I had the pleasure of meeting Adam Gilchrist in a pub in Dharamshala when he was captain of Punjab team in 2011. We had a few beers & laughs. Genuine down to earth personality. At one point it didn’t even feel like i was talking to such a legendary player

He has always been my favorite cricketer. Not only as a wicket keeper batsman but also as a human being. It's really hard to find such a wonderful wicket keeper batsman+ human being. His honest was something that attracted me the most. He never claimed himself the best even though he has been the best wicket keeper of the cricketing history. He said, Ms Dhoni is the best then Kumer Sangakkara and then Mark Boucher. He never played for his career average. He always played for the team. Otherwise his batting average could have been 40+ in odis and 56+ in tests. Before his retirement series, he averaged around 55 which was incredible. He could play everywhere in the world. Even in Asian countries. He has scored at least a hundred in each of the Asian countries. He has scored 33 hundreds in his career and 32 of them came on a winning cause. When he retired from IPL in 2013, even Preety Zinta cried for him. Everyone who were associated with KXIP team, caried because of him. The only ball he bowled in his last IPL mathch, he got the wicket of Harbhajan singh and the way he celebrated, it's was truly amazing. I never saw him smiling like that before. He lived that moment. He never played for his career average. He always played for the team. Otherwise his batting average could have been 40+ in odis and 56+ in tests. Before his retirement series, he averaged around 55 which was incredible. He could play everywhere in the world. Even in Asian countries. He has scored at least a hundred in each of the Asian countries.
He has scored 33 hundreds in his career and 32 of them came on a winning cause.
When he retired from IPL in 2013, even Preety Zinta cried for him. Everyone who were associated with KXIP team, caried because of him. The only ball he bowled in his last IPL mathch, he got the wicket of Harbhajan singh and the way he celebrated, it's was truly amazing. I never saw him smiling like that before. He lived that moment.
Cricket has been my first love and Adam Craig Gilchrist was the reason behind that. He'll always be my favorite no. 1
