I remember finding the early version of this game and really liking it. That was over a year ago and I never thought the developer would continue working on it. I was pleasantly surprised finding it on steam yesterday and today when I got a notification of this Fan Friday plastered a smile on my face. I feel like this is a sign from the universe to pursue art.
The weird thing is seeing these paintings and actually believing that they are good works of art. You have a strong ability to title your painting to give them the character that they embellish.
As someone who draws while listening to these it's kinda funny hearing him shit on art while making it, but its also pretty accurate to being an artist in the first place.
lol those were my exact thoughts, especially since I have just recently taken an Art History class. A lot of Jesse's comments on modern art were hilarious in my opinion. The whole "no one understands what art actually is, it's only good if you like it" thing (I paraphrased heavily) had me in stitches.
As an amateur game programmer, I am really wondering how the AI of the customers work. Image analysis is a complicated endeavor, especially when you want it too feel a bit "human".
I thought about most of those, but I didn't think about the stroke count. It is indeed an easy to use information here, as the image is drawn in-app. Nice thought. Still, I would love to have more details about this. I guess only the devs could ever tell me the general idea of what they did, though.
Hyakkidour4n I was thinking there is a possibility of pressure of the mouse click, as hard means passionate and light means precise. Probably not able to do something like this though
As a programmer myself, I thought the same thing, so I started trying to look at some patterns, and also listening to the criticisms of the people buying them. I think these things might be part of deciding whether they buy it or not: * which colors are used in the painting, and which are discluded. * How many strokes there are * what type of tools you use * How much of the canvas you paint Now there's also a few more complex tricks they could use if they wanted to use basic image analysis, but I doubt they went as far as to use a Gaussian filter, or do anything of that level. It's also possible they could be comparing colors that are touching and seeing if those colors go well together in terms of color theory. I'm not sure though. It's also possible that the size of the strokes could matter, and how variant your stroke sizes are could influence the buyers. All-in-all I doubt it's a very complex decision making process. If this is indeed an indi game, I don't think they'd have the time to create an entire side project dedicated to image analysis.
Yeah, let's just throw in a splash of burnt sienna for the grundle, very nice. Then we take the fan brush, just flick the wrist and make some happy little pubes. Great, that's just great. Add a little titanium white for the highlights, just blend it into the shaft and knob, and there you have it!
art is what an artist makes and an artist is that who makes art. I love art, all of it, for the anger, love, passion that generates on humans. It's amazing that a single piece of paint can anger so many humans. There is beauty on that
From what I heard around the internet, while Jesse was filming this intro, Satchell Drakes was just outside of his office. You can probably find Satch's tweet somewhere on the timeline.
I love the comment on the picture of Crendor... "This fella has no energy, boring" I disagree on the boring part, but she obviously knew who the picture was of.
What I am getting from the game's way of defining good art, is to not let a single bit of white canvas visible, even if it is integrated into whatever you did.
while it isn't a common interpretation, I see Jesse's "No Butts, No Scrubs" to be a statement on how we all share similar DNA regardless of body shape.
"This blue represents the inner turmoil of mankind and this darker blue represents darker blue." That had me on the floor.
"and a spiral cause I'm spiraling out of control"
Yes, Jesse. from the second you opened this game.
You know, I think I absolutely understand what the artist was going for, there!
*Looking at Crendor artpiece*
"This person has no energy."
EXACTLY
A Passepartout is a paper frame around an image inside a proper frame to give it some space.
Now you know a tiny bit more about the world.
Thanks, Business Cat
so THAT'S what those things are called!
It's also a skeleton key but I think skeleton key is spelt passpartout
It's also french (litteral translation) for goes anywhere/everwhere
so a matte inside a matte?
Jesse:
- I'm gonna call this one. . .
Me:
- THE FUTURE?!
Every time Jesse says "I'm gonna call this one.." all I hear is "THE FUTURE!"
oh but it is...
UFO COMMANDER!
WE ARE THE FUTURE!
WE'RE GONNA TAKE YOU TO THE FUTURE!
THEN WE'RE GONNA GET TO THE FUTURE
But... its Friday....
what is this nonsense????
Witchcraft!!!
Jesse: YOU'RE FRIDAY
...LIKE FROM THE ADDAMS FAMILY
New here... is that not normal?
i actually liked the alien one spraypainted before the yellow line got added
anyone else actually like some of his semi serious art 😅
TheFoxInShades No Butts. No Scrubs really spoke to me
yes I loved Madness of Mankind
Mor You Know, the mordor piece was fantastic. Maybe Jesse should start doing creative streams and just start unleashing his inner artist!
I really liked Mor You Know. That one really deserved better imo.
"you just do it for the money!" yes that's what he lives on of course he does it for money
WTF
a fan friday on FRIDAY
you ok jesse?
Hell froze over I bet.
+Alex Miller You mean your friend named Alex Miller?
28:21 Jesse: "Aren't we all Little Green sometimes?"
Me: "My name is Dende."
I could watch Jesse play this for hours

