Me too. I guess it makes sense to use high-quality parts if they want it to last a long time. I have seen homeless people riding these around, so I’m sure they’re losing some money on them.
I live in Edinburgh, Scotland and yesterday for the first time ever I hired one the street bikes after having a little bit of difficulty trying to unlock the bike and with the help of a kind person passing by even she had problems trying to unlock the bike until one her friends stopped by to help and got the bike unlocked for me. We both agreed the app wasn't very helpful. But once the bike was unlocked I was able to go for a ride around Queens Park at the foot of Arthur Seat. It was a really nice sunny day. I was surprised how easy it was cycle I admit I was surprised to see how heavy the bike frame was. I enjoyed my time cycling I haven't been on a bicycle in years wel, since I was kid. After a bit of nervousness at first trying to get the feel of the bike and trying not fall or ride into anything after about 10 or 15 minutes my nerves went away and felt a bit more confident only to cycle on the foot path not on the cycleway I would've been too terrified to cycle there with cars going past me. I admit I haven't forgotten how uncomfortable the saddles are lol. I didn't use my whole hour up I used about 50 minutes that was enough for me. The pricing for the street bikes are £1.50 for 1 hour then I think it's 10p per minute after that to hire the bike for the whole day I think it's £7 or something like that. They also have electric bikes which I didn't know about. Would I hire one of the street bikes again? Maybe in the summer when the weather is nicer and it's warmer sure I wouldn't rule it out next time though I want to try one of the electric bikes see what they are like. The city of Edinburgh is quite a hilly city so an electric bike would definitely help.

I got a few questions about the carb, the clutch plates, and the gear issues (the US imported ones have that weird linkage to make it work on the left side). Me too! I think an E bike should have a motorcycle throttle on it as well as pedal assist mode for situations like that. This one only helps you out when you’re spinning the pedals.
A bit surprised to see a Bosch system on this bike. I would have expected something that was non-branded to deter theft.

So when the electricity kicks in you don’t have to pedal at all?
You have to keep moving the pedals around so it helps you, but if you pedal slowly it does all the work.
