"I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell!" But seriously, amazing vocals by the young women and the band killed it too. Now I've got to find a video of a performance by the original group, which had all the choreography too.
This is without doubt the best School of Rock performance! The 4 girls, the band ? Incredible!!! Mixed beautifully! We need more of this please! How has this not got more views ???!
we need more covers of En Vogue. such an influential female R&B group for many reasons. in my eyes, they were/are the female Temptations including the drama between them. these 4 ladies absolutely KILLED it. special shoutout to the tamborine player, you stole the show in the band scenes.
I must admit that I was not familiar with this song so I don’t know how it is supposed to sound, but these kids blew me away with it! I am continually amazed at the talent of the SOR kids. The vocal power and harmonizing were incredible, those girls showed real star potential. The band was tight, the drummer was steady and I loved the cowbell! Well done kids!
The original was a huge 90's hit for En Vogue (probably their biggest hit), and it sounded just like this, except these kids' harmonies might have been even slightly better, which is saying something because En Vogue could harmonize beautifully. Go listen to the original and see what you think.
@@joshuaburba1048 thank you for telling me about the original. I wasn’t paying much attention to popular music much in the 90s (most of it was junk IMHO, I was listening to Jazz and classic rock) so I missed this gem. I’ll go look it up and take a listen. UPDATE: I just listened to the En Vogue original. I agree with you that these kids have come up with a much better version! The vocals here are cleaner and the harmonies are much more refined. I have said it before, these SOR kids are talented, well taught and so professional even at a young age!
@@ReidLangford You're very welcome. I agree with your assessment of 90's music as a whole. I grew up on 80's metal and didn't care too much for a lot of 90's music, although I can usually find something I like in any genre. I also appreciated your assessment of these kids' version. I think the way you said their harmonies are "cleaner" beautifully captures what I was trying to say. And thanks for being willing to check out the original just to see. Most people wouldn't do that, so I respect that you were willing. Thanks for the chat.
@@joshuaburba1048 you are too kind my friend! Like you, I can find something to like within any genre of music (I still don’t care much for country though, and I was never into the heavy metal stuff in the 80s). It’s always good to be able to compare a song with the original, sometimes a remake is much better than the original! I think the original En Vogue song suffered from the heavy use of reverb on the vocals, it just seems to have muddled it too much. I think much of the music in the 90s tended to be over processed with auto-tuning and computer-enhancements (digital was just coming into its own and music engineers were like kids in a candy store with the new “toys” at their disposal).
@@ReidLangford Again your assessment seems spot on in that you mentioned 90's music being over-processed. I think that's a great way to put it. Ironically, being from Nashville, everyone assumes we all love country music, but I couldn't stand it for much of my growing up years. Yet, at some point I suddenly gained an interest in it, and I've enjoyed it ever since. I'm not quite sure why my tastes flipped though. It does help when you meet some of the artists, I think, and discover what they are like. For example, my wife taught two of Vince Gill's grandkids, and he is by far the nicest, most humble, most down to earth person you can imagine. There isn't a shred of ego or arrogance around him. Anyway, I'm just rambling now. Have a good weekend.
Absolutely killed it! South team wins the cover song battles! Vocals on point with harmonies and the vocals all worked together flawlessly. Bass player gives best vibes. All together amazing and was fire in person
@@bargainbrandmusiciani ve been rewatching some of the school of rock videos you are in, you are amazing! I also love your expressions, vibe and style! ❤❤
En Vogue released their album Funky Devas in 1992. I remember cruising around in my cherry 1986 Toyota 4x4 with Free Your Mind blasting. Thanks guys for sparking great memories and awesome job covering one of my favs.
The best message: ."You can change my mind but not my colour!" Sorry for not exacting the lyrics. For me, that goes for everyone on this planet. No one can change who I am but me.
Just spent 5 whole minutes in stank-face mode! Yoooooo! Incredible work! That songs has always gone waaaay too hard (in the BEST way) and YOU all did it every ounce of justice. D A N G.
Who is the young lady that sang second, wow she is one powerful singer! Absolutely loved all of them but especially the second singer, she's also very easy on the eyes! 😍
I like the way those young ladies really sing it out. This song wants to be belted out and real; they owned it, did it, ROCKED ! Very enjoyable. And loved the gritty guitar and solid base, drums. Free your minds!
I'm sorry, I hate to be the only one not saying something positive, but something is missing from this performance, and I can't quite put my finger on it. Oh wait, I just realized what it is. . . . . It needs more cowbell. 😁😆🤪 All joking aside, those harmonies were absolutely phenomenal. Wow, so perfectly done. Great job everyone.
man would love to hear these talented rock stars perform Mad Qualia by HYDE or Heart of Fire by Black Veil Brides or Anastasia by Slash, Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators
The smallest girl, ?Sydney?, who sang 2nd can sing in my band anytime!! Awesome job everyone!!
Wow, that was powerful! What a talent explosion. I am absolutely impressed. The vocals blew me away, and the band backed it up with virtuoso playing.
The shorter girl singing had some serious spunk awesome job!
She was the best here
I have seen Sydney sing in other clips. She is an awesome singer. Totally love her style. Definitely a star!
Ove her!
Love her!
Took bet a minute but she got into it.

I put my pants on,one leg at a time like everybody else. But when I do,I make gold records
Killin' it. Vocals. Cowbell solo. All of it.
fell in luv with Sydney

Great cover… the girls rocked the vocals and the band really hit the mark. I so enjoy the SOR projects.
These ladies: Alana, Brielle, Elysha, Sydney are singing the notes out of this!!!

that drummer is solid, this is one of the best ones I've heard out of the ones I've heard. good jam selection.
I've been binge watching School of Rock. Rocking out to young people making amazing tunes
I think I actually prefer this more rocky version to the original, which I already liked a lot! Very well done!

That was incredible. The way they hit those harmonies. WOW.

When does SOR not knock it out of the park? Amazingly tight version.
Сидни, лапочка, обожаю её саму и её вокал.
I can't help but vision in my mind Woody Harrelson with cowboy hat and blue jean jacket, line dancing on a lit catwalk to this song.
WOW! Top Shelf peformance! All players are outstanding...VOX, Drums, Bass, Guitar...excellent job SOR!
i’m so glad you enjoyed our performance! we had a lot of fun recording this!