God this is so calming... I'm gonna fall asleep
This really beautiful and relaxing to watch.Jesse Cox is my favorite artist ;)
Not gonna lie, I would have grabbed "Mor You Know" it looked pretty cool

some of them are actually kind of good, Jesse missed his calling
"isn't that really just what a butt is? a fleshy corner?" - Jesse Cox 2017, onto the tombstone
25:14 Marianna? Jesse, she's in your head! Don't follow her into the sea!
Passpartout, otherwise known as jackie chan in around the world in 80 days.
As someone who draws while listening to these it's kinda funny hearing him shit on art while making it, but its also pretty accurate to being an artist in the first place.

jesse i subbed for fan fridays on saturday at 3 am not mid morning
Austin Kehoe And it's actually Friday! What's up with that?
This is the Friday-est Fan Friday yet.
The game in which Jesse becomes the next Bob Ross.
Now THIS is -Podracing!- ART!
I wonder if jesse's mom would've hung any of these pictures on the refrigerator
Hookers would look beautiful on there.
As an amateur game programmer, I am really wondering how the AI of the customers work. Image analysis is a complicated endeavor, especially when you want it too feel a bit "human".
I'm guessing it calculates how much of the canvas is covered, along with variation/contrast of colours and number of strokes.
I thought about most of those, but I didn't think about the stroke count. It is indeed an easy to use information here, as the image is drawn in-app. Nice thought.
Still, I would love to have more details about this. I guess only the devs could ever tell me the general idea of what they did, though.

Or more cynically they could just use randomness, given the whole subjective nature of art.
Jesse becomes Bob Ross
Let's paint some happy little clouds? Or Beat the Devil out of that brush?
#FREESATANwithArt

