I live in central Oklahoma on 5 heavily wooded acres, burning seasoned hickory in the wood stove right now and makes my house smell like a BBQ restaurant. Keeps stove glowing orange too. My favorite firewood.

We have several acres with Hickory trees on our farm and I ran it green last winter and did well so I am excited to see it this winter as a seasoned wood for the wood stove. Run Oak Ash Maple and Sycamore through it as well. I run Hedge sparely because I do not want to melt down my firebox just yet.

We have alot of shagbark hickory in the midwest. One year season is not sufficient from my experience.
Have burned some that had three years season and my stove stayed hot literally hours after even the coals were burned out.
There is nothing like the heat output of good seasoned hickory.
