Suggestion first: I found pointed q-tips made for eye make up which use bamboo sticks. Still fibrous, but they are much better than regular qtips. I got my 339A early this summer. It languished in a barn! but as you said the sealed internals stayed good. Switch faces, so sad. I have been comparing 339A measurements to my HP334A and have not felt need to check 339A, but I will now compare my measurements to what you get. Such fine instruments with beautiful insides. I enjoy manipulating the 334a controls to get a measurement. The 339A's machine prompted adjustments to get a measurement is truly amazing. Analog elegance. I've seen a couple nice demonstrations of this unit on youtube, but your demonstration and explanation are the best. I'm looking forward to your videos.
Cool instrument! I like how it combines a few functions. Got a distortion meter, but it's just that - no built-in generator or level meter, you need external ones. I sometimes had binding posts crack and break away, possibly due to plastic shrink and breaking under internal tension. Lovely internals, as expected of HP. Spare no expense, cost no object.
