The best trio of rock that changed the sound of 80's and inspired million of rock bands around the world for mixing rock with their own local music. Music isnt the same since The Police conquered the world. Regards from Peru.
Synchronicity was not synthesizer heavy. It had some piano and I'm sure some kyboards, but was mainly guitar, bass, and drums. Sure Andy's guitar had the usual pedal effects and echo so maybe that's what she thinks were synths.
Excellent point; Could not agree more. She definitely mistook Andy's guitar effects as synthesizers like on Walking in Your Footsteps, O My God & Wrapped Around Your Finger.
Music history said that Roxanne was a total flop to be released in 1978, until 1979 it became a hit single! Every breath you take went to #1 in 1983 on the Billboard charts and stayed for a few weeks! The band was also a total flop in the late 70s but more successful in the 80s!
"They released their punk-influenced debut Outlandos d'Amour in 1978, and this was the same year that they signed with A&M Records." What an odd, head-shake sentence, Ms Narrator. A bit out of sequence, such as "Newton discovered gravity, and then later an apple fell on his head."
I burst out laughing when they said that their album came out when they got a record deal. No shit Sherlock. Because it's pretty hard to bring one out without one.
Agreed. The sequence was they recorded Roxanne at Surrey Studios, then Miles Copeland (Stewart's brother and their manager) heard it, knew it would be a hit, took it to A&M and THEN they signed the record deal.
In my opinion this is what happened to the Police : In Musical terms STING is a mix of : 3% Punk - 10% Rock - 12 % Soul- 75 % Pop Jazz others Although he liked what he was doing in the first 2 Police albums, he was a little forced to do it because of the circumstances (he was playing jazz at that time). I guess he was suffering pressure for being the leader of a band that demanded more Reggae-Punky - Rock . The evolution is clear, the last albums went towards to a more pop sound. He was not confortable and decided to have a break that at last was forever, because he never returned to the band. In the STING alone albums there is no reference to Punk-Reggae- Rock anymore, Is his musical nature. , it´s really a pity because I love the first albums, and the style they created was a completely new thing, never recreated anymore. If STING were more Punky-Reggae-Rocker man, The police would have make one of the more extensive and original albums from all the times. They did what they did, and it was a lot, but I think that the comercial AOR pop derive , made that many of the first Police Fans were disappointed. What a great band was !, Love STEWART & ANDY, but unfortunately you can´t convert a dog in a cat, and STING did no have a Rocky-Reggae-Punky Soul (Sorry for my English, i am Spanish, hope I have Express myself correctly and you can understand the meaning.....)
Actually Stewart's was as big if not bigger. Remember he founded the band, so as Sting's hit songwriting began to take over, Stewart's ego kicked into high gear and he tried to maintain as much control of the band as Sting was. And Miles, their manager, was Stewart's brother and their other brother, Ian, was a music publisher so the 3 of them had a deep connection. It all made for lots of strife indeed. But in the end, they created some incredible, enduring music.
Probably the most shallow round up of information (including some errors) that I've ever had the mis pleasure to have to endure. Roxanne bombed in the UK until The Police toured America and then re-released it in the UK. At their height they were the biggest band in the world but you wouldn't know that watching this (as usual) dumbed down, tissue thin blurb from WatchDumbo. If a second grader had provided this as their homework I'd give them nothing more than a C grade. If you can't be bothered to research a great group like this (other than make a few notes from Wikipedia) then why bother doing it at all. Note to whoever composed this, Synchronicity was hardly heavy synthesised (I'm guessing that the writer of this drivel didn't even listen to it, but was so stupid that thought the title relates to synths), it doesn't, pick up a dictionary). Sting released his solo album after the band split up (they weren't on a little break, the band SPLIT)
The title sounds like Sting lived a life of crime
Rotfl
The greatest power trio of all-time.

THE HISTORY OF THE POLICE AND STING IN JUST 5 MINUTES ? HAHAHAHAA...IMPOSSIBLE MAN...
Sting. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that.
I really respect this reference.

5:05 poor Sting. Has silver hairspray in his eyes.
Yup
i love the band more than individuals
The best comment ever on The Police, I also prefer them as a band instead of being soloists.
Backing Band for Eberhard Schoener and Cherry Vanilla. Before Andy Summers they released a Single (Fallout) with Henry Padovani on Guitar.

minimal research done from the usually shallow WactchDumbo. They'd probably describe WWI as a brawl.
Not in the UK , Outlandos D'amour and Regetta de Blanc were selling well in the late 70's .
@@thornbird6768 y'all right!
Jazz Rock/Reggae Rock/Punk Rock.
There was nothing punk or reggae about Zenyatta Mondatta. Only the first two Police albums.

Who's Steve?
You mean Stewart? You obviously don't know much about the band.
@@iansputnik Not too much, I've seen the band live in 1980, I play most of their songs with the guitat ..... Yes ! STEWART ....
Sue Lawley, who amongst us Brits remembers that misheard lyric.😂
Seriously my favourite song of theirs is King Of Pain.
Which one?

The great Band 🇲🇹 kiku Malta
sting is one of the greatest frontmen of all time
I loved The Police, but I always felt like Sting got a huge ego and that’s why they split. 😕

Should do a Sting biopic film
a great band
So thats the history of Sting. i always thought of him as a mysterious guy.
He's an ex school teacher from Newcastle. Creepy when you think he wrote a song about a teacher and a school girl.
Yeah that's a pretty controversial song but it's a great song! I love it!
I was Gordon Sumner's Rorschach test.
Why the f did you put So Lonely in the background and write that it was Every breath you take? Fucking hell..
Message In a Bottle
just wanted to hear the music
Who knew sting was the lead singer of this band before his album 44/876 with shaggy?
Scary question 😉
Three dorks made some nice pop music one dork embarrassingly thought he was very cool - the end
thanks mate!:)
❤
they completely missed dont stand so close to me 86
Yeah was waiting for that. Then they tried to rerecord De Do Do Do, but that failed so they abandoned the "new" concept and released their GH album
yes no one watching
I still am
