    Bob Hope
Bob Hope rose to the top of every medium he touched: headliner in Vaudeville, Broadway star, radio icon, movie idol and superstar on television. His persona reached audiences of every age in every decade of the 20 th century.
A popular star in Vaudeville, it was Broadway’s “Roberta” where Bob eventually caught the eyes of critics. In 1938, NBC signed him for a radio show that became a fixture in American homes. It wasn’t long before Paramount called on Bob. He went on to make 50+ feature films, including the hugely popular “Road Pictures” with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour. In 1950, his TV career officially launched with “Star Spangled Revue.”
An accomplished man, Bob’s greatest legacy was his commitment to American service personnel. For nearly six decades, at war or at peace, “G.I. Bob” crossed the globe with 57 USO tours for troops in WW II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War. In the history of show business, no one traveled so far, so often, to entertain so many.

Patriotic, entertaining as hell, classy, a Hollywood legend. He did so much for troop morale in times when it was badly needed. Sure miss him and the classy stars of that era.

Not being American or alive at the time, but you lucky, lucky people to have seen these great entertainers in their prime. Legendary doesn't even come close.

I wish they were all still around today. Those were comedians. Quick wit & naturally funny w/o cursing or insulting others. Sigh…

I truly miss comedies like this there's too much hate in the world we don't know how to sit back and enjoy true comedy here it is August 25th 2024 where did all the comedy go some people have tried copying it but they mess it up because the comedies out there no more if the originals can't do it then it's not comedy it's it's stereotyping the comedy just not there anymore wagon train all of John Wayne movies I have watched all my heroes all my heroes Carol Burnett show the Danny Thomas comedy hour the Jerry Reed comedy hour where did all the comedy go all my country singers they're already gone that's why I like listening to him on XM radio and then people ask me why do you listen to people that have passed well their heroes of mine they'll never be that kind of music again couple hundred years down the road people are still going to listen to saddleback music that's what I call it
