Similarly, the fish emblem too is not found at Horton plains or mountain peaks, but in Ruhuna, Thissamaharama (including fish coins), Anuradhapura (after ascension) as well as neighbouring India; the Indus valley, Mahajanpada Matsya kingdom, Lunar kshetriya Pandyan / Pandu (the Mahavamsa description of Kuveni as a Pandu daughter, Panduvasudeva the nephew of Vijaya and Pandyan/Pandu mother as per the Mahavamsa, etc.).
The seafaring merchants who bought all the above (script, language, Buddhism, etc.) could in fact use such an emblem, which gets established like the others mentioned above. Only the amalgamation of the local and foreign is the truth and no exclusive local geographic group.
I urge the observer to check a map of SL to ascertain for yourself the distance between Thoppigala, the mountains and the coast. So is it accurate to single out this distinction. Was not the same distinction and suggestion made in the 1st episode from Sigiriya, though Sigiriya is 5th century AD and Thopigala is 3rd century BC, still we are to credit a mountain group overlooking the immediate environment !!. The real 'swadeshi' was the ancestor of the Adhivasi Veddha community, all others are subsequent migrants throughout history spanning thousands of years, be they the dark-skinned people from pre Aryan India, South East Asia, etc. or the Aryans. So is it accurate and patriotic to make bogus distinctions, is that not partly responsible for the near extinction of the original community and other issues we face even today.
In episode 43, the professor interpreted Giri Kumbila (giri = hill and kumbhila = crocodile) as deriving from the vehicle of Varuna:

The sea God's vehicle is makara, though sometimes it is depicted as a crocodile. Your average Neth fm lister is unaware that Varuna images had also been excavated from the site of the Aukana masterpiece and ancient Stupas of SL. This means that our ancestors had duly acknowledged, appreciated and revered (all aspects of) their ancient culture and traditions. Is it therefore scientifically and ethically correct to drag even Varuna to the mountains to fit a theory/group.
How can a mountain population disperse into the rest of the country when those places were inhabited ? Are you suggesting a form of colonisation ? From where did these people go to the mountains? The Sinhalalese and the Tamils DNA reveal a common ASI lineage, with only a minute level of the Adhivasi Veddha lineage, making an exclusive mountain group settling the rest of the island unviable in terms of genetic evidence. Whilst the Mahavamsa writers had acknowledged their bias (pointed out by the professor), he fails to grasp this about himself. Many historians and 'scholars' the world-over have their biases, in SL it is almost impossible to find historians whose thoughts had not been infected by the added germs of other segmentation theories that do not exist outside. Whilst the professor will be unable to change his theory and the broadcaster is unable to promote the views of other professors, the masses absorb these narrow and at times incorrect views. This will contribute to the cycle of social problems in the future.
