The 70’s records were vastly underrated. That was some brilliant stuff. Big Bob Smith had sounds in his head that didn’t exist until he gave them to us. Genius
Fantastic!! They were so young and sounded fresh. This The Cure that I like the most. Simon was playing very good and Robert was sooo attractive for me here wow!... I love it, what a good live show, thank you for sharing it!
Tried playing this on guitar along with Robert. FUCK, my right hand is about to fall off. What a magnificent group these three (and occasionally four) were.
@david_post_punk not ready for that. It's been awhile and I'm sure it sounds like shite until I worked it out... again. But in a chord and riff wise it's not too bad , in a technical way. But to get the rhythms and nuances down is another matter
Your title should refer to the fact that the band launches immediately into the excellent instrumental "Another Journey By Train." Thanks for uploading this and in amazing quality, too.
@@jezza10181 Simon isn't playing anything that wasn't already there, Michael played as busy as hell bassline on the original, and Simon replicated the vibe of it for Another Journey...
la unica razon por la que esta no es la mejor cancion que he escuchado en toda mi vida, es porque the cure saco mas!... lo mas grande de todos los tiempos!!!!
@@miloesalazar he’s kind of my fav drummer, wouldn’t say he was the ‘best’ (Boris maybe.) But his work on their first 3 albums contains some of my fav drum riffs, figurehead, other voices, strange day, pornography, hanging garden etc etc
Damn, that's good!!! If i could have this playing in my eyes and ears as i go about my normal day, i would have it every day every damn second for the rest of my life!!
Someone told me smith was so wrapped up in being successful he never had time to be with anyone else but band mates in rehearsals and the occasional hanger on friends of theirs. When not rehearsing he was to himself writing and putting out as many words in the work until he found which words flowed to the music most. And even then he was strict to not share until studio ready.
As a railfan I like this song, and Another Journey by Train! Really the entire Boys Don't Cry album is great! I think Robert Smith is older than I am (or almost)!
This song reminds me when I was happy and did not know
nailed it
Love that...I may have to 'jump your train' & use in the future, my friend!
Truer words never written...
Teenage fears …
WELL SAID!!
Simon wearing a leather jacket while sweating his ass off and playing bass like a beast.
Fuckin legend man

I can't explain how much this song brings me joy. And this live version is probably my favorite version.
Me, too!
"this song is about... trains" Great combo!
Man's ripping through this song. So satisfying to hear Roberts finesse
i was there when this musical explosion went down...it was called "punkrock/new wave" and those who missed out...really missed out! :)
"If you pick up on it quick, you can say you were there"
Yep, good job jumping on that train homie.
The 70’s records were vastly underrated. That was some brilliant stuff. Big Bob Smith had sounds in his head that didn’t exist until he gave them to us. Genius
Lol Tolhurst is such an underrated drummer. Human metronome.🥁
The sole reason why I play a precision bass. Epic
One of the Cure's greatest songs
That bass!!!!! Wow
Yeeeees! Fantastiiiiiiic 🎉🎉🎉🎉

The young beautiful Robert Smith with a raw energy when he performed with The CURE before the make up and before the fame all over the world !
This is 2 songs played back to back. Jumping someone elses train, followed by Another journey by train. Thanks for posting!
17 seconds - deluxe version (b side)...
"Another journey by train" is b-side of "A Forest".
Pretty most of you know it, but it's such a great song that it deserved to be mentioned.
They used to play them together
Tried playing this on guitar along with Robert. FUCK, my right hand is about to fall off. What a magnificent group these three (and occasionally four) were.
I can do both guitar parts fairly well, but that bloody bass is a beast

I get excited with the light effects on the old cameras
Love this live combo of 2 songs, or song + demo, very nice: Jumping Someone else´s train & Another Journey by train
The best version live of both.
Was the best time of the Cure. Good memory's
NO ITS ILOVE CURE 1989 OK

What a killer version of one of my favorite songs! Love the instrumental!
That's another song altogether bro..
2:19 to 2:34 : Tolhurst for president
What a band.... incredible musicianship from them all
I actually love lol in his drummin days.....
+Christina L. So do I. They will never sound the same without him.
I never understood why Robert hated his way of playing the drums, for me it is awesome!
+richard brook I know right! So much better than keyboards ! :)
Christina L. Yeah aha
Christina L. He actually sounds like he's close to Ramones speed on this one!
Playing guitar and singing at the same is hard. This song is workout too. Great job Robert!
It isn't if you practice it..
Hard is play BASS guitar and sing at the same time
What's really hard is singing lead AND backup vocasl at the same time. Or playing drums and keyboards together.
@@19TheJohn93 nothing is hard of u practice it enough
the best drumer in this band....
Best band of the 80s hands down!
Pure Cure Brilliance! Don't you wish you were there
this is SOOOO GOOD one of the best cure songs ever
A valiant effort for a 3-piece band to play a song live that has two important overdubbed guitars.
I think Simons excellent bass playing helps to fill it all out, then Robert just has to supply the bare bones chords
@@jezza10181 Simon isn't playing anything that wasn't already there, Michael played as busy as hell bassline on the original, and Simon replicated the vibe of it for Another Journey...

I was seeking out a live video just so I could see how they did it, because I want to form a 3-piece and possibly do this one

Pure moment of Cure
Is that Tolhurst playing the drums? Yeah, that´s Lol... and is Gallup in the bass? I think he is because of the picking... Anyway, Freaking GREAT!
11 year old reply, fucking Lol Tolhurst knows how to groove and mock those drum machine beats.

Love Lol. He's just fantastic.
that bass riff is so kick arse!
Happy Times when I was a teenager and I do love their evolution ! Friendly from France.
Allez, un grand bol de Cure pour prolonger la nuit! Le grand Bob du temps de sa splendeur, avec en prime Lol Tolhurst a la batterie...Cure toujours !

Man, Lol was really steady on drums.
the mounting intensity all the way through those last few moments! anyone else notice how lol collapses off of his stool at the end?
Simon Solberg I’ve watched this 400 times and just copped it! Nice one
at 1:00 - Robert says with his eyes "Damn it Simon.. Just play the right notes"
