Horror is a genre I've barely explored, mostly because I'm a huge wuss. Typically my TV Show viewings consist of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Worst Witch. This year I decided to expand my TV show knowledge and try and watch these horror TV Show fan favourites.

I really like this epi for Buffy's character development. Riley brought closure and both he and Sam gave Buffy some much needed perspective and praise she wasn't getting from anyone else in her life. Enjoyed your reaction!

I think the point of Spike in this episode is that he thought he was trying to help Buffy, but at the end of the day, being soulless, he wasn't even if it could have worked. That combined with Riley being there wakes Buffy up from her part in the badness and depression this season.

The quality of the casting on this show never ceases to amaze. Sam was played by the brilliant Ivana Miličević who was one of the leads on another great show called Banshee and also stared in The 100. For what it's worth it seems likely that Spike was only engaging in his schemes as the Doctor so could get money to help Buffy out.

This episode might just be a catch-all, but it had some good lines and little pop culture jabs (Do they have dental? LOL). I hope nobody spoils for you, but every time you talk about future possibilities in this season I wince more than any other. Good reaction as always!

Great little comedy openers here with the Vampire not wanting to touch Buffy because of the smell of burgers off her at The Doublemeat Palace, and then Willow and Dawn noticing the grass stains on Buffy's clothes after another rough session with Spike. The bombshell of Riley returning can't really save this episode as I think it is very much 5/10 effort, a bit of a filler really. Once Buffy realises Riley is married she turns to Spike again, this time it almost seems like desperation as she asks Spike to say 'do you love me' and ask him again does he want her. It just seems that Buffy wants to be with Spike because Riley has returned, and when Riley catches them, it is awkward except for Buffy and Riley, but not for Spike who is revelling in the situation. Riley of course is right here in that he explains to Buffy that Spike is still amoral, soulless and dangerous. The overall plot of this episode is quite ropey, but interesting exchanges at the end with Riley and Buffy, and of course when Riley and Sam eventually do leave on the chopper, Willow waving them off but says 'what a bitch' trying to give some form comfort to Buffy. At the very end we feel Buffy is doing the right thing ending it with Spike, and uses his real name William, a throwback to S5 Fool For Love, in which Cecily cruelly rejected him.

I find this episode particularly cringy. Yeah, I know that Spike is still a soulless monster but his actions here just don't fit his character arc for me. It just..falls flat.

The thing is, Buffy is suffering severe trauma and depression. As in back in the finale of Once More with Feeling: "This isn't real, I just want to feel..." and Spikes "You make me feel..." with the word cut off by a kiss that would have finished both sentences "alive." And, well, I'd simply suggest continuing to watch. ;)

Viewers always seem to have two arcs in mind for Spike: his actual arc, and the one they're imagining for him. I don't see this as out of character for him at all, anywhere up to this point of his arc. But obviously a lot of viewers imagine him becoming a "changed man" by this point which simply isn't true.
