Please don’t feed the gators but just observe. It’s not safe for people walking by water or being in the water. I have gone kayaking and been chased by a gator. Most gators should be afraid of humans (unless people feed them or it’s a mother with her nest)
@@MiniforceRailfan they aren’t native to Southern California. So technically in that state they are because that’s not the area they’re originally from. They aren’t likely to survive in that area in California but they have showed up before which is why they would be invasive to Southern California. They would eat anything they want but that’s not natural there vs like Florida where they are everywhere
Back in my Grandpas younger days you can very easily buy an alligator from a pet store. I only know because he used to have one and he bought it from a pet store! Very easy to get a pet Alligator back then like how iguanas are easily sold in pet stores today. Also back in those days it was easy to have a pet Tiger or pet Bear as well. So a pet alligator getting easy to have as a pet back then doesn’t surprise me.
I remember Reggie! He was hanging out in a Park in Harbor City, California just a bike ride West of the 110 Freeway behind the Kaiser Parmeante Hospital 🐊🥳! He got pretty big too

My dad bought one at the local Kmart back in the 80’s .. Had him until the game & wildlife ppl found out. Still can’t figure out how and why Kmart had him… Sure miss my crazy father
Oh my Gosh I so remember that. Reggie . My friend lived near the lake or the pond that he was placed in I believe it was either a an officer police officer or a fireman I think it was a police officer that had him as a pet and released It made the news I remember.