Can we get shirts made with these paintings printed on them?
Hooker needs to be a life-size statue
welp..i'm painting while watching jesse paint. it's simultaneously inspiring and distracting.
This is great! Can you make this a short series? also I like the Mordor paintings a lot
So uh
Still waiting on that Zero Escape, Jesse
YASSSSSSS
Its amazing how his paintings slowly got better. Also, the Hooker painting was the best thing ever.
Jesse painting Mordor is the single greatest representation of the creative process in an artist's brain!
I must admit, I enjoyed this a little too much. Watching your creative process was really fun! And raging at people's reactions...too good!
Damn, It takes a special kind of talent to make "fancy ms paint" entertaining. You're the best Jesse! Keep em comin'!
Jesse trying to pronounce this game's name was my reaction to seeing it too. I can practically SEE the dev's artsy beret xD
*gently tips beret*
Flamebait Games *Dips baguette in wine*
Ray Fanning *smokes a baguette while injecting wine*
BOSK *Coughs in French*
I was literally like "YEA ! THESE ARE GREAT IDEAS" and as an artist spent the entire video just redrawing some of these ideas with you.
i'd love for you and doogs to rewatch this a year later i can imagine you laughing at everything like 'what was ithinking?' lol
Honestly, I wouldn't mind a full playthrough.
Then again, a lot of Fan Friday games deserve a full playthrough.
people put diamonds in shit and call it art, hell somebody just got a faulty light and called it art. so this is high class art you're making
the correct term is modern art :P high class art is usually fine art :3
well, i mean, all art is fine, i guess, but that doesn't mean i have to like it.
art is not art until enough people say it is art, no?
art is what an artist makes and an artist is that who makes art.
I love art, all of it, for the anger, love, passion that generates on humans. It's amazing that a single piece of paint can anger so many humans. There is beauty on that
I remember that one painting that's literally just a white line in the middle of the canvas having a price tag of $40 million.
From what I heard around the internet, while Jesse was filming this intro, Satchell Drakes was just outside of his office.
You can probably find Satch's tweet somewhere on the timeline.
Jesse should TOTALLY make an art channel
I could watch this forever its so soothing?
As an artist, this is like the perfect commentary on being an actual artist
YES! I had high hopes for this video to come out!
This music and the Pained Philosophy of Painter Cox.... Perfect.
the song "lines" actually sounds like a legit stage musical song .
Dude. I enjoyed the hell of this when Jesse released it and I just found it again. Quarantine ain’t so bad today
I like on the till it says he has spent money on wine and baguettes, how very french :P
"Awwww ... awwww.... because it's HOOKERS!" *artgasm ensues*
MS Paint meets shitty puns. I love it!
Seeing the retorts that people who play this game have for the customers is great
No mistakes.
Just happy little accidents.
I can't believe I spent an hour of my life watching this... This... THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!
I love the comment on the picture of Crendor... "This fella has no energy, boring" I disagree on the boring part, but she obviously knew who the picture was of.
I swear to God, everytime Jesse says " I'm going to call this one..." I expect him to say " THE FUTURE". Good times XD
Yes, you did just watch a grown man make microsoft paint drawings for an hour. 10/10
"And lines through the butts because all butts are connected!" Jesse.. that's so deep.
I'm not the only one who wants some Jesse original art. recreate some of these in poster form, and I'd definitely spend some folding money on it.
What I am getting from the game's way of defining good art, is to not let a single bit of white canvas visible, even if it is integrated into whatever you did.
A fan Friday video on an actual Friday? Now I've seen everything.
Gotta love that Spiderp-man painting.
You can scroll to change the brush size.
Jesse: Tell me I'm not an artist.
Literally EVERYONE: You are not an artist!!
ah, sweds made this game, I was actually at a small convention and tested this...let us say.. painting a red dot did not sell that much.
Holy shit. A fan Friday that's more than comfortably in a Friday?
That one drawing: what Redbone sounds (and looks) like when taken literally
Omg I haven't watched one of these in a while! AND he actually uploads them on a Friday!
When you sit for an hour to watch Jesse play on MS paint.
Please tell me you painted a Space Butterfly?
I didn't know this game had multiple paths! What?! And Jesse of all people is getting the True Artist path!?
That was a fun little dive into the mind of Jesse Cox
Can we have a show where Jesse creates all kinds of art? I could watch that for hours.
I love the reviews for the Crendor picture being like "it's bland" and "lacks energy"
needs a full playthrough
30:05 Who else saw him start the black line and go, "is he drawing the Eye of Sauron?"
Everytime I hear jesse say "Going to call this one" I just cant help but say...."THE FUUUUTTTTUUUURRREEEE"
Will you be doing more episodes of this game?
Watching this at 1.5x speed makes you look like a friggin prodigy at painting!
Wait a minute...what is this shit?! It's Friday!
I love these games were it is more about Jesse and his personality than it is about the game.
This game is GREAT!!!! Tons of fun seeing what you come up with!!!
"There is no reality in which I will ever pronounce this game."
Actually got it on the first try.
You probably should've held out for money on some of those. There is a bid timer that allows for multiple bids to come in on more popular pieces.
I was into the great JC before he was popular. His early work "Advertise like Shameless Whores" was quite profound.
"The Brain of Man" Is going to become a serious Jesse thing now lol
an hour and four minutes, of Jesse saying how good he is at art.
The painting with the red head and all the spray paint should have been called "Through the Sandstorm"
A Fan Friday on an actual Friday.. what a world we live in.
Dayum a fan Friday on actual Friday
I just want to say I love this new outtro
Jesse is legit insane... like this confirms it lmao
When he has to come up with names his crazy comes out
Yay, early and on my birthday :D Thank you very much with so much love!
honestly, this is my favorite video
"Sellout", "I liked you before you were cool.", "You're old news."
Benjamin is just the RUclips comment section.
No but seriously where can I buy this art at? I need don't stand in the fire.
How, how is it possible. A fan Friday.... on a Friday!
while it isn't a common interpretation, I see Jesse's "No Butts, No Scrubs" to be a statement on how we all share similar DNA regardless of body shape.
You should make this a series. Please.
I lost it at Hooker.
