Now that is a "center of the case" kind of point if I ever saw one! They just don't get much better than that...especially out of a field. Gotta love material on the little killer with the ear ding too. Congrats on all of those finds, and thanks for taking us along for the thrill of the hunt!

Thanks,,Campsites will always be near water, whether, creeks, rivers, springs, etc.,but not at a level that has flood potential. If its a good site, things can be found year after year.

FlintSpall thanks for your fast response will be subscribing to your site I’ve never sent any pics through UTube but would love to show my latest find I’m around Des Moines Ia on a old camp site looking down on the Des Moines river south of Red Rock Dam every find gives me good old goose bumps and the energy to walk or search another 20 miles. I found a drill point about six inches with hand grip attached it’s made out of Burlington flint goes from 1 inch to 3/8 almost 6 long with grip that is four inches broken at the grip but the tip of drill looks like it has probably been reworked. If whole it could’ve been one of my best finds ever I’m 58. I also found a paleo 9 inches thirty yards from that piece about 10 years ago after doing exactly what you said about going that extra distance I did quite the jig that day. It’s very rare. I’m waiting for the flood waters to recede kayaking around Lake Red Rock should be one of the best hunts since 1993. Keep on hunting.

@@kidjetrecon7153 Sounds like your area was rich in occupation in the day.I've seen lots of stellar artifacts from some Iowa utubers.,who walk cricks.:>) In my area its creeks.lol Those pieces you speak of would be unusually large for my area in Tn.,,but I'm still looking for em.:>) GL & be careful in those flood waters. Yall have been devastated out west, while we've had 2 one inch rains since mid march.Dry as a bone and already in the mid 90's daily.

I was stood over there looking after a storm in a field and a friend of mine told me not to move. well congrats! You may become addicted if your not careful.:>) Its highly addictive.I'd say the material is only common to a region within a certain radius in the west. While tribes actually done trading of such,to find an artifact made of foreign material, would be rare.Sounds like maybe some type of agate.I know obsidian and basalt, are native in that area.I'm sure theres many more types I'm unaware of.Sounds pretty, everybody likes translucent things.Good Luck finding your next one.

It's believe that they were made when indians used an atlatal for spear throwing, which was a counter weigh for prolonged accurate throws, while some bannerstones were used also, for the same purpose, but as time passed, boatstones and bannerstones became mainly ornamental.

A Donnaha tip I think is when tip narrows very rapidly and the sweeps up in a tiny sharp tip like would happen if the very tip broke off and you re-sharpened it to a very sharp point but didn't feather it down gradually but left it a little blunter than you would expect a point to be but with a little sharp stabby tip on it. In the front of most Overstreets there is diagrams of Distal End types and it is in there. And I don't know if pure Paleo on your stubbie but TRANS maybe ??? Got the look !!!

All the places I hunt are near a water source, else they would never camp there for any amount of time, unless a water source is there.maybe a small overnight expedition, where they could carry enough water to last them, but never a main stay.they camped near rivers, creeks, springs, and even swamps, even on ridge tops that had access to water close by.

    Its possible,yet I don't own a Dalton,just don't find them here,so I'd say its either a Lost Lake or a Dovetail.Thanks
