2011
HTC Radar or HTC Titan ? who's better ?
Android should work on getting it smoooooooth like that. :D
ur radar might be faulty.. i had to get a replacement from tmo cuz internet would stop working randomly and id end up having to restart phone to get it back.. no probs with my rep phone.. and im always holding the bottom havent noticed much of a difference with signal.. but thats just me.
UUgh!! i wanted the black HTC radar...-.- i got stuck with the white one which get dirty easily...
Who has stocks? Surely that isn't an important feature.
Where's the "nevertheless" guy ???
@homeboy9948
its one of the best apparently
CAPS LOCK A LOT ?
is it possible for files transfer?
this review was "really really" good!!
@TheStaticBass If you try it you'll see it's anything but.
@rochedo27 It does yes
where's the "good indeed" guy?
@Sutagivan it does not
no flash support?. kbye..
can i watch videos online i didnt really understand when he said it good video though
200.000 apps in Windows phone store :)
is there RUclips on This phone??
are there no good reviews in phonarena anymore?
Windows Phone 6.5, not 7. They are very different.
@sHaHiN00786 amoled htc?
horrible viewing angle notice when he is going to landscape mode :D
As powerful android devises are why can they be smooth like windows phones? But I like my android
yes,
Radar or Nokia Lumia 710?
this one or the lumia710
@sHaHiN00786 As far as I know this phone doesn't have amoled screen.
Comparing to Samsung focus flash i.e. 0.99 cents for amoled screen, 1.4gig processor, HTC radar is over priced. I will get one if it is free otherwise a first generation specs with second generation handset with hundred dollar is way too much.
@sHaHiN00786 Loll thats the main problem with HTC, their screens are dim. But bro if they have Super Amoled one day, their battery sucks so much it will drain even faster!
wow, big pixels.
What about playing games on this device???????!!!!!!!!
Display is 3.8 not 3.7
00:53 Thats What She Said
This or android?
aroung 6gb usable
Looks like they gutted out some Nexus Ones
lol Thanks, got Sony Xperia U though, great phone!
Android OS i have try, its too power consuming, win 7 looks smoother i think HTC without a removable battery and a micro sd card turn me off from buying, initially i might go for nokia lumia 710, though not having a micro sd slot but at least they have a removable battery.
@clubhappybest justify why its terrible before a troll gets mad at you. if ya don't you get labeled as a "fan boy"
Looks similar to nexus one
its 3.8 inch !!
yea
I might be going wind mobile...sorry andriod
BETTER THAN LUMIA
No. This phone is not better than Lumia.
Like what?
@homeboy9948 One of the best around.
